Chapter 427: Peter: I'm Really in a Tough Spot!
Chapter 427: Peter: I'm Really in a Tough Spot! (4000 Words Combined)
Sirius Black strode up to Peter, forcibly pulling back his sleeve, only to find nothing on Peter's chubby wrist.
"It's not here!" Sirius was not surprised. As a spy, Peter would not have the Dark Mark in such an obvious place.
He then roughly pulled off Peter's shirt, preparing to check his chest and arms, while Peter struggled and screamed in a pitiful voice.
As if breaking some threshold, Peter's body suddenly began to shrink, transforming into a Rat. The ropes binding him fell off automatically.
"Transform back, Peter! If you don't want to die!" Sirius growled, reaching out to grab the gray-Black Rat's tail.
Peter tried to dodge in terror, but the weakening spell Ivan had cast on him was still in effect, making him much slower than an ordinary Rat.
At that moment, a red light suddenly appeared, and the unprepared Sirius was immediately knocked flying, crashing into the nearby wall.
"Who's there?"
The sudden anomaly startled everyone. Ivan immediately waved his Wand, firing a magic beam toward the door, from where the red light had come.
A transparent magical barrier slowly rose at the empty doorway, blocking the beam.
However, the magical fluctuation also dispelled the Disillusionment Charm, revealing Severus Snape in his Black robes.
"Pro-Professor Snape?" Hermione stammered in a high-pitched voice.
"Excellent, let's see what I've found!" Snape ignored Hermione and glanced around the room. His gaze lingered on Sirius for a moment before shifting to the bound Ron and the tear-streaked Harry.
"Remus! I was right all along, you've been helping Black sneak into the Castle. I never expected you to be so bold as to use this old place as your hideout. It took me a while to find you."
"But you were clever, choosing the right moment! If not for Malfoy's sharpness in discovering your Werewolf identity and reporting your suspicious actions, you might have succeeded today!"
Snape's face was full of barely contained triumph. After enduring half a school year, he had finally caught Remus!
If everything went as planned, Remus and Sirius would be sent to Azkaban together, and the Dementors would be delighted to give them a kiss!
Nothing could make him happier than that!
Hearing Snape's words, Remus's face changed. He hadn't realized Snape had been following him.
It was the Wolfsbane Potion!
Remus quickly realized this. The Wolfsbane Potion Snape had given him had weakened his senses, making him very feeble.
As a result, he hadn't noticed anyone following him the entire time.
"Severus, you're mistaken! I think you arrived just now and didn't hear what we were saying. Sirius didn't come to kill Harry; it was all Peter's doing."
A look of urgency appeared on Remus's face, but before he could finish, Snape interrupted him.
"Don't try to trick me! Peter is dead, and James is too! Now it's just the two of you left. Once I deal with you, there will be no more of this nonsense!" Snape shouted.
"Professor, Professor Lupin isn't lying. Peter is the real traitor", Harry spoke up bravely from the side.
"Shut up, Potter! I remember you should be safely in Hogwarts Castle, under the watchful eyes of all the Professors!
I think it's time you learned some sense, believing a Werewolf and a murderer. Now, when things go wrong, all you do is cry!"
Snape glared at Harry, deeply disappointed. Harry had repeatedly broken school rules and now had ventured out on his own. He should have cast a spell to lock him in the school.
Harry was furious, unable to speak for a while. He had his own thoughts and judgments. He could go wherever he wanted without being treated like an infant!
"Professor Snape, didn't you hear Peter's voice outside just now? He's an Animagus, and he's now a Rat", Ivan said urgently, his gaze fixed on Peter's movements, unlike the others.
The gray-Black Rat was struggling with its weak body, slowly crawling towards the exit. Ivan raised his Wand and was about to act.
However, this triggered Snape's fragile nerves, as he was standing right at the exit. Ivan's Wand seemed to be pointing at him.
"Enough! Do you think I would fall for your cheap tricks? Don't move a muscle! I'll consider listening to your explanations after I tie you all up!"
Snape said sternly, pointing his Wand at Ivan and Lupin, not daring to take his eyes off them. He certainly didn't dare to look down at any Rat.
Although he had immediately knocked out Sirius Black, the two men in front of him were a significant threat. Even the slightest slip could leave him vulnerable.
Considering this, Snape acted without warning, firing a white beam of light directly at Lupin.
Lupin was in poor condition, and his reaction was slow. He barely managed to conjure a magical barrier to block the beam, but it still hit him and knocked him to the ground.
Seeing Lupin attacked and Peter slipping towards the door, Ivan no longer hesitated.
"Flock of Birds!" Ivan waved his Wand. Since he was dealing with Snape and Peter, he didn't use lethal spells.
Under the influence of magic, the surrounding debris and wooden boards quickly transformed. In a moment, a flock of birds had gathered, darting towards the door like arrows.
Half of them were to distract Snape, while the other half targeted Peter!
However, Ivan's plan fell through. Snape casually flicked his Wand, and a Black beam exploded in mid-air, corroding the birds before they could get close.
After absorbing the nutrients, Black flames emerged from the remains of the corroded birds, growing wildly and sweeping forward.
Peter was weaving through the intense battlefield, his heart pounding. Dangerous beams of light zipped over his head, and spells occasionally landed near him.
Peter could only do his best to dodge, praying he would escape successfully.
