Chapter 43: Yes, the Potion Was Stolen by Snape Himself
Obtaining a crescent pendant that could save his life did not alleviate Ivan's anxiety. Instead, it only strengthened his resolve to brew the bloodline fusion potion as quickly as possible to enhance his strength. His actions became increasingly bold.
Unfortunately, Quirrell behaved properly throughout the entire holiday.
Just as Ivan was disappointed and preparing to find another way, on the third day of school, Quirrell's name suddenly moved quickly on the Marauder's Map and disappeared into the Forbidden Forest.
Perhaps because what Quirrell was doing was not something he wanted others to see, his name on the Marauder's Map never overlapped with anyone else's. This meant that Ivan was the only one in the entire school who knew where Quirrell had gone.
What made Ivan even more delighted was that Snape was not in his office at that moment. The opportunity had arrived.
A few days later, during a Potions class, Snape's already stern face seemed even more gloomy. Throughout the class, the young wizards from Gryffindor suffered, and even Hermione and Ivan were not spared.
"Is Snape crazy? He deducted forty-five points from Gryffindor in one class!" After the class, Ron, who had just stepped out of Snape's dungeon, couldn't help but complain.
Harry also nodded, still feeling a lingering fear. Ten of those points were deducted from him.
Hermione was equally angry. After all, the reasons Snape gave for deducting points today were absurd. She had kindly helped Seamus correct a mistake, but Snape deducted five points from her for interfering with others.
Ivan sighed. His situation was the opposite; he was deducted points for watching others make mistakes without intervening.
It was clear that Snape was using the Gryffindor students to vent his anger today.
Ron grumbled all the way, and Hermione finally found an opportunity to share the information she had noticed.
"I heard that someone stole from Snape's Potion Storage Room, and a lot of precious materials were lost. Snape even threatened to search the entire Hogwarts in a third-year class."
"I bet it's because Snape has offended too many people. If he could be as fair as Professor Mcgonagall, who would bother him?" Ron speculated.
Hermione and Harry also started to speculate, but they didn't come to any conclusion.
"Ivan, what do you think?" Hermione, noticing Ivan's silence, found it odd and asked.
"Maybe Snape did it himself", Ivan said casually.
Snape?
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were all puzzled. Why would Snape steal his own potions?
Oh, right, Snape doesn't need to steal them; it's his Potion Storage Room!
"Have you forgotten about the trapdoor under Fluffy? Someone has been trying to get through it, and only Hagrid knows how to do it", Ivan said, not directly revealing his thoughts but hinting at them.
"Polyjuice Potion! Snape must be using Polyjuice Potion to disguise himself as someone Hagrid knows, to get information from him", Hermione immediately understood Ivan's meaning and speculated.
Harry also became excited. He had seen Snape's leg injured a few days ago.
Snape must need a lot of ingredients to brew potions to heal his injuries, but he can't let Dumbledore find out, so he pretended the herbs were stolen.
After all, although the Potion Storage Room is located in Snape's office, it strictly belongs to Hogwarts. Most of the gold Galleons spent on purchasing potion ingredients are paid for by the school.
Harry immediately felt he had uncovered the truth and couldn't wait to share his thoughts with Ivan, Hermione, and Ron.
"It must be like this, Harry, you're right! We should go tell Professor Dumbledore right away! We need to foil Snape's evil plan!" Ron immediately perked up, a sense of responsibility and mission surging in his heart.
Ivan was somewhat embarrassed. He hadn't expected that his casual remark would lead to such wild speculation from Harry and the others.
"I never knew you had such vivid imaginations."
Snape's deep voice came from behind the four of them.
Ron, who had been brimming with excitement, was suddenly chilled to the bone, and the fiery determination in his heart was instantly extinguished.
"P-Professor", Harry struggled to turn his head and stammered.
Hermione was also quite frightened, while Ivan pretended to be scared because he had intentionally said those words for Snape to hear.
Snape walked up to the four of them, slowly bent down, and his hollow eyes scrutinized them. His hooked nose nearly touched Harry's head.
Harry's mind was already imagining the terrifying methods Snape might use to punish them. Would it be an Obliviate, or some other dark curse, or even the Avada Kedavra?
After all, they had discovered Snape's greatest secret.
However, to Harry's surprise, Snape did not draw his wand or throw them out the window. He merely said, "Ten points from Gryffindor!" and hurriedly left.
"He let us off?" Harry found it hard to believe.
"He did take points, didn't he?" Ivan reminded him.
"We found out his biggest secret! If we tell Professor Dumbledore, he's finished." Harry didn't care about the lost house points. It wasn't the first time they had been deducted, and he was used to it.
"Snape was heading towards the Headmaster's Office." Ivan shook his head, knowing that Snape was going to report to Dumbledore.
"Since when did we find out Snape's secret? Weren't those just our guesses? Anyone who wants to get past Fluffy has a motive. I think Quirrell is quite suspicious", Ivan stroked his chin and speculated deeply.
Harry and the others were speechless. Why did you start by pointing the finger at Snape? You made them all think in that direction and got caught by Snape in the end.
"Ivan, you're definitely hiding something from us." Hermione's amber eyes stared intently at Ivan, trying to read his expression.
"Um, yes, I just remembered I had an extra slice of cake at lunch and haven't had a chance to tell you yet." Ivan joked to change the subject, silently apologizing to the three of them in his mind.
The missing potions were indeed stolen by him. To avoid detection, he had also taken some ingredients for making Polyjuice Potion and treating injuries, and a few other things as well, just a "little bit" more.
It was to throw them off the scent. After all, if he wasn't a variable, the person most likely to need these things right now would be Quirrell.
