Chapter 423: Gravitational Funnel
Chapter 423: Gravitational Funnel
"Australia?" Prime Minister Cao looked at Plante, his eyes narrowing slightly.
In reality, the Skrulls' offer was quite generous when analyzed rationally. After all, the Skrulls' technology and the strength of their cultivators were centuries ahead of Earth's humans. Instead of exterminating humanity, they were offering to leave 8 million square kilometers of land, which was already quite merciful.
However, Prime Minister Cao had once heard a young man say, "What you cannot achieve on the battlefield, you cannot achieve at the negotiating table."
If he agreed, it would be a devastating blow to human morale. Moreover, with a global population of 7.7 billion, relocating everyone to the relatively small area of Australia, which includes vast deserts, would result in countless deaths. The struggle for space, food, and water would lead to unimaginable internal conflicts.
As the ancients said, "To appease Qin with land is like trying to put out a fire by embracing more wood."
If humanity surrendered and moved to Australia, would the Skrulls really let them off? Would they not tear up the agreement and annihilate humanity in the future?
Therefore, no matter what, Prime Minister Cao refused to agree.
After clarifying his thoughts, he looked at Plante with disdain. "Sorry, I refuse!"
Plante, however, did not get angry. He smiled and shook his head. "You don't have to rush into a decision. I'll give you three days to consider it. We'll discuss this again in three days."
With that, Plante piloted his golden mech and returned to the ranks of the Skrull god-level warriors.
...
The Skrull god-level warriors heard Prime Minister Cao's refusal and exchanged glances.
A few of them were furious, especially the two god-level members of the Deep Sea Dragon Clan, who were itching to attack.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let's move in. With our numbers, we can eliminate this Earth human now!" A blue-and-white, slender Deep Sea Dragon spread its broad wings, ready to attack.
However, the god-level warrior from the Rengke Alliance, "Shining Empress" Victoria, flashed in front of it. "Sir Cadrigus, calm down! This Earth human has said he will self-destruct and melt the polar ice caps before dying. This will flood countless coastal cities and cause massive casualties among your people due to rising water temperatures!"
"So what if a few of my people die? It's not a big deal. You're being too indecisive!" The Deep Sea Dragon sneered at Victoria. "Typical of a female, all style and no substance."
"What did you say?!" Victoria was immediately enraged. Who did this "little eel" think he was, speaking to her like that? She would show him what it meant to mess with her!
Victoria channeled her psychic energy, and layers of colorless, transparent matter rapidly gathered around her head, causing ripples in the air.
"Enough!" Plante appeared between Victoria and the Deep Sea Dragon as if he had teleported. "There's no need to argue over this. I've already given this Earth human three days to consider his decision. We'll see the results in three days."
He then looked at all the god-level warriors present. "Ladies and gentlemen, I am confident that I can persuade him to surrender to us in three days."
"Oh? What do you plan to do?" asked a bird-like god-level warrior with white feathers, flapping its wings.
"The answer is simple," Plante said, emphasizing each word. "Gravitational Funnel."
The god-level warriors nodded in unison.
They had all heard of the "Gravitational Funnel," an advanced technology. If this Earth human was a patriot, there was a real possibility he would surrender!
On the ice at the South Pole, the Skrull god-level warriors earnestly discussed the issue of Prime Minister Cao's surrender.
At the same time, a significant event was unfolding in the capital of the Renkter Federation, Trenar City.
In the central square of Trenar City, Emperor Manina XIII of the Lyrion Empire stood proudly. As the emperor of a rival nation, he rarely had the chance to be here.
Emperor Manina XIII was dressed in polished golden armor, with a scarlet cloak billowing in the wind.
To his north lay the ruins of the Renkter Parliament, which had been destroyed by Su Yu and the Morning Star, leaving only a charred and desolate wasteland.
Surrounding the square were roughly 400 Skrull individuals, half of whom were high-ranking officials of the Lyrion Empire. These officials wore stern expressions, but occasionally, a hint of schadenfreude would flash across their faces.
The other half of the Skrulls were Renkter Alliance senators, senior administrators, and high-ranking military officers. They, too, maintained serious expressions, their eyes filled with anger, shame, and resentment.
Standing alongside Emperor Manina XIII was another figure, not a Skrull, but a War Inspector from the Singer civilization—Link.
...
At noon, Link cleared his throat and said, "The time has come."
As the entire square turned to look at him, Link snapped his fingers, and a blue rune, somewhat resembling a sapphire, appeared in his hand.
"Emperor Manina XIII," Link said, handing the blue rune to the Lyrion emperor, "from this moment on, command of the Skrull Expeditionary Force is transferred from the Renkter Alliance to you. Additionally, all control runes for the spatial rifts are also transferred to you. I hope you will carry on the legacy of the Renkter Parliament and fulfill its unfinished mission."
"Thank you, Supreme Inspector!" Manina XIII knelt on one knee before Link, respectfully accepting the rune.
"Long live the emperor!"
"Long live the emperor!"
The square erupted in thunderous applause, with the Lyrion officials shouting their praises at the top of their lungs.
The officials of the Renkter Alliance, though their faces were grim, forced themselves to smile and clap, offering a show of celebration for the Lyrion emperor.
This scene was quickly broadcast across the Skrull homeworld, reaching millions of households and billions of Skrulls, all of whom witnessed this historic moment.
After accepting the blue rune, Manina XIII stood up and raised his hands to the camera, ready to deliver his speech:
"My fellow citizens of the Lyrion Empire, my brothers and sisters around the world, today is a great day to celebrate!"
"Under the witness of the Supreme Inspector, the Lyrion Empire has been granted command of the Expeditionary Force. I will lead you all to victory!"
The crowd below broke into another round of thunderous applause.
Manina XIII raised his hands to quiet the audience.
Once the square had settled, he continued in a clear voice:
"I know that the Lyrion Empire and the Renkter Alliance have had some ideological differences. For instance, you may see me as a dictator, and my people as living without freedom; we, on the other hand, find your 'political correctness' to be hypocritical and nonsensical."
"But now, none of that matters."
Manina XIII pointed to the ruins of the Parliament to the north, and the camera followed his gesture, focusing on the charred walls.