In the chaos, a spell hit Snape, but it was deflected, flying towards Peter.
He narrowly jumped out of the way, but the aftershock still sent him flying into the air, crashing into the door.
Peter squealed, bruised and battered, his face a mess, but he couldn't hide his excitement. The exit was right in front of him, and he was about to escape!
Thinking of this, Peter ignored his weakness, crawling and rolling over the threshold, running towards the evening sunset.
The relief of escaping death filled Peter's mind.
Suddenly, a thin, bony hand reached out from the shadows, grabbed its tail, and lifted it up.
The intense battle continued inside the room.
"Hals, I never thought you would conspire with Black. It seems you were the one who brought Potter and Weasley, those fools, here!"
Snape said harshly, his actions not stopping as he fired several spells, even considering using some high-intensity curses!
After all, Ivan's strength far exceeded his expectations.
He had initially thought that even though Ivan was talented and far more powerful than his peers, he was still young, and at most, he would be on par with an average adult wizard or an Auror.
But to his surprise, even with holding back, he couldn't bring him down quickly!
Ivan used his Wand to summon a round table to block Snape's attack.
He had watched Peter frantically escape through the door, feeling both urgent and helpless.
Although he had Dobby watching in the shadows, it wasn't a foolproof plan.
Snape had used a Disillusionment Charm to slip in unnoticed, and Dobby hadn't detected him.
Thinking of this, Ivan steeled himself, deciding to use his blood magic to end the fight, no matter the risk of exposure. He couldn't let this drag on any longer!
Ivan closed his eyes, and when he opened them, his eyes had turned to orange-yellow snake eyes.
Snape was completely unprepared. The moment their eyes met, a bone-chilling cold swept over him, and his body stiffened, his consciousness feeling like it was being sucked in.
However, Ivan's condition was not much better. Severus Snape's magic power was more than three times greater than his, and the disparity in total power made the consumption extremely intense, like a floodgate opening and magic pouring out uncontrollably!
This made Ivan inwardly curse. He had used the Basilisk’s Eye to quickly resolve the battle, but unexpectedly found himself in a situation where he was forced to compete in magic power.
"Expelliarmus!"
At this moment, Lupin, who had recovered from being on the ground, seized the opportunity and waved his Wand, sending a beam of light towards Severus Snape.
Unable to dodge, Severus Snape was hit directly, and the Shield Charm on his body glowed, blocking the spell.
However, due to the previous battle, the protection from the Shield Charm had been significantly weakened, and it quickly shattered after absorbing the Disarming Charm's power.
Severus Snape was pushed back several steps, breaking free from the Basilisk’s Eye's control.
Feeling his stiff body, Severus Snape was greatly alarmed. The kind of magic that could petrify someone with just a glance was something he had never heard of before!
On the other side, Ivan had already closed the Basilisk’s Eye and was panting heavily.
This use of the Basilisk’s Eye on Severus Snape revealed another weakness to Ivan: it should not be used on someone whose magic power far exceeds his own!
In less than a second, he had already lost a third of his magic power, and Severus Snape did not appear to have completely lost his fighting ability.
Severus Snape moved his stiff wrist, checking Ivan's condition through the reflection in the broken glass on the ground. Upon realizing that Ivan was significantly drained, he slowly relaxed.
If such a spell could be used without limit, it would be terrifying!
Fortunately, it seemed to have some limitations.
While this was happening, Lupin had already stood up, and the situation had returned to a two-on-one confrontation.
"
"Waste time?"
Severus Snape's face turned sour. He first frowned, then said disdainfully,
"Very well, it seems that my previous restraint gave you the illusion that you could easily defeat me? Remus, times have changed, and numbers aren't as useful as they used to be!"
As he spoke, something seemed to come to mind, and his face twisted into a grimace. He raised his stiff wrist, and an invisible blade began to form at the tip of his Wand.
"Today is your and Sirius Black's last day, and no one can save you!" Severus Snape roared.
"Not necessarily, sir!"
A sharp, peculiar voice suddenly sounded from the doorframe.
Severus Snape's face changed drastically as he felt a violent collision at his waist. His Wand flew out of his hand, and his body was thrown to the side, landing next to a rotting cabinet.
Then, a small house-elf walked in, holding a miserable-looking gray-Black Rat.
"Good job, Dobby!" Ivan breathed a sigh of relief and immediately waved his Wand, transfiguring a rope to tie up Severus Snape.
Lupin also put away his Wand and hurried over to check on Sirius Black.
"Professor Snape! If you can set aside your prejudices against Professor Lupin and Sirius Black, and think carefully, you should know we are not lying", Ivan shrugged and explained.
Severus Snape did not respond. Although he could not move, he glared at Ivan and the others viciously.
"I think we need to teach him a lesson to make him behave!" Sirius Black, supported by Lupin, stood up. Thinking about how he had been caught off guard and knocked unconscious by Severus Snape, he was furious.
"Save it, don't cause more trouble. If it weren't for the cruel pranks you played in the past, we wouldn't have this misunderstanding today!" Ivan said irritably.
You told him about that?
Sirius Black looked at Lupin in confusion, but Lupin was equally puzzled.
After a moment's thought, both turned to look at the gray-Black Rat in Dobby's hand.
It must be Peter!
Peter, held by Dobby, thought Sirius Black and Lupin were looking for him to settle accounts, and his heart sank.
