Chapter 421: Returning to the City
Chapter 421: Returning to the City
The storm raged on, and the nearby weather had never been pleasant, remaining perpetually gloomy.
On the deck of the Black Ship, Pedro, Sicilian, and the rest of the Fur Tribe stood in the pouring rain, eagerly gazing at the raging storm clouds, each holding a telescope in their hands.
"Chief, do you really think the rain will stop?" asked Blackback, the gorilla, his face filled with uncertainty.
Rodi, the water buffalo from the Fur Tribe, standing beside him, wore a similar expression.
Pedro wasn't sure either. He hesitated for a moment before responding, "It should, I guess. After all, Lady Lily said that the lightning is gone, and we're almost at Orlara. When we reach our headquarters, there won't be any more lightning."
During their journey to Orlara, these members of the Fur Tribe had high expectations. On the ship, they indulged in daily feasts in the luxurious grand hall, enjoying things they had never experienced before.
Even the meat of the Sea Kings was prepared in various delicious ways, tasting far better than anything the Fur Tribe could cook.
Of course, these were just matters of quality. What truly excited the Fur Tribe was the azure sea, the wondrous phenomena, and the thrilling adventures that stirred their blood—all of which were absent, save for the raging storm, lightning, and thunder.
They could only peer through the pitiful windows at the faintly visible whirlpools in the rain.
The azure sea they longed for was nowhere to be found, replaced by gloomy winds and rain.
However, after spending so many days together, the Fur Tribe was infected by the enthusiasm of the Disaster Pirate Fleet. They felt that following such people wasn't bad, and any initial resistance had long since vanished. Pedro, who had sailed the seas before, accepted this change quickly and had already switched his allegiance.
If Bokumus could do it, so could Pedro.
Moreover, he even held hopes of regaining his lost lifespan.
After all, they were the Four Emperors; their words carried weight and were not spoken lightly.
As for now, they were waiting for the rain to stop so they could be the first to witness the azure sea, the wondrous islands, and the most prosperous city, as described by others.
Pedro had set sail many years ago. As a child, he remembered wanting to follow Roger but was refused.
Now, he followed a Pirate Emperor, albeit by force. But at this very moment, didn't this also fulfill his childhood dream of following a great pirate?
He was the first to change his mind.
Even the members of the Samurai Guild he led began to follow his lead, gradually adopting his new allegiance, which then influenced Sicilian's Musketeers and more of the Fur Tribe.
"It's stopping! It's stopping!"
With Sicilian's shout, it was clear that the massive storm had lost its fury, and the falling rain gradually lessened. The whirlpools around the Doom Star began to calm, transforming into mere waves.
These waves slowly subsided, diminishing along with the rain, until they eventually disappeared.
The dark clouds parted, revealing a clear sky and the undulating azure sea, leaving the Fur Tribe members on the deck awe-struck.
The view from Zouwu was different, as it was at a much higher altitude, but being in the midst of the azure sea was a different experience altogether. Most of the Fur Tribe had only felt it as an illusion, but now, being physically present in the azure sea, witnessing the waves up close, their senses were completely overwhelmed.
"Oh! I see it!"
Sicilian raised his telescope, gazing at the island gradually appearing in the distance, his eyes widening in surprise.
As they approached the island, they noticed an unusually massive city located near a narrow strait in the sea route.
There were no walls, and dwellings were scattered everywhere, with crowds of people visible amidst the structures.
From their distance, the buildings appeared normal, but they could see people beneath them, an overwhelming number of people.
"Is it possible for us to live here in the future?" Pedro asked with uncertainty.
Although the rumor about the Fur Tribe's animosity towards humans was just a rumor, they had always been isolated, preventing outsiders from entering their forest. Even when they showed friendliness, it was because the Fur Tribe had a large population, while the number of humans who ventured into Zouwu was minimal. This sense of security in numbers allowed them to feel fearless.
However, living in a place with a large human population was a different matter.
"No problem," Akin assured them.
Just then, Akin emerged with many of his crew, who spontaneously began furling sails and pulling ropes to prepare for docking. Akin took a couple of steps forward, approaching the Fur Tribe, and said, "Lord Sag's words are absolute. You need not worry about people disobeying his orders. Moreover, races like yours are also present here. Aside from the Fishman Tribe, who have yet to pledge allegiance, almost all common races of the Open Sea can be found here."
There was a giant among them, though only one.
There were many little people, as well as Longarm, Longleg, and Serpenthead Tribes. Even Sky Islanders were present.
Moriah's Ghost Tribe could also be considered one of them.
It wasn't a gathering of all races, but the basic model was there.
"Lord Sag doesn't mind other races coming here; in his eyes, we're all the same. Look at those immigrant ships; they must have heard our legends from somewhere and brought their entire families. Lord Sag never discriminates; anyone who comes can find a home and work."
Population had always been an issue, and Lord Sag was even considering involving Urci to bring down some Sky Islanders, as Renetia wanted gold.
Some of those guys also yearned for land.
As for giants, they were a rare sight. Those stubborn giants were the most powerful race, and while being a pirate was one thing, changing their place of residence was another matter.
The Doom Star quickly docked in a designated spot at the port, and a space was voluntarily cleared around it for Lord Sag and the others to disembark.
Hawkins, who was in charge of standing guard, was already waiting at the port.
"Welcome back," Hawkins greeted as Lord Sag disembarked. "I have something to report. Your blood relative, Nico Robin, has been waiting for quite some time."
