Chapter 422: Token of Affection
Chapter 422: Token of Affection
Lindsey looked at the man before him and then at his own mission panel.
"What's your name?" he asked.
The man was a little confused but answered immediately, "Anthony, my name is Anthony Reja."
"..."
Lindsey sighed inwardly.
Now, there was no possibility of mistaking his identity.
The appearance of the mission indicated a change in the situation, and Lindsey dared not hesitate. He took the man and headed towards the ship.
Anthony was still a little perplexed, "Mr. Lindsey, aren't you going to continue rescuing people?"
Lindsey shook his head, "No time, we're running out of time."
"As for the others... let them stay on the island. As long as they don't go out on their own, the adorable mermaids will take care of them."
"..."
Upon reaching the beach, Lindsey called out to Wah Wah Wah and Alarson.
The three of them already had some unspoken understanding, and as Lindsey spoke, the other two responded.
With the last group of survivors, they all returned to the ship.
At this moment, a large group of Awakened gathered on the deck, while the captain stood on the bridge, reorganizing the order on the ship, "Newcomers, the fish ship currently has no power, we need someone to drive it."
"Is there anyone who can provide such help?"
"Once we reach Thousand Sails City, the Navigators Guild will reward you handsomely!"
"..."
The captain struggled to maintain order, but the deck was still in an uproar.
Even though he had explained the current situation to everyone, some things were simply impossible.
Although there were one or two Awakened individuals who could propel the ship with their own strength, once they entered the storm-covered sea area, it would be impossible to maintain the ship's normal operation.
"Tsk..."
"What else can we do..."
Lindsey, as usual, began rummaging through his bag.
The current situation—
Unless Lindsey activated the Ocean Current Emblem and relied on his exceptional underwater mobility to escape alone, he had absolutely no way to move the ship.
Wah Wah Wah, standing beside him, bit her lip, "This is a dire situation."
Alarson proposed a possibility, "Perhaps we can find a way to contact Thousand Sails City?"
"If the big shots there turn their attention to this island, even if the fallen artist on the island wants to do something, they wouldn't dare to go too far."
Alarson's plan did have some feasibility.
However, Lindsey scanned the deck with his eyes.
Unfortunately, there was no messenger on board.
Starhorn City, as the world's main city, had a direct teleportation channel to Thousand Sails City. Even ordinary messengers on duty wouldn't need to travel this way.
"Mr. Lindsey?"
At this moment, a weak voice sounded behind Lindsey.
He turned around and was surprised to see Anthony.
"I... I might have a way to get us out of here!"
Alarson immediately questioned, "Aren't you just an ordinary person?"
Anthony's courage was sparked by his pursuit of love, and he didn't fear Alarson's Awakened status, directly refuting him, "The token of affection Nana gave me can summon a sea beast."
As he spoke, he took out a small bone flute from his shirt pocket, "She said that at the most critical moment, this thing could save my life."
[Bone Flute of the Red Sea Leviathan]
[After being blown in the sea, it will summon a nearby Red Sea Leviathan to serve you. It will shatter completely after three uses.]
[Only those with the right affinity can use it. It is moderately priced.]
"It's a bone flute from the House of Kuwait!"
Wah Wah Wah recognized the origin of the flute at a glance, and Lindsey identified its effect.
The unexpected surprise unfolded before them.
During their time on the fish boat, Lindsey had learned of Anthony's romance with a noble lady from the City of Thousand Sails.
But who could have anticipated this?
Their token of affection, at this very moment, became the key to saving everyone! Lindsey grabbed Anthony and headed towards the edge of the ship's starboard side, shouting to the worried captain on the bridge:
"Captain, adjust the ship's operations!"
"We should be able to summon a Red Sea Leviathan to tow the ship and escape the storm!"
Hearing Lindsey's shout, the captain's spirits lifted.
He called out to the chaotic crowd, directing passengers to return to the cabins below deck, while he and the sailors went to the bow to secure the towing ropes.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the ship, Lindsey and Anthony jumped into the sea.
Plop!
Two distinct splashes sounded almost simultaneously from both sides of the vessel.
Lindsey's dive was to summon the Leviathan with Anthony's help.
On the other side, someone else had also jumped directly into the water.
"No, I don't want to leave!"
"Mermaids are mermaids, and we'll just stay for two months!"
"Dear, only you will love me, and I won't leave you!"
"Fine, have a baby then!"
"..."
Lindsey's keen hearing picked up on the conversation, and his expression changed.
"How did I end up saving this?"
Anthony, beside him, misunderstood and thought Lindsey was referring to him.
"Mr. Lindsey, what did I do wrong?"
"I'm not talking about you," Lindsey replied impatiently. "Just focus on your task, don't worry about others."
Anthony nodded, then submerged his face in the water.
He blew into the bone flute given by his lover, a strange power within it.
The flute's sound, usually difficult underwater, resonated with a peculiar force.
As Anthony blew, the flute's sound didn't surface but instead, a muffled, eerie noise spread through the water.
"..."
Suddenly, Anthony's heart tightened.
He sensed something watching him, approaching! He lifted his head from the water.
"Mr. Lindsey, I've succeeded! A sea beast is coming this way!"
"Then let's return to the deck."
Lindsey nodded, leading Anthony back to the deck.
"When the Red Sea Leviathan arrives, you won't need to command it directly," he assured Anthony.
"Nana told me," Anthony replied.
"Such beasts are intelligent, capable of communication."
Lindsey sighed in relief.
He instructed Anthony to change into dry clothes and went to the bow to look below.
The captain and sailors worked swiftly.
They reopened the ropes at the bow, securing a new, sturdy towing rope that hung into the water.
The ship was ready for the Leviathan's arrival, and they would soon embark on their escape journey! Then, a song began.
Lindsey turned, the source was behind him.
"Dear, why do you leave me?"
"Do you remember the sunsets, the moonfall between the stars, in the Red Sea?"
"Between us, there's a secret..."
