Chapter 429: Misha's Trial (Part 1)
“Not bad at all—quite the crowd,” Xia Ye Qiu Yu surveyed the area. The small clearing teemed with nearly three hundred Players, most of them Spellcasters, with an average level already at Sixth Level. The bulletin board in Isdalia clearly stated that only Sorcerers of Fifth Level or higher were eligible for the Dragon Oath Mage advancement.
Of course, numerous elite guilds had sent fully equipped, well-balanced Adventure Parties—each aiming to help their Sorcerer complete the career transition. Renowned elite guilds like Royal Power, Sword Pavilion, Mechanical Divinity, and Magic Coin had dispatched their finest teams, all determined to secure a spot among the coveted Dragon Oath Mage名额.
The air buzzed with chatter. Elite parties began setting up strategies, though most of it was just hot air.
“Our Guild Leader said this advancement slot is extremely rare—we must claim one!”
“This is the only official spellcasting advancement offered by NowOfficial. Its power is undeniable.”
“War狂哥 himself said we have to get in. One of our guild’s top researchers needs a furnace hotter than 1,000 degrees Celsius—your job is to be the human heating element!”
“Wait, our guild’s elites are getting crazier by the day. Last week, one of them asked me if I’d be interested in joining a species hybridization experiment. When I asked what the job was, he said, ‘You’ll be the experience point subject.’”
“Reforge the Glory of the Mage—this is our sacred duty!”
“Wait, isn’t this for Sorcerers? Only Mages are true Mages, right? Eh, whatever—still magic class, close enough!”
“Where’s the Sister Witch this time? What? She said she prefers her original Wild Wizard form? Seriously?”
Meanwhile, Xia Ye Qiu Yu’s own group—the Five Fireball Cult—wasn’t a formal guild at all. More of a casual spellcasting enthusiasts’ circle, with little real power.
“Still… I’m not exactly alone.”
A roar echoed from the sky.
“Whoa—?”
“Is there a Two-Headed Dragon here too?”
“No, wait—it’s that damn Stuffed Bun!”
“He fined me fifty Copper Coins last time! And locked me in the dungeon for two days!”
“How come he shows up everywhere? Damn it!”
Two Wyverns beat their wings through the air, roaring loudly before slowly descending. The ground trembled as they landed, kicking up thick clouds of dust.
“Cough, cough!”
“God, he really loves showing off, doesn’t he?”
Players groaned and muttered as Stuffed Bun and Singo leapt gracefully from the Wyvern’s backs, landing amidst the swirling dust in a flourish of dramatic flair.
Stuffed Bun, brimming with confidence, declared:
“The strongest always arrive last!”
“Qiu Yu—we’re here!”
“Hmph. With our Four-Class Team fully assembled, this minor Advanced Quest should be—”
“Wait. Where’s War Fury Brother?”
They finally noticed a massive, muscular man slumped across the second Wyvern’s back—none other than Tian Sheng Zhan Kuang, the top-tier Barbarian Player.
But his condition was far from ideal.
His eyes were shut tight, arms locked around the Wyvern’s back with immense strength, the sheer grip making the beast cry out in pain.
“Is that Black Slave Four?”
“Wait, why’s he asleep?”
“Youth these days—can sleep through anything, even a flight.”
The aura of dominance Stuffed Bun had just conjured evaporated instantly. The crowd erupted in laughter.
Stuffed Bun scratched his head, chuckling awkwardly.
“Uh-haha… War Fury Brother’s just a bit dizzy from the flight. Give him a sec.”
He stepped forward, gave Tian Sheng Zhan Kuang’s bald head a friendly slap.
“War Fury Brother? Wake up! We’re here. The whole Home’s waiting!”
Tian Sheng Zhan Kuang blinked awake, staggered down from the Wyvern’s back, rubbing his shiny scalp.
“Sorry, everyone. Took me a bit to shake off the dizziness. Old habit.”
Even Xia Ye Qiu Yu couldn’t help but twitch her lips.
“War Fury Brother… next time, maybe we skip the Two-Headed Dragon. Just take a Fire Car and walk the rest.”
Now, at last, the team was fully assembled.
Stuffed Bun crossed his arms, forcing a confident stance and reciting a carefully rehearsed line:
“Hmph. With our Four-Class Team united, this petty Advanced Quest is nothing but—”
But as the saying goes: One strike of courage, then two falter, then three collapse.
Stuffed Bun’s energy had already drained. His presence lacked the fire of their previous encounters, drawing nothing but snickers from the onlookers.
“Who the hell are you?”
“Who asked you?”
“Oh, it’s that Charisma 9 Stuffed Bun!”
“Bread, stop showing off here. Go edit your videos at home.”
Singo clapped a hand on Stuffed Bun’s shoulder, sighing.
“Let’s just stop embarrassing ourselves. I’ve seen so many pretenders—you take the prize for worst.”
Xia Ye Qiu Yu sighed.
“Alright, enough of this. Let’s get serious.”
Hearing that, Tian Sheng Zhan Kuang stepped closer.
Xia Ye Qiu Yu pulled out a map and pointed toward the distant, massive fissure.
“I’ve done thorough preparation. I picked up some internal intelligence from the Magic Ministry’s people.”
Inside the chasm, scorching white smoke billowed endlessly. The ground was a wasteland of molten lava, rivers of crimson lava flowing like blood, bubbling constantly, releasing toxic gases. The air itself seemed to shimmer with heat, as if about to ignite.
This was the only entrance to the Tower of Conflagration—the starting point of this Trial: the Molten Cavern.
“First stage: Path of Burning.”
“Inside, it’s all magma—temperatures are lethal. Toxic volcanic gases fill the air. Only those with over 7% Red Dragon Bloodline can survive without dying. You’ll need Heat-Resistant Elixir and Breath-Holding Elixir to make it through.”
She scanned the three of them with her Vision. Their bodies were already covered in Red Dragon traits—scales, fiery eyes, heat-resistant skin.
She chuckled, shaking her head.
“Fine. That’s not an issue for you.”
“Next, the monsters.”
“Steam Demon Bat—small demonic bats that breathe superheated air, creating boiling rain. Explode on death.”
“Magma Stone Golem—large elemental constructs, immensely strong, capable of hurling burning sulfur blocks.”
“Fire Lizard—spits burning mucus, a wingless, smaller version of a Two-Headed Dragon.”
“Fire Element—just a floating, roaring mass of flame.”
Xia Ye Qiu Yu explained in detail, while the others listened intently.
Then, from the distance, came a chorus of wails—and the sharp crackle of burning flesh.
“Holy—!”
“What kind of hellhole is this?! It’s scorching!”
“My clothes are on fire!”
“I can’t breathe! The air’s toxic!”
Not every Player had the full intelligence. Most solo adventurers were just winging it, relying on luck.
Hearing their panic, Xia Ye Qiu Yu smiled—delightfully.
“Come on. Looks like someone’s already cleared the path for us.”
“Fire burning… so soothing.”
She grinned, utterly serene.
The smile chilled the air.
Stuffed Bun wiped sweat from his brow, shivering slightly.
Damn… the great spellcasters all have their strange quirks.
Yeah, I’ve known it for a while—Qiu Yu’s a gentle girl on the outside, but beneath… she’s a hidden force.
War Fury Brother goes berserk, no mercy. Hardcore players are just full-on madmen.
…Guess I’m the only sane one here.
He let out a long, weary sigh, then carefully applied precision oil to his sword before stepping forward, following the others into the inferno.
