Chapter 422: Fairy Tail's Special Edition
Chapter 422: Fairy Tail's Special Edition
Rod wasn't one prone to gossip, but since Mira had taken Lucy away to keep her quiet, he had no choice but to wait for Mira's return to ask the other girls in her presence.
When she frantically tried to stop him, he would casually bring up a harmless little condition.
What Mira had said to them wasn't important; what mattered was what they would do next.
In the following week, Lucy found herself alone again.
After Natsu's beating, he resumed his special training, and Gray had to take care of Juvia until the Harvest Festival.
Erza had recently suffered a setback and was feeling a bit down after learning about Gerald's arrest.
Her way of coping was to design new armor, and since the pajama party, she hadn't even been to the guild much.
Lucy had been pacing in front of the bulletin board in distress these past few days, but she still hadn't found the mission she desired. She was on the verge of becoming the second Nabu.
It wasn't her fault for being picky; with the Harvest Festival approaching, everyone was preparing for a 'short vacation'.
The more cost-effective missions had long been taken, and the new ones posted daily were quickly snatched up.
Lucy hesitated, and her slow decision-making cost her twice when she saw acceptable missions, but someone else took them before she could make up her mind.
She couldn't compete with others because she herself wasn't determined to take them.
"Ahhh... What about my rent...?" Lucy lamented, repeatedly bumping her forehead against the counter.
If there had been a bed here, she would probably have been rolling on the floor by now.
Mira had just collected another customer's glass, rinsed it in the sink, and then got Lucy a drink, asking, "Still haven't found a job you like?"
"Actually, there is, but I can't do it alone," Lucy admitted, now quite fond of those slaying missions to maintain order.
But the thought of going alone made her lack confidence.
"If only I could summon all the Celestial Spirits at once, like Mr. Rod, and become a one-man army," she sighed.
"Can't Celestial Spirit Magic summon multiple spirits?" Mira asked, "Lucy just needs to work a little harder."
"It's not that easy. Star Spirit Mages who can open two gates simultaneously are already rare."
Mira was puzzled, "Really? But Rod and I met a Star Spirit Mage who could open two gates at once."
"What?" Lucy straightened up in surprise and asked, "Really? What was that person like?"
"They wore a cloak and had their face covered, so we couldn't see clearly," Mira explained, "We only know it was a woman using Gemini of the Twins and Scorpio of the Scorpion."
Lucy was astonished, "She has two keys of the Zodiac Gate!"
Mira didn't understand her surprise, "Lucy has more, right? Aquarius, Taurus, Virgo, Cancer, Sagittarius, and Leo. Lucy has half of the Zodiac Gate."
"Y-You're right..." Lucy laughed awkwardly and said greedily, "If possible, I'd like to collect all twelve keys."
"So greedy~" Mira smiled and suggested, "But if you want to collect the keys, why not just ask Loki and the others where the other keys are?
You might even find out who that Star Spirit Mage is."
Lucy waved her hand, "It's not possible. The Spirit Realm is also subject to the Personal Information Protection Act, so Loki can't tell me such things."
"The magazine is out!"
"This issue features the Fairy Tail Special Edition!"
"Everyone who was interviewed is in it!"
Marcus rushed in, waving a magazine and shouting excitedly, like a newsboy on the street.
A few people nearby immediately gathered around him.
"Where is it? Where is it?"
"Wow, they used our guild's photo for the cover!"
"I was actually hoping for a cover featuring Mira."
"What are you talking about? Even if they wanted to use it now, it would probably be a photo of Mira and Rod together."
"We can just crop Rod out."
"Stop chattering and let me see which page I'm on!"
"Look at mine first!"
The group clamored, those who could squeeze in huddled around Marcus to look, while those who couldn't pushed and shoved to get a glimpse.
Some couldn't wait and dashed out to buy their own copies.
This magazine, featuring the entire group, was a memorable keepsake, and buying a copy for collection was a great idea.
"I also want to see if there's any coverage of me..." Lucy gazed at the crowd in the tavern and abandoned the idea of squeezing in, "Miss Mira, aren't you curious?"
"I'm fine."
The flawless version is available at 6x9xBookxBar! The first chapter of this novel is available on the 6x9 Book Bar.
"Oh, I forgot you're a regular at Gazelle's. It's not surprising to be featured in a magazine."
"No, I was actually looking forward to this one." Mira wanted to see if the photo of her and Rod from that day made it in,
"It's fine if we can't see it now. Rod went out to place an order, and he'll definitely bring a copy back."
"That's true!"
But Mira's guess was wrong; Rod returned with three copies of the magazine.
"This one is for our collection." A magazine disappeared from Rod's hand.
"This one is for someone else to borrow." The second magazine was thrust into Lucy's hands.
"And this one is for us." Rod quickly flipped to the most important page and looked at it with Mira in his arms.
After all, it was only 300J each, roughly the price of a drink, so buying a few extra copies wasn't a big deal.
"They really published this photo." Mira looked at the magazine with delight, and having this proposal moment recorded in a magazine was undoubtedly romantic.
The photo captured the moment Rod successfully proposed and lifted Mira into his arms.
Rod's hand rested on Mira's waist, and he tilted his head slightly, gazing into her eyes.
Mira's feet were off the ground, slightly tilted backward, her upper body leaning back, her hands on Rod's shoulders, and her head lowered as she looked at him.
Her face was slightly flushed, and a happy smile graced her lips. Rod's face also beamed with joy, his eyes filled with endless affection.
It had to be said that Jason, the top journalist, was truly skilled at capturing such moments.
But the credit didn't belong to Jason; Rod whispered in Mira's ear, "Look at my fiancee. Isn't she beautiful? Even a random snapshot turns out so perfectly."
Mira tilted her head to the side, trying to avoid his breath in her ear, as he often liked to tease her this way.
She pointed at Rod in the photo, "Look at my fiance..." She paused, then continued, "Doesn't my fiance look a bit silly smiling like that?"
"Where does he look silly? He's so handsome."
"He does look silly."
"What did you say?" Rod placed his hand on her waist, threatening to tickle her.
Mira remained firm, "He does look silly!"
But she loved him, deeply and truly.
