Chapter 421: Jerry's Portal (Second Update)
Chapter 421: Jerry's Portal (Second Update)
"Misunderstanding, misunderstanding, we have no intention of conflicting with the great Kree Empire. We'll change course right away!"
Yondu wore a smiling face as he looked at the virtual image of the Kree.
After the virtual image ended, he quickly turned to Jerry:
"According to the radar, the other side has a heavy patrol ship and over three hundred small combat vessels. Their overall strength is stronger than ours, and it's likely we won't be able to win.
Of course, if Mr. Carmen needs it, we can fight, but it will cost extra!"
"Since you say we can't win, wouldn't going there just be suicide?"
Jerry responded, somewhat surprised.
Yondu patted his chest:
"Although their overall strength is greater and their warships and vessels are more advanced, we raiders excel at ambushes. As long as Mr. Carmen pays us enough, the raiders aren't afraid to die."
In reality, Yondu had two points he didn't mention.
First, once the fight starts, Jerry will definitely help. If Jerry releases that powerful Asgardian Ship, their chances of winning will significantly increase.
Second, he understands the Kree Empire and these Kree fleets. In situations like this, the Kree fleet generally won't engage in a direct battle.
The planet isn't going anywhere, and as long as they destroy half of the Kree fleet, the Kree will retreat to wait for reinforcements before attempting to retake the planet.
So, as long as they act quickly and drive back the Kree fleet, they can complete their mission and retreat before reinforcements arrive.
"Aren't you afraid of offending the Kree Empire and being wanted?"
Jerry knew that the Kree Empire was much stronger than the Nova Empire. If they were wanted, they would face pursuit by the Kree fleet for a long time.
Yondu laughed heartily in response:
"I have a bounty on my head in twelve Kree regions; one more won't make a difference!"
He was sold by his parents to the Kree as a slave and spent twenty years in servitude before being rescued. Since forming his own raider team, he has not hesitated to rob Kree ships.
His subordinates follow him because, as the shock-faced one said, he is ruthless and daring. He dares to rob Kree ships and can bring them wealth.
So, as long as Jerry is willing to pay, they will do anything.
Jerry looked at Yondu with some surprise. Although these raiders weren't particularly strong in his eyes, they were indeed fearless, ready to risk their lives for money.
Even the shock-faced one, who initially dared to challenge him despite knowing his unusual strength, now understands that angering him means more than just death—it means a fate worse than death.
"Never mind, there's no need for that. Head to the jump point!"
Jerry declined Yondu's suggestion with a smile and a shake of his head.
It wasn't that he was stingy; he had over 114 billion units of currency. He wasn't afraid of the Kree Empire's fleet either. He could handle the Kree fleet alone without the raiders' help.
However, his primary goal here was to find suitable residents for Mini World, not to engage in a public battle with the Kree Empire. There was no need for that at the moment.
"You're the employer, you decide!"
Hearing Jerry's response, Yondu was somewhat surprised but didn't say more. He ordered the pilot to immediately turn around and return to the previous jump point.
For him, turning back to Contraxia to gather information would still net him fifty million credits, and there would be no risk involved. Of course, that was a good option.
However, based on the time they had spent together, he thought Jerry would be more inclined to take the offensive.
After the ship turned around, Jerry turned to look at Gamora beside him:
"Gamora, do you think the original inhabitants are still around after the Kree took over this planet?"
"Under normal circumstances, after killing all the resisting inhabitants, the Kree would transport the remaining inhabitants to their homeworld, Hala.
They would first brainwash them and then teach them how to operate various machines. Finally, they would be dispersed as slaves across the Kree-occupied planets.
Unless the Kree just took over and haven't had the time to do these things yet."
Gamora thought for a moment before replying.
"Why are we turning back?"
At that moment, Rocket, Groot, and Drax entered the cockpit.
Star-Lord briefly recounted what had just happened.
"I think it's a bit of a waste to just leave. Maybe the original inhabitants haven't been transported yet!"
Rocket sighed regretfully.
In reality, he had just upgraded his shock gun with many new features and was eager to test its power.
"Indeed, it would be better to confirm!"
Jerry stroked his chin.
Drax immediately drew two freshly sharpened daggers:
"Then let's turn the ship around and go after those Kree!"
Drax harbored deep hatred for Ronan and the Kree because Ronan had led the Kree army to destroy his planet, killing his wife and son. Since his escape, he hadn't even caught a glimpse of Ronan, and the frustration was building up. Killing some Kree would be a good outlet.
"No need to turn the ship around. When I said 'confirm,' I meant I'll go alone to check. The ship will continue to the Spatial Jump Point and wait for me."
Jerry waved his hand.
But as soon as he finished speaking, everyone, including Yondu, vehemently opposed him:
"No way, that's too dangerous!"
They assumed Jerry planned to fly his Asgardian Ship alone to secretly investigate the planet.
Jerry's Magic was powerful, and his ship was advanced, but facing Kree cruisers and ships alone was far too risky.
He was their biggest client, representing a total of five billion one hundred million credits. If he died, all their hard work would be for nothing.
"Don't get worked up. It's not what you think. I'll open a portal to the planet to check things out. I won't engage the Kree."
Jerry raised his hand to calm everyone down.
"A portal?"
The group fell silent, but their eyes still held doubt.
Jerry moved to a relatively empty spot in the cockpit, estimated the distance, and drew a fiery circle leading to the red planet.
"This is a portal. You can think of it as a simplified Spatial Jump Point. By passing through the portal, we can bypass the Kree warships and reach the red planet directly."
With that, Jerry stepped through the fiery circle and appeared on the red grass on the other side.
"Alright, just keep the ship near the Spatial Jump Point and wait for me. I'll open a portal back to the cockpit once I'm done!"
