Chapter 42: Profit Summary
Chapter 42: Profit Summary
Time passed, and as more and more alien races entered the bazaar, the goods that Song Chi had purchased with over two thousand strands of zero-grade floating land essence were quickly sold out.
He sold a basic gene optimization serum, which cost one strand of zero-grade floating land essence, for five strands. For twenty tungsten alloy spears and shields, which also cost one strand, he only sold five for the same price. A basic civilian exoskeleton, which cost 200,000 credits (or 20 strands of zero-grade floating land essence), he sold for 100 strands.
With these prices, which were often several times higher than the cost, Song Chi's funds quickly surpassed 8,000 strands of zero-grade floating land essence, bringing him substantial profits.
What made him even more pleased was that among the goods worth over 8,000 strands, there were more than 100 strands of first-grade floating land essence. Combined with the 32 strands he already had, it was enough for him to further enhance the "Dark Matter Energy Shield Generator" components several times.
And this wasn't the end. The free market area continued to see ongoing transactions, and he could collect a small transaction tax every minute.
Song Chi estimated that by the time this trading session ended, his funds would exceed 10,000 strands of zero-grade floating land essence.
Additionally, he continued to acquire goods with huge price differences, which he would later sell on the black market for a small profit.
The only regret was that, despite his constant vigilance over the various stalls in the market, he hadn't found any more star sea curios.
He didn't dwell on this too much, though. After all, the current bazaar level was only LV9, and only zero-grade star sea aliens could enter through the spatial gates. The chances of zero-grade beings obtaining star sea curios were already very slim. Understanding this, he stopped actively seeking curios, knowing that the chances would increase as the bazaar's level improved.
Several hours later, just half an hour before the bazaar trading session was set to end, Song Chi decided to set up his own stall, placing over two thousand strands of zero-grade floating land essence on display.
His bold move quickly drew the attention of many aliens, and within minutes, over a hundred gathered around his stall.
As the crowd of alien beings wondered what Song Chi intended to trade with these strands of zero-grade floating land essence, a sign he held up, written in the universal star sea language, caused a stir.
"Exchange first-grade floating land essence: 11 strands of zero-grade floating land essence for 1 strand of first-grade floating land essence."
Upon learning his intention, most of the gathered aliens dispersed.
First-grade floating land essence was far rarer than zero-grade, and most of the aliens present didn't have any to spare, let alone exchange.
Song Chi wasn't surprised. Instead, he felt a hint of joy when he saw that dozens of aliens had remained.
While the official exchange rate in the bazaar was 1:10, his offer of 1:11 was slightly less favorable. However, compared to the 1:14 or 1:15 rates in the Dawn Star Kingdom, his offer was still acceptable. As long as there were aliens willing to trade, he wouldn't lose.
Soon, an unknown alien approached to inquire.
"1:11 is still a bit low. If you could offer 12 strands of zero-grade for 1 strand of first-grade, I could exchange 10 strands with you."
Song Chi firmly shook his head.
At 1:12, he wouldn't lose much, but he had to make a profit from his efforts. Was he supposed to work for free?
The price of First-Tier Floating Land Essence in the black market is anything but stable. While the average trading ratio is 1:14, who can guarantee that it won't drop to 1:12 when he tries to sell?
Seeing his firm stance, more aliens chose to leave. In the end, only about twenty remained at his stall, but Song Chi was already quite satisfied. With nearly twenty aliens in front of him, he was confident that at least one would make a deal.
After all, this was just a spontaneous attempt, and he didn't need to invest anything. Even if no one traded with him, it wouldn't be a big deal.
The final outcome was much better than Song Chi had expected. Out of the eighteen aliens, twelve successfully traded with him, and one even traded 100 strands at once.
When the trading session officially ended, Song Chi had accumulated more than 11,000 strands of Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence, including 302 strands of First-Tier Floating Land Essence.
The remaining resources, excluding six Deepwater Clam Pearls, a Mermaid's Tear, Mercury Crystals, Refined Gold, and Life Nuclei, which he needed for future enhancements, had a total value of over 5,000 strands of Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence.
Song Chi planned to keep around 2,000 strands of Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence. Given the current number of spatial gates in the All-Heaven Marketplace, the number of aliens that could enter for each trading session was limited. Keeping 2,000 strands for restocking was sufficient; any more would be unnecessary, as the market size was fixed, and excess inventory would likely go unsold.
As for the other 3,000 strands of Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence, he intended to use them all to reinforce the Sky Vessel.
Over the next two days, Song Chi made several trips to the black market, exchanging the batch of resources worth over 3,000 strands of Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence for Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence, Mercury Crystals, Refined Gold, and other resources needed to reinforce his flying ship. Then, he retreated into the All-Heaven Marketplace.
In the All-Heaven Marketplace's Free Stall Area, the Sky Vessel had already been summoned. After two days of preparation, Song Chi didn't hesitate and immediately began the next round of reinforcements.
The first component to be reinforced was the Sky Vessel's highest-quality [Dark Matter Energy Shield Generator]. This orange-hued energy shield had performed exceptionally well in the battle against the peak First-Tier Gold Devouring Vine, which further solidified Song Chi's decision to continue reinforcing it.
The [Dark Matter Energy Shield Generator] was currently at Level 10. To reinforce it further, he needed 20 strands of First-Tier Floating Land Essence, 20 tons of Mercury Crystals, and 5,000 units of Dark Energy.
The First-Tier Floating Land Essence and Mercury Crystals were already prepared, but the Dark Energy was the real challenge.
The standard Dark Energy Engine on the Sky Vessel had been reinforced to Level 14, but its Dark Energy Pool capacity was only 5,000 units. Reinforcing the Dark Matter Energy Shield Generator to Level 11 was feasible, but further reinforcement would be impossible due to the limited Dark Energy.
Reluctantly, Song Chi had to spend additional resources to reinforce the Dark Energy Engine to Level 19.
Fortunately, the Dark Energy Engine was a standard colorless component, and reinforcing it to the first tier only required Zero-Tier Floating Land Essence and Zero-Tier Life Nuclei.
Dark Energy Engine Level 19
Quality: Colorless
Consumption: 10 units/s (Dark Energy)
Supply: 118 units/s (Dark Energy)
Overload Buffer: 20 minutes
Dark Energy Pool: 9,000 units (can store 9,000 units of Dark Energy)
Upgrade Requirement: Reached the maximum reinforcement level; cannot be further reinforced.
