Chapter 433: Fire Elemental Elder
A dazzling electric arc flickered across the colossal form of the Fire Elemental Elder, causing him to roar in fury.
"You—burn!"
The electric current clashed with the oxygen surrounding the entity, generating a faint blue gas that filled the air with the sharp, acrid stench of ozone.
In the Boundary Zone of the Elemental Plane, clashes between Fire and Lightning elemental energies were common. The final self-explosion of the [Fireproofer] Aether Armor had indeed taken a heavy toll—slowing the Elder’s movements significantly. Each step now crackled with sizzling electricity, a constant, ominous hiss echoing through the battlefield.
The Magic Coin and Royal Authority Guild spellcasters swiftly regrouped. Facing such a powerful foe, rivalries were set aside—failure now meant a full party wipe.
"Perfect! He’s stuck!"
"Move!"
"Damn it, don’t throw a Fireball!"
"Quick! Cast freezing spells! And control effects!"
Charlotte raised her Staff, chanting incantations. At its tip, a faint crimson ripple pulsed from the Magic Crystal.
[Slow]
A shimmering force field bloomed around the Fire Elemental Elder, slowing his movements to a near halt—his actions now sluggish, almost agonizingly delayed.
Xia Ye Qiu Yu seized the opening. With arms locked and hands crossed, her fingertips erupted in a blinding flash of lightning.
[Lightning Beam]
The beam shot forward—straight at the Elder’s chest—but was instantly repelled by the dense wall of fire energy surrounding him.
Seeing this, Mingyue, Fengyun, and the other mages simultaneously raised their staves. Dozens of icy spells erupted in unison—[Ice Burst], [Ice Storm], [Freezing Ray], [Snilo Snowball Swarm]—a storm of frost lancing through the air.
The combined assault unleashed a dozen freezing effects at once. Frost and fire clashed in a dazzling spectacle—icy tendrils creeping over the Elder’s molten form, freezing it in place, only to melt again into swirling white steam.
Yet, under the coordinated effort of dozens of players, the creature’s body began to freeze, slowly but surely.
In the chaos, the entire battlefield erupted in a torrent of spells, abilities, and potions—like a modern-day "thirty men against Lu Bu."
Meanwhile, Singo had already soared high atop his Two-Headed Dragon, diving at breakneck speed as he drew back his Hunter’s Longbow.
A glowing Hunter’s Mark flared above the Elder’s head—adding extra damage.
Below, the already charred Stuffed Bun had prepared. From his back, he launched himself into a dive, his Rifle tipped with Frost Poison.
“Whoosh—”
The arrow tore through the air, its cold gleam flashing like a shard of winter itself—embedding deep into the Elder’s chest, detonating inside with a jagged Ice Spike.
It was the [Ice Spike Arrow]—a rare, specially crafted weapon forged by a Frost Giant, designed to pierce fire elementals. Even in the Empire, such weapons were scarce, available only through commissions to the Magic Ministry’s Frost Giant Slaves.
"GROOOOAAARRR!"
The Elder roared in agony, the first real cry of pain from his massive frame.
The Colossal Entity writhed, lava pools churning violently, burning debris raining down like fiery meteors—some even striking innocent players, killing them instantly.
"First a flash of cold—then the rifle strikes like a dragon!"
"Old fiend, die!"
Stuffed Bun bellowed, diving again from behind the Elder’s back, the momentum of his fall driving the Long Spear deep into the creature’s chest.
“Shwaaap!”
"Hah! All the experience points are mine!" he shouted, euphoric with triumph—only to freeze mid-laugh.
No Experience Points (XP) notification appeared.
"...What the hell?"
A cold dread washed over him.
The Fire Elemental Elder slowly turned his head, those eyes like molten lava balls locking onto him, burning with endless fury.
"Burn—"
"Everything!"
A thunderous roar split the sky.
The Elder’s massive body erupted in a violent red glow—like a living bomb, every fiber screaming with danger.
Stuffed Bun’s scorched face flickered in the light. His eyes widened in horror.
"...Oh. It’s going to explode?"
Then—flame consumed him whole.
"BOOM!"
A catastrophic explosion tore through the battlefield. The lava pool surged. The entire mountain trembled.
The Elder’s body burst outward in a storm of fire, shattering every ice spike, frost barrier, and force field in an instant.
Stuffed Bun and his Two-Headed Dragon were reduced to a single, blackened lump of charcoal—flung dozens of meters before crashing into the ground.
“Crack!”
They shattered into fragments, scattered like burnt matchsticks.
"Mmm!"
"Stuffed Bun’s really charred!"
"Whoa… flew so far! Did he crash?"
Players stared upward at the blackened wreckage, stunned.
But the Fire Elemental Elder was now utterly enraged—unleashing his true form. Intense heat surged into the sky, a pillar of fire rising like a furnace from hell.
He raised one massive arm.
From the heavens, a torrent of Rain of Fire descended—scorching, deadly, relentless.
One touch of that elemental fire, and a player would be reduced to ash in seconds. Many were already burning.
The Royal Authority Guild leader bellowed:
"Watch out—don’t let the fire touch you!"
"Mages! Give us protection from energy damage!"
"Mages are dead!"
"Damn it!"
"Paladin—hold the line! He’s charging!"
The Elder hovered above, flames lashing like tongues, smoke curling around him as he charged into the ranks.
"BOOM!"
Even the elite [Royal Power] Paladin was shattered—crushed into a smear of meat by a flaming fist, becoming fuel for the inferno.
"This thing’s too strong! We need to control it first!" someone yelled.
Charlotte rolled aside, dodging a wave of flowing flame. Teeth gritted, she pulled out a rare and expensive Spell Scroll.
"I’m going all in!"
"Beast Paralyze Spell!"
A crimson beam shot forth—striking the Elder’s body—only to vanish without effect.
The Elder turned, his eyes blazing with fire.
"GROOOOAAARRR!"
Charlotte cursed under her breath. "Damn it—even at high level, it still resists? What kind of damn luck is this?"
She staggered back, desperately activating the protective enchantments on her robe.
A burning Sulfur Block crashed down.
"BOOM!"
The explosion hit her. Her shield shattered. Her robe was scorched black.
"No! My rare gear!"
She fell to her knees, utterly ruined, tears welling in her eyes—only to feel the searing heat of another fire blast bearing down on her.
"Is it chasing me?!"
She rolled, then vanished in a flash—Phantom Step teleporting dozens of meters away. Just in time.
Xia Ye Qiu Yu hovered in midair, dodging the fire streams while drawing in the ambient Fire Elemental Energy.
As a Dragonblood Sorcerer of Red Dragon Bloodline, her resistance to fire was far greater than ordinary mages.
She stared at the enraged Fire Elemental Elder, her golden eyes flickering with flame.
"Are we really supposed to kill this monster?"
"Most top-tier players today are Red Dragon bloodlines. The sorcerers in this trial are mostly focused on fire magic..."
"Sending us to kill a high-level fire elemental? That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it?"
She looked down at Stuffed Bun’s charred remains, blinking slowly.
"...I get it now."
"So that’s why..."
"The people of Mechanical Divinity were wasting their time. The real test isn’t combat—it’s survival."
"Given their class background, Dragon Oath Mages—servants and attendants of the Red Dragon Emperor—must be able to endure high-temperature environments."
