Chapter 428: Lanchi Discovers Further Optimization is Possible
Chapter 428: Lanchi Discovers Further Optimization is Possible
In the Minus Five Layer Transfer Hall of Herrom Prison, the group paused briefly to communicate before resuming their journey.
With their next destination confirmed, they followed Anatans, temporarily leaving the exit transfer hall and traversing the Minus Five Layer of the prison towards Sinora's special cell.
Guided by the deep red text on their bracelets, the optimal route to the law-breaking Sinora's cell was laid out before them.
They could now clearly see which cell on the Minus Five Layer of the prison held the great demon, Sinora, breaker of laws.
Sinora's cell was not far from the exit transfer hall, and with Anatans, an information system personnel with a barrier coverage, leading the way, they could safely avoid Anatans' phantoms.
"When we meet Sinora later, you stand at the door and don't come any closer," Anatans instructed Great Love Poet as she led the way. "If she shows any hostility towards you, just back off immediately. I'll stand between you and her."
Anatans considered Talia's daughter as her own goddaughter, and even without a contract, she was determined to protect her.
"No problem," Lanchi nodded.
For now, he couldn't explain the peculiarities of Great Love Poet.
He would have to wait until they returned to school and show Anatans his true form and the fact that Great Love Poet was a summon.
"Sigh, if only you were a boy," Anatans suddenly sighed.
"Why do you say that?" Lanchi asked, puzzled by her statement.
He was indeed male, but Anatans didn't believe him.
"Do you know why the law-breaker Sinora keeps her eyes closed?" Anatans asked, looking at Lanchi and Huperian.
"..."
Lanchi and Huperian exchanged confused glances, both shaking their heads after a few seconds. The Ice Snow Witch had never mentioned this.
However, in the portrait Lanchi had drawn earlier, Sinora, the law-breaker, indeed had her eyes closed.
Perhaps it wasn't out of tiredness but a preference to keep her eyes shut.
"Please enlighten us, Miss Anatans," Huperian said.
"Take a guess first," Anatans said, lowering her voice as if she had been eager to share this gossip.
"..."
Huperian realized that Anatans was quite the chatterbox among demons, knowing more than even the Ice Snow Witch.
No wonder Anatans and Talia got along so well. Anatans probably enjoyed chatting away while Talia listened, which was certainly more fulfilling than Talia sitting alone in her recliner reading about miscellaneous matters.
"Usually, those who squint their eyes are monsters," Huperian mused, recalling various storybooks and novels she had read. "Or perhaps Sinora's eyes hold a powerful technique, and once she opens them, she enters a whole new level of power."
Huperian ventured a guess.
"No," Anatans shook her head. "Sinora actually struggles when dealing with men, especially handsome adversaries. Over time, she chose to close her eyes, even if it meant a decrease in her combat strength, rather than face distractions and hesitations during battles."
"..."
Huperian was at a loss for words.
The old demon world was indeed a place of shining stars.
"You and Talia are so alike. If you were a boy, you would probably be very handsome, and with your temperament, even more so than Talia. You would definitely be able to disturb Sinora's heart," Anatans speculated, imagining the scenario as she observed Great Love Poet's face.
"I see," Lanchi responded calmly to Anatans, taking her words as interesting demon folklore and not offering any further comment.
Since being mistaken for Great Love Poet by Anatans and being unable to explain himself, Lanchi felt that Talia's face was a bit of a double-edged sword.
Now he realized that Talia's face did have a negative impact on his combat effectiveness.
Perhaps it would be better for him to negotiate with the demon clan directly in his true form.
There was still room for optimization within the demon world's team.
"..."
Huperian stared at the black-haired, green-eyed Great Love Poet, confusion furrowing her brow as she recalled Lanchi's original appearance.
She had never really distinguished between handsome and not when it came to males, as everyone had always told her that her father was the most handsome, making her feel that all other men were more or less the same.
However, she had often heard others praise Lanchi's looks, saying he was no less handsome than Duke Michella...
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Lanchi's question held a hint of suspicion as he met Huperian's gaze.
"Oh, it's nothing," Huperian quickly averted her eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll be able to negotiate with Sinora, the breaker of laws. You can just wait outside the cell with Anatans." Lanchi's confidence had nothing to do with his current appearance.
The prison area they passed through had intricate corridors, and they could no longer see any other guards on duty. The cells were locked with thick metal doors, and the walls on both sides were made of Anti-Magic Steel, covered with thick curse seals. These seals lit up and went out regularly, like breathing, in a constant cycle.
Following the map on their bracelets, Anatans led them through corridor after corridor until they reached Sinora's cell.
The door to this cell looked no different from the others.
However, they now knew that the inner space of the cell was definitely reinforced and completely different from that of ordinary prisoners. It was impossible to break through by force.
After paying the duty points at the door, the complex sealing mechanism began to unlock with a metallic twisting sound, and mist emerged from within.
Once the door was fully opened, a semi-transparent barrier was left in its place, sealing off all sounds from within.
Anatans and Great Love Poet were ready to enter the cell.
"Be careful, and don't do anything reckless," Huperian cautioned as she released Great Love Poet's arm, seeing him off.
Although Great Love Poet was immortal, if Lanchi was killed in this state, he would truly experience death. No one knew if it would cause soul damage to Lanchi, whose will was currently in control.
Compared to Anatans, a stable and reliable demon, Sinora was an entirely different existence, one who would not hesitate to be cruel.
"Rest assured," Lanchi assured her, his gaze fixed on Huperian. He flashed a lopsided grin, gradually shifting his focus and attention from the Protoss Royal Academy to Herrom Prison.
To him, it felt like the blink of an eye, and when he came to his senses, he found himself led to the target cell.
Huperian stared into Lanchi's bright eyes, just returned to his senses, and for some reason, she was stunned.
In those familiar eyes, besides clarity, she thought she glimpsed a flash of emerald demon eyes in that fleeting moment.
Great Love Poet indeed had demon eyes, but they should be blue.
Staring intently at Lanchi, she confirmed that they were indeed human pupils, and she couldn't understand why she had that illusion earlier.
This feeling was something she had never experienced, not even with the principal of the Inferno Corridor Academy, the Radiant Devil who wielded lightning.
