Chapter 418: Would You All Mind Committing Suicide Here?
Boom!
Bellamy launched himself forward with a thunderous boom as his legs struck the ground, rocketing toward the tall woman at blinding speed.
The tall woman snorted coldly. As Bellamy closed in, her arm flashed and a pistol appeared in her hand, aimed directly at his forehead.
Click.
Her finger tightened on the trigger with a faint metallic sound.
Bellamy’s pupils constricted. His body skidded to a halt mid-air, his calves coiling like springs as he launched himself backward into a high arc.
Boom!!
A bullet tore through the space he’d occupied moments ago, slamming into the ground and leaving a deep crater.
Bellamy rebounded off a massive tree behind him, landing in a crouch on a thick branch. Before he could catch his breath, another bullet streaked toward him like a shadow.
Clang!
Armored Haki surged across his arm as he instinctively raised it to block. A metallic whirring sound rang out as a streamlined bullet halted inches from his arm, spinning furiously before losing momentum and clattering to the ground.
"Armored Haki!"
Bellamy’s voice cracked with surprise.
The tall woman twirled her pistol, blowing away the smoke from the barrel. "Looks like you’ve got some tricks too, ‘Hyena.’ Not completely useless after all."
"Save the taunts!"
Bellamy’s legs compressed like coiled springs, sending shockwaves rippling through the earth.
He lifted his head with a feral grin. "‘Quick Draw’ Annie, let’s see if you can dodge this punch!"
"Try not to get shot while you’re at it."
Annie raised her pistol, aiming squarely at Bellamy. Her subordinates followed suit, their pistols forming a wall of steel.
"Stand down!"
A voice boomed from the distance just as Bellamy prepared to leap.
"Hmmph!"
A strange braying cry echoed as a figure galloped into view atop a mount. The creature swayed drunkenly, ears flapping, yet moved with surprising speed. Its grotesque grin revealed yellowed teeth as it let out an ear-splitting "Hee-haw! Hee-haw!"
Riding the donkey was a man clad in tattered armor, a dented notched longsword at his hip. His gaunt limbs protruded from the armor’s gaps. He reached down with a skeletal hand to pat the donkey’s head. "Enough, Pegasus."
"Hee-haw!"
The donkey brayed defiantly but quieted, tossing its head.
"‘Pegasus Knight’ Russell", Annie muttered. "Here to play peacekeeper?"
Russell nodded. "Shabondy’s no place for enemies. We’ll settle scores once we’re at sea."
Annie scoffed. "Think wearing rusted armor makes you a knight? Pirates do as they please!"
Half her crew swung their pistols toward Russell.
Russell’s hand gripped his sword’s hilt. "Even pirates have honor. This brawl dishonors us all."
Clang!
He yanked the corroded blade free, sending a shower of rust flakes cascading. The ground trembled as a cloud of dust rose behind him. A squadron of heavy cavalry emerged, their polished armor gleaming, warhorses snorting with barely contained power. They dwarfed Russell’s frail frame.
Russell raised his sword vertically before his chest. The cavalry mirrored him in unison.
"Thus, I must resort to military force", Russell declared, his voice rasping yet ironclad.
Bellamy froze, eyes narrowing at the sudden shift.
"Yohohoho! What a lively scene!"
A new voice cut through the tension. From the shadows emerged a grotesque figure—his limbs twisted like knotted ropes, his torso spiraling. Behind him trailed a dozen similarly deformed followers, their grins dripping madness.
Annie and Bellamy exchanged uneasy glances.
"Briguel", Annie spat, leveling her pistol at the twisted freak. "You too?!"
"Yohohoho!" The man’s tongue slithered from his crooked mouth, dripping viscous slime. "Blood! Carnage! The more twisted, the better!"
"Vortex Pirates?" Russell’s voice turned glacial. "Honor’s Renegades have no place in this world."
"Yesss!" Briguel’s spiraling fangs gleamed. "Spill blood! Let chaos reign!"
The ground beneath him writhed, forming a vortex that spread like a whirlpool. Trees and buildings twisted into the maelstrom, shredded into crimson confetti.
"Damn madman!" Annie backpedaled as her subordinates weren’t so lucky—those caught in the vortex spun helplessly, their screams drowned by the meat grinder’s roar.
"Yohohoho! More! More!" Briguel howled, the vortex swallowing everything.
"Strike him down! For Honor!" Russell’s rusted blade pointed forward. The cavalry surged.
"Enough."
A voice rumbled from above. On the auction house roof stood a bearded man in a golden hooded cloak, swigging from a wineskin. "You insects irritate me."
"Golden Admiral Bartholomew Roberts!" Annie’s eyes widened. "Still here?"
Roberts scoffed. "A gathering of Super Novas? Pity you’re all trash."
He turned his head slightly. "Two more remain. Does the Admiral rate so little?"
Whoosh!
A massive axe plummeted from the sky, embedding itself in the ground with a thunderous crash.
"Tch! Showing off?" Bellamy dropped from the trees, cracking his knuckles. "Typical."
Whoosh!
Another figure descended—a burly man bleeding profusely, teeth missing, gasping for breath.
"Yoh, everyone’s here!" A new voice rang from above.
Sunlight glinted off a silver-trimmed navy hooded cloak, the word "Justice" embroidered on its hem. The figure hovered midair, smiling down.
"Perfect. Saves me the hunt."
The navy officer lowered his head, revealing a face that sent Annie’s pistol trembling.
"Lucius Kro!" she hissed.
Bellamy’s eyes widened. "The one who defeated Lucius?!"
Russell tilted his head upward. "A navy?"
"Yohohoho! More blood!" Briguel cackled.
Roberts set down his wineskin, his calm expression darkening. "Daring to make me look up? Die."
"Did you kill Dix?" Annie growled. "You’re supposed to be in West Blue!"
"Ah, that." The figure above scratched his head—Kuro. "Met an axe-wielding fool on the way. I’ve always hated axes. Big or small." He grinned. "So I cleansed him."
He paused, his smile turning disarming. "Would you all mind doing me a favor?"
He gazed down, voice gentle as a breeze. "Perhaps... commit suicide here? Save me the trouble."
