Chapter 43: The Hogwarts Incident
Chapter 43: The Hogwarts Incident
"It doesn't matter who it is, Miss Prince," Snape said without changing his expression. He frowned and said, "Although irregular cuts can make the potion more effective, it's just a Boil Cure Potion. Doing this is a complete waste of time."
However, considering your serious attitude... Hufflepuff, five points."
All the students looked over in shock, their eyes widening in disbelief.
Some of the Hufflepuff wizards slapped their ears, wondering if their hearing was faulty.
Although only half the class had passed, they had already fully experienced the severity of the Potions Professor.
Just as the Prefects had said, in his class, only Slytherin received extra points, while the other three houses could only try to minimize their deductions.
Take those two Slytherin wizards, for example, who almost blew up the Potions classroom.
Although Snape had given them detention, and it was in the dungeons, no house points were deducted.
But what did they just hear? Snape actually gave Conna five points!
Oh Merlin, this news would surely cause a sensation throughout Hogwarts!
...
If the Hufflepuffs were shocked, the Slytherins were having a hard time accepting it. They looked at their Head of House with resentment, almost on the verge of tears.
Why should they, who were supposed to be the only ones getting extra points, be treated the same as Hufflepuff?
The Head of House had changed; he wasn't like this before.
However, none of this had anything to do with Snape. He put down the porcupine quill in his hand and said indifferently, "Next time, don't do such unnecessary things."
"Yes, yes... Professor," Conna replied meekly.
"Hmm."
Snape nodded and glanced at Kyle. His expression instantly turned to disdain as he said, "Look at others, then look at yourself. You've only managed to cut this little bit in such a long time, and you can't even do such a simple task properly. Did you borrow a troll's brain? You're wasting time, Hufflepuff, five points!"
Kyle: "..."
What was this all about?
Who did he offend? Was he being deducted five points just for cutting a little slower? Was there any school rules left, or any humanity?
The professor was being so biased, and no one in Hogwarts seemed to care. In fact, no one did.
Even the young wizards in the classroom didn't seem to care about Kyle's feelings; they all breathed a sigh of relief, and the Slytherin snakes hugged each other, weeping with joy.
They were back, all of them.
This was the real Snape; the previous one must have been an imposter.
Perhaps it was Headmaster Dumbledore who didn't want Slytherin to win the House Cup for the sixth consecutive year, so he secretly controlled Snape with the Imperius Curse.
That despicable old bee! The snakes comforted themselves with these thoughts.
...
After this, Snape rarely came to Kyle's side again.
Until near the end of the class, he began to check the potions brewed by the young wizards, as was his custom.
Unsurprisingly, Kyle and Conna's Boil Cure Potion was a great success.
Pink smoke rose slowly from the cauldron, and even Snape couldn't find any faults with it.
"Hufflepuff, five points."
Snape glanced at Kyle and walked away with a look of disdain.
This was the second time Snape had awarded points to Hufflepuff, and although he deducted those five points a second later, the news still spread throughout Hogwarts before dinner.
Conna once again became the focus of everyone's attention.
Unlike the few first-years in the previous Transfiguration class, this time, almost all the students at Hogwarts were curious about this first-year witch, who could make even the notorious Snape view her differently.
"Thank goodness, Kyle, you finally got out of that blasted Common Room."
During dinner, Fred and George, despite the risk of detention, made their way to the Hufflepuff table.
However, their appearance was far from reassuring. Dark circles under their eyes and unsteady hands holding cutlery, they almost turned a perfectly good pork chop into mincemeat.
"What's wrong with you two?" Kyle looked at the ailing twins with concern. "You're still young, but you need to learn some self-control. Your bodies won't be able to take this kind of strain."
"Yeah, but we had no choice," George sighed. "This detention was terrible. Do you know how thick that book is? A full fifteen inches, taller than a wand when placed upright. Professor McGonagall expects us to copy it all within a week. Is she trying to kill us?"

"Forget it, let's not talk about that," Fred patted his brother's shoulder. "At least Professor McGonagall won't let us drop dead from exhaustion before we finish copying that blasted book."
What happens after they finish copying it... The twins didn't say, and Kyle wisely didn't ask.
"Darn, you distracted me, and I almost forgot the important stuff."
George suddenly slapped his forehead and peered around the table.
"Which one is the hero, Conna? Introduce us to her, I'm waiting for her autograph."
"Yeah, yeah," Fred nodded eagerly. "A Hufflepuff getting a perfect score from Snape is practically a miracle."
George chimed in, "Dumbledore should give her a special achievement award for curing Snape's favoritism."
"An honor far more glorious than anything recorded in that broken book."
"Looking for Conna? You're in for a disappointment," Kyle shrugged. "She didn't come to the Great Hall for dinner."
According to Conna's roommate, she had retreated to their dormitory shortly after Potions class and refused to see anyone.
"She didn't come?" George asked in surprise. "Isn't she eating dinner?"
"She's just not coming to the Great Hall," Kyle gave him a strange look. "Don't forget, our Common Room is right next to the kitchen. We can get food whenever we want."
"Oh, right, I forgot about that," George patted his forehead. "Damn, my head is filled with all these different names. It's a weird feeling."
"Looks like we won't be getting that autograph," Fred said with regret. "It's a shame we have to continue our detention tonight; otherwise, waiting in the kitchen would have been a good option."
Kyle opened his mouth to speak, thinking that Conna probably didn't want to give them her autograph.
Without getting the desired result, Fred and George hastily ate a few bites of dinner and left.
As they left, they stuffed their pockets with roasted potatoes, saying they were saving them for after detention.
Kyle asked why they didn't go to the kitchen for some hot food, but the twins gave him a collective cold stare.
"Two in the morning," Fred said bitterly. "Just making it back to our dormitory alive will be a miracle!"
