Chapter 43: A Grand Entrance Requires an Audience
Chapter 43: A Grand Entrance Requires an Audience
"After your death in battle, Senju Hashirama returned your belongings to the clan," Samui said in a calm, detached tone as she recounted the story of the Hagoromo clan over the past decades. "The elders followed the emergency plan you established and slowly dispersed the clan members throughout the Ninja World, helping them assume new identities and continue their lives in hiding."
Hagoromo Xuan Yue nodded as he listened to her account. He had to admit that Senju Hashirama handled the matter with great magnanimity. Not only did he return the clan's belongings after the fact, but he also didn't attempt to eradicate the Hagoromo clan entirely. Instead, he allowed them to continue existing and even instructed Konoha not to antagonize them.
If it had been the evil Senju twins or any of the other Kage, they would have surely seized the opportunity to eliminate this ticking time bomb by their side.
However, one could not rely on others forever. Influenced by Hagoromo Xuan Yue's teachings, the elders of the Hagoromo clan soon made the resolute decision to split up and go their separate ways.
After all, without Hagoromo Xuan Yue's protection, the Hagoromo clan was still a formidable force to many, but they paled in comparison to the power of the five great villages—Konoha, Kiri, Kumo, Iwa, and Suna. These villages had unified the nations, possessed numerous ninja clans, and boasted vast armies of civilian (cannon fodder) ninja.
Especially considering that he had killed the First Mizukage and crippled the First Raikage, it was uncertain if these individuals held grudges and desired retribution.
Indeed, things unfolded as expected. Many ill-intentioned forces began to covertly observe the Hagoromo clan. If the clan hadn't evacuated in time, they might have soon faced a fate similar to the Uzumaki clan in the future.
It was common knowledge that the Uzumaki clan had established their own independent country and possessed a ninja village of their own, backed by their ally, Konoha. Despite these precautions, they couldn't escape the prying eyes of outsiders, ultimately leading to the destruction of their country and the scattering of their clan.
The Hagoromo clan, though lacking the sealing techniques that made the Uzumaki clan famous, had accumulated wealth and power over a millennium, which was more than enough to attract greedy enemies.
While they had to leave many immovable assets behind when they departed from their clan lands years ago, incurring significant economic losses, at least the clan members were safe and scattered throughout the nations. With the help of the great ninja villages, the Hagoromo clan not only avoided the complete decline suffered by the Senju and Uchiha clans but also thrived in their new lives.
Samui, with her esteemed position in Kumogakure, was a prime example. There were also those who became jinchuriki, like the eight-tails, or disciples of renowned sword techniques in Konoha, Iwa, Suna, and even Kirigakure.
Thus, one could never truly judge the outcome of a decision based on the present circumstances.
Hagoromo Xuan Yue suddenly recalled the ambitious vision that Senju Hashirama had shared when he invited the Hagoromo clan to join Konoha and work alongside the Senju and Uchiha clans to shape the future. He shook his head, lost in thought.
"Hashirama, did you ever imagine that Konoha would turn out like this?"
"Clan Head, are you really back this time?" Samui asked, her voice filled with anticipation as she posed the question she had been holding back.
After recounting the situation of the Hagoromo clan and sharing what she knew of the clan's current state, she couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. She looked at Hagoromo Xuan Yue's unusual face, marked with cracks, awaiting his response.
Hagoromo Xuan Yue nodded slightly as he held the Spirit Transformation Technique scroll in his hand. "More or less."
Samui's cold and beautiful features lit up with excitement. She knelt once more, her voice resolute as she declared, "Clan Head, what would you have us do? The Hagoromo clan is forever your weapon and support."
Hagoromo Xuan Yue never expected to encounter a member of the Hagoromo clan here. His plan was to begin his search for them only after he had successfully resurrected.
Then, noticing the three fallen Cloud ninja bodies not far away, he chuckled and added, "The Cloud ninja are certainly eager, going out of their way to reach this place."
It wasn't unusual for Leaf ninja to be in this area, as it was within the Land of Fire. However, Yuiyi Xuan Yue was surprised that the Cloud ninja had traveled so far, even dispatching a team to lurk in the God-Falling Valley, hoping to stumble upon him by chance.
Samui, having heard the story of the Cloud ninja's grudge, provided additional information. "They have always held a grudge against the First Raikage for losing his arm. When they heard that you had reappeared, the Fourth Raikage immediately sent a large number of ninja to search for you, determined to make you pay for the grievance their ancestor suffered."
"From what I know, the Cloud ninja have invested the most effort in this search among the five great ninja villages."
"The First Raikage had a hot-tempered nature, and the ninja he led for decades seem to have inherited that trait." Yuiyi Xuan Yue shook his head slightly.
"Since they don't seem to learn their lesson, let's give them another memorable lesson."
"Yes, Clan Head!"
Samui lowered her body, ready to receive her orders.
Yuiyi Xuan Yue instructed, "Inform the Raikage that I am here."
"Yes!" Samui agreed, a hint of confusion in her eyes, but she didn't ask further questions and simply nodded.
"Also," Yuiyi Xuan Yue said as he turned to the woman before him and pulled out a kunai, "you're too clean."
His words were followed by the sound of piercing flesh and the gush of blood.
Samui let out a muffled hum, remaining still as the kunai pierced her.
"That should do it," Yuiyi Xuan Yue commented.
The ample fat on Samui's body served as a buffer, causing the kunai to fall slightly short of its intended target—her heart.
"Now go," Yuiyi Xuan Yue waved his hand.
Samui bowed respectfully, her hand pressed against her chest. With a quick retreat, she disappeared from the God-Falling Valley.
Yuiyi Xuan Yue, with his hands clasped behind his back, shifted his gaze from Samui's departing figure to the statue that belonged to him.
For such an unprecedented grand entrance into the ninja world, it would be a waste not to have high-profile witnesses.
And the Cloud ninja couldn't have arrived at a more opportune time.
If they were so eager to meet him, he would use this opportunity to announce his return to the ninja world in a grand fashion.
Only gods were meant to look down upon humans.
And those who stood shoulder to shoulder with the gods should be accorded the same treatment.
After Samui's departure, Yuiyi Xuan Yue burned the bodies of the Cloud ninja and jumped onto the head of his statue, settling into a cross-legged sitting position. With the scroll of the Spirit Transformation Technique in hand, he began to study it intently.
It would take time for the Cloud ninja to gather their forces and arrive, giving Yuiyi Xuan Yue sufficient time to learn the Spirit Transformation Technique and complete his resurrection.
Though his definition of "sufficient time" was vastly different from that of others.
For instance, an S-rank jutsu that would typically take others ten days, months, or even years to master was something Yuiyi Xuan Yue could grasp after reading and attempting it a few times.
With the formulas, answers, and solution processes laid out clearly before him, learning it was a straightforward task.
Was it not?
"It's time for the final step," Yuiyi Xuan Yue declared, rising to his feet and making his decision without hesitation.
