Chapter 429: Loren Believed Everything Would Turn Out Fine
Chapter 429: Loren Believed Everything Would Turn Out Fine
Outside the metal doors of the Sinora Special Cell in the negative fifth floor of Helrom Prison.
Hyberrian watched with a heavy heart as Da'ai Poet followed Anthanas into the translucent barrier of the cell, unable to shake off their worries for them.
Even back when they were in the Inferno Corridor Academy, they had never come into contact with ancient and unfamiliar Greater Demons.
The Ice Snow Witch, aware that Hyberrian had grown up in human society and lacked understanding of the culture of the Demon tribe and the personalities and behaviors of the upper-echelon Greater Nobles, had especially emphasized to her—
For demons, taking the life of another being requires no reason, nor do they feel guilt. They act on their whims without hesitation.
Even when demons occasionally hide their true nature and attempt to blend in with humans, they are merely two humanoid species with similar appearances.
According to the Ice Snow Witch, Sinora the Lawbreaker and Planar the Truth Seeker were both Greater Demons with cruel and violent tendencies. In their eyes, not only humans but even weaker demons were as insignificant as ants. If anyone dared to offend them, they would be killed before they even realized it.
To Sinora and Planar, the entry of a Protoss into their special cell, regardless of whether they spoke a word or not, was enough to consider them mortal enemies.
Perhaps Anthanas could hold off Sinora for a moment, but Anthanas was at a severe disadvantage against Sinora, and not much help could be expected from her.
Once they voiced their desire to take the demons out of prison as slaves, they would surely fly into a rage, possibly breaking through the barrier and rushing out of the cell in a frenzy.
Therefore, standing outside the cell was still extremely dangerous.
Hyberrian tensed her nerves and remained on high alert. If things took a turn for the worse, she would recall Da'ai Poet at the first opportunity and make a run for it.
In the High-Dimensional Observation Space.
The Ice Snow Witch rose from her sofa.
Seeing Da'ai Poet and Anthanas enter a negative fifth-floor cell, although she couldn't discern the situation within, she knew what was being held inside.
"I told you not to mess with Sinora and Planar, didn't I?"
She had explained the dangers so clearly to Hyberrian, yet she didn't understand why Hyberrian would still listen to that boy, Lanchi.
Even if Lanchi could control the summon that looked identical to Talia, it would be of no use against Sinora. Sinora wasn't as emotionally attached as Anthanas was to the princess.
Judging from the previous conversation between Hyberrian, Da'ai Poet, and Anthanas on the negative fourth floor, they were currently living comfortably among the Protoss and could easily take Anthanas away without needing to release Sinora the Lawbreaker and Planar the Truth Seeker to act as decoys.
The Ice Snow Witch didn't view Hyberrian as an indecisive girl; she was rational and should have a clear understanding of what she could and couldn't do.
The only explanation was that Hyberrian placed too much unconditional trust in that boy.
"Loren...!!"
The Ice Snow Witch glared at Loren, her eyes filled with anger as if her precious disciple had been deceived by a bad man.
And that bad man was Loren's own student!
"... "
Loren kept his head down, pretending to study the layout of Helrom Prison, but he was already drenched in sweat, each second feeling like an eternity.
Loren had no idea about the specifics of the priestly task at hand, but he could vaguely sense the Ice Snow Witch's anger.
It was clear that Lanchi was up to something extremely reckless with Hyberrian, even disregarding the Ice Snow Witch's warnings.
Loren could guess that the situation in the Northern Continent wasn't favorable. In recent months, the Destruction Bishop Ivanoth and the Decay Bishop Farmer had become more active in the Southern Continent, and the schemes of the Resurrection Church continued unabated. Moreover, it was certain that the Fate Goddess Church on the Northern Continent had no spare capacity to intervene in the South.
For this reason, Juliana of the Aloran Kingdom had been unable to leave and pay him a visit in the Kingdom of Horton, despite her mentioning it several times. She had intended to discuss with him the previous matters concerning their "date" and the "academic visit incident." However, the turbulent times had prevented her from making the trip.
This turn of events had come as a relief to Loren.
If Juliana had come to Ikelite to see him, all the women he struggled to handle in the Kingdom of Horton would have been stirred up.
Thankfully, it was improbable that Juliana would honor that absurd bet and go on a date with him in the royal capital; otherwise, chaos might have ensued.
Taking a step back, the stalemate between the Northern and Southern Continents couldn't be broken anytime soon, creating a sort of balance that prevented them, as eighth-rank powerhouses of the alliance, from acting recklessly.
However...
What was Lanchi up to now? Was this prison break related to the stone tablet observation project?
The only thing Loren could be grateful for was that Lanchi was merely a student of the Ikelite Sage's Institute and not his personally mentored disciple. If something major happened, at least it wouldn't implicate him or the church as the Grand Priest.
With this thought, although the present moment was challenging, Loren believed that enduring this trial would lead to better days ahead.
The Grand Knight looked at the Ice Snow Witch in confusion, then at Loren, unsure of what was happening.
But at this moment, it felt right to focus on Loren.
"Dear friend, are you troubled by something?" the Grand Knight asked himself.
...
As Da'ai Poet followed Anthanas into Sinora's special cell, they stepped into a dim and enclosed space, with the only source of light being the faint glow from the ventilation shaft in the ceiling, casting vague columns of light in the vast space.
In the murky light and shadows, a vague figure sat quietly in the depths of the cell.
She had a head of deep, midnight-like hair that fell smoothly over her shoulders. Aside from her demonic features, her skin was pale as frost under the moonlight. She didn't seem to be restrained by excessive chains, yet she sat there quietly, her eyes peacefully closed as if she chose to shut out the world.
Her posture was graceful, her spine straight, and her hands rested gently on her knees. Even though she wore a prison uniform marked with binding curse seals, her demeanor gave the impression that she was dressed in a long skirt.
But the powerful aura emanating from her, shrouded in death-like magic, was enough to strike fear into the hearts of any living being, despite her unassuming demeanor.
Despite this, neither Anthanas nor Da'ai Poet showed any signs of retreat. Instead, they continued to approach her.
Sinora showed no reaction to the arrival of the two trainee jailers, paying them no mind.
If it weren't for Anthanas' intelligence, it would have been difficult for Lanchi to imagine that this demoness had closed her eyes to conceal a weakness.
Just as Lanchi had initially found it hard to imagine Talia's voracious appetite when he first met her in the South Vinatina domain.
