Chapter 428: Instant Kill Strategy
Chapter 428: Instant Kill Strategy
"Choosing to expose his position so soon...?" Si Yu muttered before the screen in the conference room, "Long Ge is being awfully confident."
Bei Ling added, "Perhaps... because he understands Xiao Tan's combat style well, he feels certain about a direct confrontation."
Si Yu turned to Feng Bu Jue. "How would you handle this fight?"
"Hmm... I'd set a visible trap using a rope and grenade. Then, right behind it, I'd place a second, more concealed trap with a shovel and another grenade. Oh, and I’d carve 'Why_so_serious?' on the wall near the second trap", Feng Bu Jue replied in ten rapid points. "After that, cut the tunnel’s power or smash all nearby lights. Then... just wait."
"There’s an extra step in there somewhere..." Si Yu finally caught himself adopting their sarcastic habit.
"Enough, let’s just watch the match", Bei Ling interrupted, her gaze fixed anxiously on the display.
...
Meanwhile, the system split the screen between Wang Tan Zhi and Long Ao Min.
Onscreen, Long Ge fell silent after his roar, straining his ears to detect Xiao Tan’s movements. But aside from the echo of his own voice, there was nothing.
Xiao Tan’s reaction was equally calm. He knew his strengths and recognized the scenario Long Ge hoped for. Thus, he turned his back to the direction of the shout and swiftly moved the other way.
A head-on fight was undoubtedly Long Ao Min’s specialty. His defensive capabilities were comprehensive, particularly effective against agile players wielding bladed weapons.
Common sword or dagger attacks could barely scratch him—he could either block with his shield or absorb the damage with his armor. Against mid-tier skill attacks, he’d counter with defensive skills. Even if his defense broke, he wouldn’t suffer significant vitality loss.
Additionally, Long Ge possessed passive medicine-type skills, and his attire and equipment leaned toward defense and restoration. As long as attackers slowed their pace or power, giving him breathing room, he’d start regenerating health.
If his opponent used hammers, staves, or martial arts for blunt-force attacks, Long Ge would face more pressure due to their impact damage. But against blade-wielders, whose slashing and stabbing techniques lacked raw power, most attacks would fail to pierce his defense.
Thus, in conventional offense-defence exchanges, Long Ao Min needed only to "avoid gaps" to dominate. As a defender, his stamina consumption was far lower than attackers’. The longer the combat dragged on, the more his endurance advantage grew.
Meng Jing Chan’s loss stemmed from failing to break through in prolonged engagements, leaving him trapped. By the time he realized Long Ge’s tactic, it was too late—hesitating meant facing Long Ge’s regeneration, while pushing harder drained his stamina. Caught between a rock and a hard place, Brother Chou He Tang was swept away in one fell swoop by Long Ge.
Had they faced off again, Meng Jing Chan would’ve launched an all-out assault at the start, aiming to end the fight before his stamina faded. Alas, victory and defeat leave no room for "what-ifs."
Naturally, Xiao Tan wouldn’t repeat Meng Jing Chan’s mistake. He understood Long Ao Min’s traits from the outset, so his plan was crystal clear—one strike, one instant kill.
"No response and no noise..." Long Ge waited in place for roughly two minutes, thinking. "To my knowledge, Xiao Tan only has one evasion skill, and it requires crowds to activate. In this environment... even if he’s fast, approaching me would alert me early." He speculated further, "Xiao Tan’s clever, not as reckless as Feng Bu Jue, but still sharp. Given his understanding of me..." He paused, "...he’s probably..."
Long Ao Min soon deduced Xiao Tan was fleeing, muttering, "So he’s not playing into my hands... Doesn’t matter." He seemed relaxed, casually choosing a direction to advance.
...
"Oh, there’s method in his madness", Feng Bu Jue suddenly remarked cryptically.
"What did you notice?" Si Yu asked.
"About Long Ge’s shout earlier..." Feng Bu Jue leaned back, addressing Si Yu. "It looks like he exposed his position, but really... it’s an aggressive tactic."
"Too much of a stretch, Commander", Bei Ling couldn’t see the point.
Feng Bu Jue countered, "You see... Long Ge isn’t afraid of close combat. He knows Xiao Tan can’t eliminate him with ranged attacks. So even if his position is clear, he’s not worried about ambushes."
"Then why shout at all?" Si Yu asked.
"Wrong", Feng Bu Jue shook his head. "There’s a fundamental difference." He pointed at Xiao Tan on the split-screen. "Right now, he knows his opponent’s position." Then at Long Ao Min, "But he doesn’t know the enemy’s direction."
"Oh! I get it", Bei Ling had an epiphany. "Passive play!"
"Exactly", Si Yu caught on. "Xiao Tan is intentionally moving(End of Chapter)
