Chapter 431: New Residents, Treecko Arrives at the World Tree!
Chapter 431: New Residents, Treecko Arrives at the World Tree!
Early the next morning, Cri arrived at the ranch in a truck.
With the help of the burly workers, she unloaded batch after batch of timber and transported them up to the World Tree.
Now that the location for the guild had been decided, Cri's construction team officially began their work.
The Thunderbirds arrived at the ranch around noon.
After dropping off the three Treecko, they left immediately, leaving the Treecko to calmly observe Naoki and the Pokemon by his side.
"Welcome!"
Naoki held a simple welcome ceremony for the Treecko with the help of his Pokemon crew.
At the end of the ceremony, he presented the World Tree candies, made the day before, as a welcome gift to the new arrivals.
Perhaps due to having heard about the ranch from Teddiursa and Mew beforehand, the Treecko didn't seem overly reserved.
They looked at the green candies in their palms, then happily popped them into their mouths.
The next second, the three Treecko widened their eyes, astonished.
"Chagach!"
"Do you feel the Grass Energy within you becoming more substantial?" Naoki asked with a smile.
"Chagach!"
Although surprised, the Treecko calmly nodded their heads in agreement.
Indeed! What was going on? They turned curious gazes toward Naoki, seeking an explanation.
"Then, follow me!"
Naoki led the Treecko across the lake and into the Reverse World.
Before they knew it, the Treecko found themselves facing an incredibly tall and robust tree, even larger than the giant tree they had lived in before!
"Cha...gach..."
The three Treecko stood there, their expressions blank and their voices trailing off.
They couldn't believe that a tree of this magnitude existed in the world.
How fortunate they would be to live upon it!
Images of themselves flourishing and nesting in the dense foliage of this grand tree flashed through their minds.
For a moment, their eyes sparkled with aspiration and anticipation.
Seeing the Treecko's reactions, Naoki knew they had taken a liking to the World Tree.
"Let's go up and take a look!"
Naoki guided the Treecko through several floating islands, entering the World Tree through its base and then riding the bubble elevator all the way up to the ethereal realm.
The Treecko were astounded by the abundance of energy that permeated this place.
The rich natural essence was overwhelming!
Instantly, they fell even more in love with this location.
No Grass-type Pokemon could resist the allure of living in such a lush, green environment filled with the essence of nature.
In the distance, on a vacant lot, Cri and her construction team were hard at work, their tools creating a rhythmic clamor.
Naoki took the Treecko on a tour, introducing them to the area:
"Mew and Teddiursa didn't lie to you. I plan to build a bustling Pokemon guild up here. Although we've just started, it won't take more than a few months to complete it."
"Then you can settle in and help manage the guild alongside the other Pokemon."
The Treecko nodded eagerly, having accepted the invitation from the Adventuring Company because of their interest in the Explorer's Guild.
"So, where do you plan to stay in the meantime? Will you come back to the ranch with me or stay directly on the World Tree?" Naoki asked.
"Chagach!" Without hesitation, the Treecko chose the World Tree.
"But there isn't much to eat here for now... since the orchards and farmlands haven't been prepared yet," Naoki explained.
However, the Treecko didn't seem to mind at all.
They eagerly expressed that they could fill their bellies just by eating leaves!
Naoki: "..."
As expected of Grass-type Pokemon, they were simple when it came to matters like this.
Some Grass-type Pokemon didn't even need to eat; they could sustain themselves purely through photosynthesis.
While the Treecko didn't object, Naoki couldn't bear to watch them subsist on tree leaves. It would be too pitiful.
Thus, after a moment's thought, Naoki asked the Treecko to stay there while he returned to the ranch, hopped into the pickup truck, and drove to Rustboro City. There, he purchased a batch of tree saplings from the Seedot store.
Next, Naoki gathered three Diglett and a Breloom, along with their tools, and set them to work in the designated planting area, cultivating the land.
Finally, he had them plant the young trees in the freshly dug pits.
Once everything was in place, it was Breloom's turn to work its magic.
With a gentle lift of its right hand, the fragile, slender saplings began to grow at a rapid pace.
In the blink of an eye, a lush grove of trees appeared before them.
Every tree branch was laden with plump, ripe fruits that glistened enticingly, looking utterly delicious.
Witnessing this spectacle, the three Treecko's eyes sparkled with awe.
"Chaa!" they exclaimed, impressed.
And so, Breloom gained three more Pokemon followers.
Naoki smiled and said, "There, now there's plenty of food. If you're hungry, feel free to pluck the fruits from the trees."
"Chaa!" The Treecko nodded enthusiastically.
Naoki surveyed their surroundings and added, "Oh, right, there's one more thing."
"Chaa?"
"The World Tree is enormous, and aside from this layer, there are other sizeable spaces within it. However, I haven't explored those areas yet, so for now, it's best not to wander off there. We don't want you getting lost."
"Chaa!"
Naoki nodded. This single layer was already vast and should provide more than enough space for the Treecko to explore.
The World Tree had not yet reached its full maturity, and this layer was situated at the very top, sheltered beneath a dense canopy of foliage. Even as the World Tree continued to grow, this area likely wouldn't change.
The other regions within the World Tree were still unstable and subject to change. For instance, the internal space within the trunk might expand further.
Therefore, Naoki planned to explore those regions once the World Tree had fully matured and see what kind of environments they offered and which Pokemon they would be suitable for.
Pokemon had diverse attributes and habitats. Fire-type Pokemon preferred volcanic areas with scorching climates, Grass-types thrived in lush forests, and Water-types sought clean aquatic habitats.
Additionally, there were Rock and Ground-type Pokemon that favored mountainous regions, Ice-types that relished frigid, snowy landscapes, and more.
Those areas would require specialized adaptations, but Naoki wasn't in a rush. He had ample time to work on them gradually.
