Chapter 43: Room of Requirement
Chapter 43: Room of Requirement
Originally, Jerry had stored over six thousand Little Red Stars when he entered this time.
According to his initial plan, this would have been enough to last for two months.
However, being sorted into Slytherin meant he had to throw himself into his studies, absorbing a vast amount of magical knowledge. This led to him consuming a large number of Little Red Stars every day to activate the "Brain Booster" function.
As a result, in just eleven days, his stock of over six thousand Little Red Stars was reduced to just over thirty.
Excluding the first day when he used fewer, he had been activating the mind enhancer function for about three hours every night since school started.
During the day, he would intermittently activate the "Mind Enhancer" function, adding up to about four to five hours.
On average, he was using the "Mind Enhancer" for seven to eight hours a day.
Activating the "Mind Enhancer" function consumed one Little Red Star per minute, sixty per hour, and seven to eight hours amounted to nearly five hundred Little Red Stars a day.
In eleven days, just activating the "Brain Booster" function alone consumed nearly five thousand Little Red Stars.
Additionally, staying in the Mini World for one day cost him a fixed one hundred Little Red Stars. In eleven days, over six thousand Little Red Stars were almost entirely depleted.
By midnight tonight, with his Little Red Stars nearly depleted, he would be forced to return to the Main World.
However, the intense studying during this period, though it consumed a large number of Little Red Stars, also brought him significant gains.
He not only learned many practical spells and magical knowledge but also significantly improved his ability to use magic.
Now, all he needed was a flying broom.
Unfortunately, not being in Gryffindor meant he couldn't get a free Nimbus 2000 from Professor Mcgonagall. Therefore, he had to find another way.
Initially, he planned to sneak and "borrow" a flying broom used in flying lessons, returning it before he left.
However, he later found out that the teaching brooms were stored in the staff quarters where Madam Hooch lived.
Stealing a broom from the staff quarters would be suicidal!
After much deliberation, he decided he needed to find another method.
Recalling the details from several movies, especially after activating the "Brain Booster" function, he finally remembered a place where he could get a flying broom for free.
It was the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts!
He remembered that in one of the movies, either Goyle or Crabbe had set Fiendfyre in the Room of Requirement, and Harry and his friends had used three flying brooms to escape.
The Room of Requirement should be on the Eighth Floor.
Carefully pushing open the stone door, Jerry entered the basement corridor.
He followed the corridor back to the ground floor, then ascended the grand marble staircase to the second floor.
From the second floor, he would have to navigate the one hundred and forty-two moving magical staircases. Although these staircases liked to move around, their movements followed a certain pattern.
The prefect had explained these patterns to them on the first day of school.
Portraits lined the walls around the staircases. Most of the figures in the portraits were asleep, and the few who were awake barely reacted to Jerry's presence.
Every year, there are incidents of young wizards breaking the rules and wandering the castle at night.
There was Harry's father's little group, the Weasley twins, and later, Harry's trio of friends.
So as long as they aren't caught on the spot by the patrolling Filch or a teacher, there won't be any problems.
Jerry understood that the portraits on the walls were essentially Dumbledore's eyes and ears, and he likely knew about every movement in the castle.
But Jerry wasn't worried.
Dumbledore didn't usually interfere with nighttime wanderings, and Jerry wasn't planning to steal books from the library. He was just heading to the Eighth Floor to find the Room of Requirement, which wasn't a big deal.
Cautiously stepping on the magical stairs, Jerry made his way to the Eighth Floor.
However, as he just stepped onto the Eighth Floor corridor, a small figure appeared on the railing.
Upon closer inspection, it was Filch's pet cat, Mrs. Norris.
"Meow!"
Seeing Mrs. Norris meow at him and turn to alert Filch, Jerry quickly pulled out a secret weapon from his left pocket and threw it at Mrs. Norris.
"Thud!"
A nicely roasted small trout landed in front of Mrs. Norris.
Mrs. Norris stopped in her tracks, staring at the roasted fish.
"Meow?"
She gave Jerry a hesitant look, as if to say, "Are you trying to bribe me? Am I that easily swayed?"
Jerry's lips curled into a slight smile, and he pulled out another roasted trout from his right pocket and threw it over.
Since she hadn't outright refused, it meant she was interested. As long as he provided enough, it wouldn't be a problem.
After all, which cat could resist fish?
Sure enough, a moment later,
Jerry walked past Mrs. Norris, who was now happily munching on the fish, and headed towards the possible location of the Room of Requirement.
"Found it!"
Jerry's eyes lit up as he saw a large tapestry hanging in the corridor.
A wizard in the tapestry was trying to teach a troll how to dance but was being chased by the troll, who wielded a large club.
If he remembered correctly, the white wall opposite this large tapestry should be the entrance to the Room of Requirement.
Since acquiring the "Mind Enhancer" ability, Jerry found that whenever he activated it and tried to recall his past life's memories, those forgotten details would come back to him clearly.
This allowed him to gradually remember all the Harry Potter movies he had watched, as well as related news, short videos, and trivia from his past life.
The method to enter the Room of Requirement was something he had seen in a trivia video.
"I need that place to hide things!"
Jerry kept this thought in his mind and walked past the white wall three times.
"Click!"
A smooth door suddenly appeared on the previously empty white wall.
"Nice!"
Jerry smiled, grabbed the brass handle, and stepped through the threshold.
The room inside was as large as a cathedral, filled with mountains of various items that had been hidden by students at Hogwarts over the years.
Most of these items were useless, like bottles, hats, boxes, chairs, and bats.
But there were also very useful items, like the flying broom Jerry had come to retrieve this time.
