Chapter 42: A New Member of the Ranch +1+1+1
Chapter 42: A New Member of the Ranch +1+1+1
With Golurk in position, the recognition battle officially began.
The Riding Lamb let out a bleat, its eyes stern as it lowered its body slightly. Two vine-like tendrils, thin and whip-like, shot out from its body.
"Graaaah?"
Remembering Naoki's words, Golurk symbolically extended its dragon claw.
One of the vines snaked around its wrist.
Then, the Riding Lamb's body lunged forward.
"Baa!"
The vine wrapped around Golurk tightened.
This was the Riding Lamb's signature move; it would entangle its opponents with its vine whips and then lift them into the air to slam them down.
The Riding Lamb exerted force from every part of its body, attempting to lift Golurk into the air with its vine whips.
However, the expected scene did not unfold.
Golurk remained still, only looking slightly puzzled as it gazed at the vine on its wrist.
"Meeeh?"
The Riding Lamb was startled.
The next second, Golurk clenched its fist, giving the vine a gentle tug, and the Riding Lamb's body was pulled closer.
Riding Lamb: =()
!
"Golurk is so strong!" Yoshikage exclaimed, his eyes wide.
Naoki: "..."
He remained silent, continuing to watch the battle unfold.
Due to Golurk's immense strength, the vine snapped halfway through the tug-of-war.
The Riding Lamb managed to skid to a halt, looking a little disheveled as it stood up.
This Riding Lamb had excellent physical qualities and decision-making skills. As it stabilized its body, it once again launched a Leaf Blade attack at Golurk.
At the same time, Golurk also sprang into action. It leaped forward, its right claw raised high. The energy in its hand surged, transforming into massive dragon claws that clashed with the Leaf Blades filling the sky, rushing towards the Riding Lamb.
The Leaf Blades seemed to barely affect Golurk as they landed lightly on its body, causing minimal damage.
Just as Golurk was about to make contact with the Riding Lamb, it glanced at its dragon claw and suddenly felt that this move might be too powerful.
The surging energy receded, and the huge white dragon claw instantly shrank, gently tapping the Riding Lamb's body.
"Baaaa!"
However, Golurk still misjudged its own strength.
With a swift claw swipe, the Riding Lamb was sent flying, landing on the grass behind it.
Golurk: !!!
It quickly turned to look at Naoki, its eyes filled with guilt, as if saying it hadn't meant to do that.
Naoki: "..."
"Alright, that's enough!" Naoki spoke up at the right moment.
He and Yoshikage ran over to the Riding Lamb, carefully examined it, and found that it had only been knocked unconscious, prompting a sigh of relief.
"Graaaah?"
Golurk approached, inquiring about the Riding Lamb's condition.
Seeing its worried expression, Naoki reassured it, "It's alright, it's just unconscious."
"Don't worry!" Yoshikage added, "Every Pokemon is prepared for injuries when they engage in battles. Naoki, it's time for you to capture it!"
Naoki nodded and took out an empty Poke Ball from his pocket, gently touching the Riding Lamb's forehead with it.
The next second, the Riding Lamb's body transformed into a beam of red light and was drawn into the Poke Ball.
After the capture was successful, Naoki opened the Poke Ball again to release the injured Riding Lamb.
Stimulated by the capture process, the Riding Lamb had regained consciousness.
The way it looked at Naoki had also changed, becoming much more docile.
"Please take care of me from now on!"
Naoki smiled and patted the Riding Lamb's head affectionately before reaching into his bag and taking out a Revive tree fruit to feed to it.
Seeing food, the other two Riding Lambs also trotted over, looking a little silly.
Naoki couldn't help but laugh and took out two more tree fruits from his bag to feed them.
After they finished eating, he took out two more Poke Balls and easily captured them without any struggle or resistance. The Poke Balls only shook slightly before falling still.
Watching this, Naoki couldn't shake the feeling that the reason the Poke Balls shook was because the Pokemon inside were rolling over, comfortable in their new homes.
"It's your turn now!"
Naoki returned the last Riding Lamb to its Poke Ball and stood up, gazing at the shimmering lake before him.
By now, evening had arrived, and the lake's surface was bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, creating a beautiful sight.
As a gentle breeze blew, Yoshikage took a deep breath, relishing the refreshing feeling, before asking, "Are there any other Pokemon you wish to capture?"
"Tropius," Naoki replied thoughtfully, but then quickly added, "However, I think I may have captured too many too quickly."
With five Salts and three Riding Lambs, that made a total of eight Pokemon.
The facilities back at the ranch were still a work in progress, and capturing so many at once would not only strain the ranch's capacity but also his abilities as a ranch owner.
After a moment's consideration, Naoki decided to first settle the Riding Lambs and Salts before thinking about other Pokemon.
With that in mind, he shook his head and said, "Never mind, I think I'll hold off for now."
"What's wrong?" Yoshikage asked, curious.
Naoki explained, "My ranch is still in its early days, and I don't have the capacity to care for too many Pokemon yet."
Understanding dawned on Yoshikage's face, and he smiled. "I see. Well, that means there won't be anyone to guide you the next time you come here!"
Naoki had been working tirelessly over the past few days with little rest, and he stretched his neck and wrists to relieve some of the tension. "Where are you headed next?" he asked.
"I'm thinking of going to the Kanto region," Yoshikage replied. "I've taken an interest in Pokemon like Aerodactyl. I heard that Kanto and Johto are known for their Aerodactyl culture, so I plan to explore that."
"Kanto, huh..." Naoki mused. "That's a pretty nice place too!"
"Yeah!" Yoshikage nodded. "It's getting late. You should head back to your ranch now, right?"
"Would you like to come to my ranch for a visit?" Naoki invited.
Yoshikage looked hesitant. "Not right now. There's still an area of Big Pot Lake that I haven't explored. I want to record the Pokemon there before I leave."
"Alright," Naoki smiled and nodded. "You're welcome anytime."
He waved goodbye to Yoshikage and turned to mount Golurk, beginning his journey back to the ranch.
"With the milk-producing Riding Lamb and the salt-producing Salts, the next step is to build their accommodations and ensure a stable food supply."
Naoki's mind was already planning the next phase as he rode.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
"I didn't capture any Pokemon that can use Rain Dance or Water Gun during this trip to Big Pot Lake!"
Naoki's thoughts turned to the Aerodactyl that had been gazing at the moon atop the cliff.
He decided to pay one last visit that evening.
If the Aerodactyl still chose to fly away upon seeing him, it meant it truly didn't want to be disturbed, and he would respect its wishes and leave it alone from then on.
