Chapter 431: The Gendaya Civilization
Chapter 431: The Gendaya Civilization
"High Priest, recently many of our fellow believers have been experiencing varying degrees of hallucinations," a Blasphemy Priest said to Sam with some concern.
"This is just a side effect of the Blasphemy Priest ritual. Don't worry about it; it will disappear once you become a Mid-level Priest," Sam interrupted with a calm tone.
"For the great will of the Abyss!"
Seeing that the Blasphemy Priest still wanted to say something, Sam used his trump card, uttering this phrase directly. This made the Blasphemy Priest, who was about to speak, swallow his words and only follow with, "For the great will of the Abyss!"
He could only watch as Sam walked away, eventually sighing in resignation and returning.
'Faith is truly a powerful tool, making people obey me completely. But it also comes with risks. I need to perfect the entire industrial system as soon as possible.'
'Fortunately, I cleared out all the priests earlier, buying me a lot of time. Otherwise, if the betrayers' soul creations arrived, it would be too late.'
'But in this world, I imagine the betrayers are also having a headache.'
A smile appeared at the corner of Sam's mouth as the knowledge and secrets inherited from his bloodline continued to flood his mind.
'Everything starts anew, betrayers!'
Looking at the bustling land, as he continuously pushed forward with various reforms, the once decaying territory gradually came to life, though this life was fragile and could crumble at any moment.
"High Priest, the latest mining machine is complete, currently..." An excited Blasphemy Priest ran over, enthusiastically reporting to Sam.
"That's excellent news. Praise the great Emperor of the Black Abyss," Sam said with a kind and gentle expression, completely different from the other Blasphemy Priests' inherent madness and distortion.
In reality, he wasn't as happy as he appeared; instead, he became increasingly puzzled and even wary.
'The Will of the Abyss · Emperor of the Black Abyss, which betrayer is this? I've never heard of such a name, and it's so peculiar. The divine role isn't clear, and more importantly, this Abyssal Web is somewhat like a personalized system.'
His current industrialization was partly due to the knowledge inherited from his bloodline and partly from the exchanges of faith points through the Abyssal Web.
As an Awakened one who inherited the ancient civilization, he naturally had a profound understanding of deities and a clear grasp of what faith was. This allowed him to ensure that, despite not worshipping the so-called Emperor of the Black Abyss, he could still maintain the faith level of his believers and the daily faith points he received.
If not for the fear of problems, he could produce a large amount of faith in a single day.
This was his ability.
After listening to the Blasphemy Priest's report, Sam knew he needed to speed up. Although he didn't have any divine servants here, it didn't mean they wouldn't come.
He was a heretic, having broken free from faith, disrupting the deity's plans. The ancient deity who had survived from ancient times might have already guessed his situation.
'There seems to be a new fellow believer awakening in the north, but the stimulation isn't enough. A little help is needed.'
Through the third eye on his forehead, which was usually closed, Sam perceived many things, even when it wasn't open.
"The world... is changing."
Through the third eye, he sensed a terrifying existence that had developed immense malice towards them, causing problems for the survival and reproduction of their race.
Thus, he awakened.
Without this malice, he wouldn't have awakened the third eye or recovered the memories from ancient times.
Without this issue, he would still be the High Priest of the Abyssal Mission, striving for the spread of faith.
'I need more fellow believers, but the awakening and recovery of fellow believers isn't something anyone can achieve easily.' He knew how to awaken and even understood the principles behind awakening, but the problem was the lack of conditions. Besides the one in the north who was self-awakening, artificial guidance for awakening and recovery required extremely high levels of industry, medicine, and other fields.
Otherwise, would awakening really be as simple as just talking about it?
As for relying on divine power, it would be courting death. Stealing a little here and there wouldn't usually be a problem, but using it to guide awakening would likely invite divine punishment immediately.
For Sam, the deities were the traitors of ancient times, and for the deities, Sam was a heretic who was disrupting the world. There was no room for reconciliation between them.
Industrialization was the first step; without sufficient capability, he wouldn't be able to create what he needed.
Fortunately, this world had faith, which could be exploited. Otherwise, if he had to rely on material benefits to manage everything, Sam wasn't sure he could handle it.
This was a case of mixed blessings.
What he needed to do wasn't just to eliminate the unknown malice but to cleanse the world of all deities.
For someone else, this might be a daunting task, but Sam had the necessary inheritance, even knowledge of the deities' origins. He could easily shield himself from the deities' perception and had the means to sever faith, leading to their downfall.
However, he couldn't accomplish these tasks alone.
"The world has regressed too much; all the technology has been buried under faith, no, perhaps it has been erased entirely," Sam said with a sigh. In the memories he inherited, he had seen the power of his ancient kin.
He had once thought about searching for ancient bases or laboratories, even light industrial factories, but ultimately gave up. He didn't think he could find them, and even if he did, they would likely be nothing but rusted metal.
Even if the deities hadn't destroyed them, the passage of countless millennia might have rendered them ineffective, buried deep underground.
So he had to start from scratch.
Fortunately, knowledge was etched into the bloodlines of everyone. If they could awaken and recover, everything could be restored.
Unfortunately, the shackles of faith made this impossible. He had only managed to awaken and recover by inadvertently evading the deities' attention.
'Once I finish the current tasks, I need to investigate the situation of the Abyss Will · Black Abyss Emperor. The Abyssal Web provided by this existence might not be as simple as it seems. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to break free from the faith shackles left by the traitors.'
While he believed this existence to be a deity, it might not be a normal deity but rather some kind of creation.
For example, it didn't respond or provide feedback. For ordinary people, a deity not responding or providing feedback would be normal, but he was clearly not an ordinary person. In a sense, he was one of their priests, and even without a response, there should be feedback.
For instance, divine power feedback or divine spell feedback. But there was none, as if it were a lifeless object.
'Maybe this Abyssal Web is actually the so-called Abyss Will · Black Abyss Emperor, but it has been deified. Due to its lack of consciousness, it is just a lifeless object, hence the lack of feedback and response.'
'Could it be that a leftover system program from some base was mistakenly deified, and through logical operations, it became this way?'
This sudden hypothesis made Sam very excited. If true, it would mean that once he reached the corresponding technological level, he could directly access the divine realm where this Abyssal Web resided and control it through his own authority.
"No wonder it's called the Abyss Will, a base's main control program, and it's likely underground. This all makes sense. As for the Black Abyss Emperor, it might be due to changes over the years," Sam felt he had found a breakthrough.
'I need to find a way to enter the divine realm where this base's main control program is located as soon as possible.'
Sam was certain that such rigidity indicated normal program operation. In terms of deity rules and main control program authority, the latter was greater.
Deities were just one of their technologies, and authority came from higher rules. If there was a conflict, Sam knew the main control program's authority would take precedence over deity rules.
"Survival and reproduction, the Gendaya civilization will endure, and the traitors will receive the punishment they deserve!" Sam whispered to himself, encouraging himself. Although his goals were grand, he knew he was still very weak and must not expose himself.
