Chapter 434: Lanchi's Fourth Passive
Chapter 434: Lanchi's Fourth Passive
In the dim dungeon, Sinora stood in the depths, her pupils reflecting the faint light from the dome above, and the figure of a black-haired, green-eyed girl bathed in radiance.
"..."
The wariness and contemplation that had been in Sinora's eyes were now gone, replaced only by acceptance and gentleness before she closed them.
She stood with her feet slightly apart, her hands gently clasped in front of her, maintaining her poise. Her knees were slightly bent, her eyelashes modestly lowered, and her expression was calm and friendly, neither overly enthusiastic nor cold.
Throughout the curtsy, the lady's movements were fluid and controlled, displaying her breeding and confidence.
Soon after, she gracefully returned to her original stance.
"I will follow you, Your Majesty."
Sinora whispered to herself, as if speaking to herself and also making a pledge to Antanas and the Great Poet of Love.
"Then I shall take you away from Herlrome Prison, and you may need to fight for me. Our most important task at hand is to join forces with Antanas to face an eighth-rank powerful enemy. Are you willing?"
The Great Poet of Love nodded and asked.
"Of course, I have pledged my allegiance to you. Without any deals, I will naturally offer my strength to you."
Sinora replied.
It had been a long time since she had engaged in a serious battle. If she could accomplish something for the new king, she would certainly give it her all.
"Please, let us seal our pact."
Sinora placed her hands in front of her, slightly to the side, as she quietly waited. She had already accepted this pact.
What she was referring to, of course, was another, more substantial pact.
The Protoss Empire had kept them, these great demons, imprisoned here instead of executing them. They intended to use the ancient demon ritual that came with the Herlrome Prison barrier to force them into signing slave contracts.
This was their only way to escape both the prison and the empire.
Unexpectedly, one day it would become the new king's way of taking them away.
All her resentment towards Herlrome Prison was probably gone now.
If it meant becoming the new king's strength, even if it meant bearing the mark of a slave for life, she could endure it...
"No need for that. A simple agreement between us demons will suffice. The slave contract is too extreme."
The Great Poet of Love shook his head and waved his hand, denying Sinora's request.
"..."
Sinora stared at the Great Poet of Love, bewildered by the new king's words.
While demon deals carried a backlash, they were not lethal. Only those demons with extremely proud and fiery personalities would take their own lives.
Obviously, she was not one of those demons.
Setting aside the question of how the new king would bypass the slave contract as a means of freeing her from Herlrome Prison, why would he choose a riskier alternative when the slave contract was a more forceful method of ensuring absolute loyalty and control over his subordinates?
Did he not fear that she would disobey him once she was out of prison...
"I trust you."
In response to Sinora's confused gaze, the Great Poet of Love offered a simple answer.
There was no curve to his lips, but his eyes were filled with mirth.
It was not the cold gaze one would give to an object or a subordinate, but a look of unabashed affection for something he cherished. He was telling her that she was not just another minion but someone he considered a friend and an equal.
"I..."
That feeling was like a warm breeze in the midst of a winter that never saw the light of day. It stirred not just heat but also mysterious tides deep within her, like a spring gushing forth from the depths of her heart.
Sinora couldn't find the words to describe her thoughts at that moment; she only wanted to reciprocate the trust he had placed in her.
"Your gratitude is overwhelming." Sinora bowed, her voice lowered.
She had never imagined that she would be able to leave Herlrome Prison so easily one day.
Even for the king who had rescued her, the slave contract was undoubtedly the option that maximized benefits and minimized risks. Yet, the king still chose to protect her dignity as a Great Demon.
"Aside from helping you deal with enemies, is there anything else that requires my assistance?" Sinora asked further.
"May I have your Title Imprint?" The Great Poet of Love pondered. Since Sinora had asked, he might as well grant her another imprint now.
"Of course, it would be my honor," Sinora replied, flattered by the request.
Given that soul imprints would forcibly occupy soul space, she had assumed that a Great Demon like the new king would not be interested in her imprint, so she hadn't brought it up.
Sinora glanced at Antanas, who promptly removed the protective barrier, allowing her to step closer to the Great Poet.
"I may need to intrude upon you a little," Sinora said to the Great Poet.
"It's fine," he nodded in assent.
After receiving his nod, Sinora gently raised her hand and paused with her palm hovering in front of the Great Poet's forehead.
The dim light in the gloomy cell began to flicker, and the surroundings fell into an enigmatic silence.
Suddenly, Sinora's eyes shone with a deep, dark mist, like black holes from which even light could not escape, exuding an irresistible magical power.
As this gathering of power reached its critical point, a maelstrom of magic erupted from Sinora's palm, and the innate magic woven from her talent seeped into the Great Poet's forehead.
Light and shadow intertwined, imbued with boundless primordial power, and amidst it, a deep crimson radiance flowed like blood, mysterious and exotic.
The supreme inheritance ritual of the Great Demons commenced, and as a mysterious imprint formed on the Great Poet's forehead, the powerful magic gradually subsided. Finally, the Great Demon Sinora slowly withdrew her hand.
At that moment, the Great Poet's emerald-green pupils flashed with intricate lines of magic once more.
[Law-Breaking Imprint]
[Category: Soul Imprint]
[Grade: Orange Epic]
[Attribute: Counter]
[Rank: 1]
[Passive Effect: Gain a small amount of spell effect reduction.]
[Note: Law-Breaking Sinora's Recognition.]
Lanchi closed his eyes, savoring the sensation of the new Great Demon imprint, and nodded in satisfaction.
Although his card position limit had decreased to 36, he now had four passive magics.
A Great Demon with a Title could only bestow an imprint once in their lifetime, unless they became a Ninth-Rank Great Demon and underwent the Great Demon Trial, in which case they could grant more imprints.
Only after bestowing the imprint would the Great Demon know the attribute of the imprint they had given to another.
"I'm sorry, my imprint isn't very strong," Sinora fretted, worried that her imprint had tarnished the new king, and quickly took a step back to apologize.
"No, it's a very useful imprint for me. Thank you so much," the Great Poet opened his eyes, his gaze filled with appreciation as he smiled gently.
He knew from the moment he saw Law-Breaking Sinora that she was an exceptional Great Demon, and her imprint lived up to his expectations.
Although according to the Great Demons' beliefs, offensive imprints were generally preferred over defensive ones, any type would do for Lanchi.
As long as it wasn't an imprint that granted "enhanced digestive functions," he would be content.
