Chapter 431: The Great Demon Race Resonance of Lanchi
Chapter 431: The Great Demon Race Resonance of Lanchi
The cell was still filled with the violent fluctuations of magical power from the clash before the truce, gradually calming down, leaving only the faint light from the ventilation shaft in the dome flickering in the space.
The Great Lover slowly walked towards Cynora, and Cynora stared at her, her eyes flashing with complex emotions.
Despite Cynora's doubts, she temporarily set aside her hostility and communicated with the two.
"What has happened to the Protoss Empire that has brought you here to find me?"
Cynora temporarily sheathed her weapons and returned to her initial state, seemingly open to a brief conversation with them.
Antanas had a disguise spell to appear human, and this black-haired, green-eyed fellow was likely under a similar illusion.
"Miss Cynora, we wish to establish a fair demon trade pact with you. May I ask what demands or wishes you have?"
The Great Lover stated their intention bluntly.
Antanas raised her hand to stop the Great Lover from approaching Cynora further, protecting her like a mother bird guarding her chick.
Even though Cynora had ceased her attacks, Antanas still regarded her as a formidable enemy.
"...I won't kill you, as long as you don't offend me," Cynora said, her eyes fixed on the Great Lover's face. A slight curve lifted the corners of her mouth, but it didn't form into a genuine smile.
She was also subtly hinting at the consequences if the Great Lover continued.
Cynora had been observing Antanas' attitude towards the Great Lover, and she now had a guess as to their relationship.
If a human dared to disguise themselves as Talia, Antanas would probably be the first to kill them.
The fact that Antanas could tolerate, tacitly approve, and even protect her so carefully could only mean that her true form must also have some connection to Talia, and she was most likely Talia's daughter.
"I merely wish to discuss a fair deal with you. Of course, as part of the deal, you may need to form a contract with me in order to leave Herrom Prison." The Great Lover finished what she wanted to say.
The contract she referred to was, of course, the slave contract of Herrom Prison.
Although a more equal pact could be signed, it was still an insult to a great demon.
"Hehehe, you're quite bold, but we have nothing to discuss. There is no place for the weak before me," Cynora said, a hint of anger lurking beneath her laughter.
A mere demon cub wanted her to pledge her loyalty?
If Talia or Ifatia had come to rescue her, driven by a strong determination to restore their nation, she might have considered sacrificing her dignity and submitting to them, lending her power to their cause.
But it was too naive of this fellow to expect her to follow her so willingly.
The mark in Cynora's demon irises became unusually active, and complex lines suddenly appeared in her deep red eyes, emanating a primitive and powerful aura unique to the great demon race.
Great demons naturally exuded an aura of dominance over lesser demons, and when they unleashed their magical power, their eyes would bear the mark symbolizing their rank.
This mark was not just a symbol of strength but also proof of their status as a great demon.
The marks whirled in Cynora's eyes, emitting a profound radiance that was almost too intense to behold.
The magical power emanating from Cynora's body was like an invisible mountain, her gaze fixed on the Great Lover, intending to crush her completely.
"Cynora!" Antanas scolded her angrily.
Despite Antanas' protection, the Great Lover was still under the oppressive pressure of Cynora's innate ability as a Great Demon, an attack that targeted the soul and couldn't be blocked or deflected by a barrier.
Just as Antanas was about to launch an attack to stop Cynora, she suddenly noticed a change in Cynora's expression; she looked perplexed.
In spite of Cynora's intimidating presence as a Great Demon, the Great Lover didn't falter or retreat.
She stared directly at Cynora, her posture graceful and polite, as if to convey that regardless of Cynora's intentions, she had no intention of resorting to violence and only wished to have a peaceful conversation.
Gradually, her emerald green irises began to display patterns that were distinct from Cynora's.
These patterns formed in her eyes, shimmering in resonance as if drawn to Cynora's power and responding to it involuntarily.
Cynora was stunned by this development, her usually stoic features contorting in surprise.
"?!"
In that instant, Cynora's instincts kicked in, and she swiftly backed away, maintaining a cautious distance.
Even though her opponent was a Great Demon, Cynora sensed only the power of a first-stage creature. When she couldn't perceive an opponent's magic power, it usually meant one of two things: they were either very weak or incredibly strong!
In the moment when she had carelessly drawn close to Cynora, the Great Lover might not have felt threatened at all and could have easily killed her.
Just what kind of monster had Talia raised, that she could grow to such a level?
"Miss Cynora," the Great Lover spoke, "I came here only to rescue you and ask for your help, and in return, I will offer you an equitable trade."
The Great Lover's tone remained calm, devoid of any hint of aggression or defensiveness, as if the previous tense moment had never happened.
"..."
Cynora was taken aback by the other party's continued civility, and she began to feel uneasy.
The more rational a demon was, the more terrifying they tended to be, and as a fellow Great Demon, Cynora couldn't fathom the depths of the Great Lover's strength.
The resonance between them felt undeniably real, and if not for this, Cynora might never have perceived the true danger the Great Lover posed until it was too late.
"Before we discuss any deal," Cynora requested, "may I see your true form?"
She scanned the Great Lover from head to toe with a scrutinizing gaze.
Whether an evil demon or a Great Demon, the fact that this being had managed to reach her was impressive.
At this point, the Great Lover had earned the right to negotiate with her.
Although it wasn't of utmost importance, it was always preferable to see the true face of one's negotiating partner.
Among demons, there were always those who constantly altered their appearance, disappearing from the sight of both demons and humans only to reappear later.
These individuals were notoriously cunning.
For instance, during the Holy War, there was a prominent leader of the surrender faction who would likely outlive all demons.
"I can't show you my true form yet," the Great Lover replied with a hint of a smile, "but if you're willing to leave with me, you will see me in the Protoss Empire."
"The moment you say that, my interest wanes," Cynora said, shaking her head.
She generally lacked curiosity when it came to other females, and not understanding the other party's intentions made her feel a bit apprehensive.
It could be that the Great Lover truly intended to show her true form, or it could mean that the moment Cynora laid eyes on it, it would spell her doom.
Unlike humans, conversations between demons could take a deadly turn in an instant.
