Chapter 420: That's It?
Chapter 420: That's It?
"This is—"
Russell stood on the other side, staring at the overwhelming iron curtain. Though his helmet obscured his expression, his stunned posture was unmistakable.
That thing was just too absurd.
No wonder the bounty was nearing 300 million.
"I heard the ‘Golden Admiral’ possesses treasures rivaling an entire nation’s wealth. So this is it—this is what they meant by ‘treasure’", Russell muttered.
"Knight Captain, what should we do now?" A knight approached, asking.
"Retreat. We’re no match for the Navy’s glory. A shame—this was supposed to resolve our conflict..."
Russell waved his hand dismissively but suddenly turned toward the gutted, motionless Bellamy lying nearby. "That man isn’t dead yet. There’s still a chance."
"Hahahaha! Are you too scared to move? That’s right—this is the Admiral’s power! No matter how fast you are, you can’t dodge an attack this wide!"
Roberts wore a smug grin.
"Hmm, I’ll agree with you on that. Absolutely right."
Kuro nodded at him.
Aoe counters micro-control—a universal truth.
"Poison Snake."
Kuro thrust his hand forward. Roots erupted from the earth, forming a towering, undulating wall that surged toward the iron curtain like a tidal wave.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!
Scattered weapons slammed into the wall, instantly punching holes through it. But before the weapons could fully breach, the gaps sealed shut, trapping the weapons inside.
"How long do you think you can block the Admiral?"
Unfazed, Roberts intensified his assault. A torrent of weapons erupted from his body, bombarding the wall.
"Ho!"
Seeing more weapons fly through the gaps, Kuro’s eyes gleamed with excitement. "You’ve still got this many left?"
While he had an island and often looted Navy weapons, who could ever have too much stock?
He slightly slowed the wall’s contraction, letting the weapons strike with more dramatic impact.
"They told you you couldn’t block me!"
Roberts’ smugness grew. "The Admiral’s arsenal could equip an entire nation! How long can your flimsy wall last?"
With that, he unleashed even more fury.
The weapons battered the wall, thinning it with every strike. As the wall grew thinner, Kuro’s expression darkened, as if panicking.
"Now!"
Russell seized the moment, slapping his mount’s rump. The donkey brayed and shot forward at blinding speed, charging toward Kuro.
"Hmph? Blocking my path to fortune?"
Kuro instinctively gripped Autumn Water, but quickly relaxed.
The knight in tattered armor merely reached his side, snatched up Bellamy, and vanished in a flash.
"Still breathing? Amazing…"
Kuro glanced at Bellamy, whose life hung in the balance. A quick scan confirmed it—Bellamy still clung to life, barely.
His slash had been as ruthless as those against other Super Novas, holding nothing back.
Bellamy survived because the blade missed his head, and his willpower was surprisingly strong.
"Forget it. Let him escape."
This was Kuro’s first encounter with Bellamy. Compared to the original Bellamy from his memories, this one seemed far more resilient.
As for the knight in tattered armor, he was likely a Dream Faction member. Kuro didn’t care about killing or sparing such people—so long as they didn’t trouble him.
Especially now, during a critical moment. If he killed someone, he might expose his stockpile. And if that idiot on the rooftop spilled the beans about his stash, he’d lose everything.
A nation’s worth of weapons!
Thinking of that, Kuro eased his grip slightly.
The weapons struck again, piercing the wall further, making it seem like the barrier was gradually crumbling.
Roberts’ lips curled into a grin. "Let me show you what true strength looks like!"
Chaos surged within him, unleashing even more weapons at greater speed. The iron curtain stretched from his body to the wall, a mass of black threads relentlessly battering the defense.
"Unforgivable! You pest!"
Kuro gritted his teeth. "Is this truly so terrifying?!"
"Come, feel despair!"
Roberts watched the wall thinning, spreading his arms wider. Black threads snapped from his body as all the weapons surged toward the wall.
He didn’t notice the wall’s range expanding as it thinned.
How else could it contain so many weapons?
Dok Dok Dok!
As the bombardment roared, Roberts froze mid-gesture, staring at the unbroken wall.
The wall was tattered, riddled with holes. It should’ve shattered with a single push.
Then Lucius Kro would be buried under this iron curtain of weapons, adding a glorious notch to his record.
He’d never killed someone so famous before.
True, he rejected Lucius, but defeating a pirate like this Navy officer would elevate his reputation.
Before breaking into the New World, boosting his reputation wasn’t bad.
One Piece deserved the title of Golden Admiral.
At least, that’s what he thought.
Reality was harsher.
"Why won’t it break?!" Roberts’ face darkened.
"That’s it?"
Kuro peeked from the wall’s edge, eyeing the densely packed weapons now obscuring its surface. He turned to Roberts. "Come on, Admiral. My wall’s about to collapse. Show me your last trick!"
"You’re mocking me?!"
Roberts narrowed his eyes, realization dawning. "Navy, you’ve just stepped closer to your grave."
Kuro raised his palm. The wall, laden with weapons, soared into the Sky, vanishing under Roberts’ murderous glare.
"Fine. The quantity’s not bad. Thanks for the donation."
Whoosh!
As he spoke, his body vanished, leaving a wisp of Black Radiance before Roberts.
Kuro reappeared instantly, slashing downward. "I’ll make it painless."
The Blade flashed before Roberts’ eyes, grazing his neck.
Grazing.
His body dissolved like an illusion.
Roberts’ lips curled. "Stored."
Hiss!
A wisp of black light erupted from his body. Kuro’s pupils constricted. The blade twisted mid-air, halting vertically before him.
Clang!
The black light and Black Blade collided, ringing sharply. Kuro staggered back, then leapt high, hovering as he studied Roberts with a meaningful hum.
"Oh? So you can store Slashes, Objects, and even elements? Nothing is beyond the Admiral’s grasp."
Roberts sneered at Kuro. "Navy, you cannot defeat the Admiral. Every attack you throw, I’ll return it tenfold."
