Chapter 418: I Advise You to Be a Good Person
Chapter 418: I Advise You to Be a Good Person
"Damn those guys! They're such jerks!"
In the Slytherin common room, Flint, who had just finished venting his anger, plopped down on an armchair, feeling furious once again. He had been deceived by that group of guys, and they even had the nerve to say that it was all his fault. If they hadn't set him up in the first place, why would he be unwilling to pay them back?
"What are you going to do now?" Lucien asked, frowning as he watched Flint lose his temper.
This incident had indeed angered Lucien as well, but he hadn't lost his rationality because of it. Those guys were obviously more cunning than them, and they were clearly at a disadvantage. Moreover, their wands had been taken by the other party. Even if they wanted to take revenge, it would be difficult without their wands.
What's worse, Truman wasn't wrong. They were the ones who owed money and hadn't paid it back. Even if they wanted to find someone to help them, there probably wouldn't be many Slytherin students willing to get involved in this dispute. On the other hand, the number of students they owed money to was quite large, so they had no advantage at all.
"This time, we'll be the ones ambushing them," Flint said through gritted teeth.
"Ambush?"
Upon hearing Flint's words, the others were all stunned. It was still snowing outside the castle, and without their wands, how could they possibly ambush the other group and take revenge? Although Weasley had promised to return their wands, who knew when they would actually get them back.
"Don't forget, we don't have our wands right now. What exactly do you plan to do?" Walington finally spoke up, unable to bear seeing Flint's anger cloud his judgment.
"Calm down first. How are we supposed to ambush them without our wands?"
"If they don't send our wands back within an hour, we'll go and borrow some from others!" Flint took a deep breath and said.
He had made up his mind to get back at Truman for this humiliation. He couldn't just let this matter drop.
The others exchanged glances, and someone raised their hand to cover their face, "Don't forget, everyone else is in Hogsmeade."
At that moment, Flint froze. He hadn't thought about this problem before. He gritted his teeth and said, "Then we'll borrow from the first and second-year newcomers. They're still at Hogwarts."
"I don't think we need to make such a big deal out of this." Perkin Derrick clearly didn't agree with them. After all, they were truly at a disadvantage. If they continued to make a fuss, it would only bring trouble to themselves. Perkin hadn't forgotten the incidents from the previous year and the year before. The Slytherin students had suffered a big loss then, and the unlucky guy who had his head stuffed in the toilet still hadn't figured out who was behind it all.
"So, what do you plan to do?" Flint asked coldly, looking at Perkin Derrick with unfriendly eyes.
"Negotiate with them."
Perkin Derrick replied without hesitation, "Let's lower the amount of galleons we have to compensate them. Those guys have already taken quite a lot from us, and they often cause trouble for us. We'll lower the compensation to a normal rate and return the remaining galleons to them."
"Are you planning to admit defeat?" Flint's tone became even colder, and the others all stared at Perkin Derrick.
"No, I'm planning to break up their group," Perkin Derrick argued. "Those guys are only united because they want to collect the debt from us. Once they get their galleons, they'll naturally disperse, and we can deal with them individually instead of facing a united group." Perkin didn't want to get too involved in this dispute, and it was clear to everyone that Flint was about to lose his rationality due to his anger.
Making a big deal out of this situation would definitely not benefit them. Moreover, the other party had more people and were united, so confronting them head-on was clearly not a wise choice.
"Who else thinks this way?" Flint looked around at the group, and a few others stepped forward to show their support for Perkin Derrick.
"Fine, you guys don't have to participate in the next action," Flint said coldly. "You can go and negotiate with those guys if you want. The rest of us will handle this our way."
In the end, Flint didn't get his wand back. Perhaps Albert was cautious and didn't send the wands back immediately. So, Flint and his few partners had to go and borrow wands from other newcomers. Regardless of whether they were used to the borrowed wands or not, there were not many Slytherin newcomers willing to lend their wands to Flint.
Flint and his partners did manage to borrow some wands, and they even learned from Albert and built a snow house. However, this task was not very friendly to Flint, a student with average grades. They spent quite some time building the snow house, and by the time they crawled inside to warm up, they were already shivering from the cold.
Moreover, the snow house wasn't as warm as they had imagined. It was still cold inside, and since they hadn't hidden it properly, the snow house was quite conspicuous.
"We must hide it," Flint said. "Does anyone know the Disillusionment Charm?"
An awkward silence fell upon the group.
While they knew quite a few miscellaneous and questionable dark magic spells, the Disillusionment Charm was not something they could easily master without specifically learning it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a charm that Aurors had to learn.
"Now what?"
The group looked at each other, unable to come up with a better solution.
"Then forget about it!" Flint bit his teeth and said, "Our goal is to block them. This is the only way back to school, and I don't believe those guys can sneak back into the castle without us noticing."
However, Flint and his group waited for a long time in the snow house, shivering from the cold. Flint then heard rustling sounds from outside.
"Someone's here. This time, it must be them."
When Flint went out, he saw that his snow house was surrounded by a group of people.
"Oh, what are you guys planning to do? Ambush us?" Truman's mocking voice rang in Flint's ears. "You actually got your hands on some wands. So, you really were planning to ambush us!"
When Albert had informed him about this through the communication bookmark, he was a little surprised, but he never expected it to be true.
What were they planning to do?
As he looked at the group shivering from the cold, he almost couldn't hold back his laughter. However, Fred and the others laughed out loud without any restraint, and the rest joined in.
"I must say, you guys are quite the comedians."
Flint's cheeks turned red, and he felt like smoke was about to come out of his head. If he wasn't being pointed at by a bunch of wands, he would have punched the guy in the face.
"Don't move. There are only five of you, and we have more people here," Truman said lazily.
"Don't think this is the end of it."
"If there's a next time, don't expect us to show you any mercy." Truman patted Flint's shoulder and laughed as he signaled for everyone to leave.
"Being a bad guy doesn't suit you. Why don't you be a good person instead?" Fred patted Flint on the shoulder and said, "Being a good person like us isn't so bad."
"They were definitely trying to be funny just now."
"I almost died laughing."
"Despite having a snow house, they still managed to freeze like that. Impressive."
Flint's antics made the students who were trying to collect the debt realize that if they were alone, they would definitely face retaliation from Flint and his group.
They had to stick together and not give the other side any opportunities. (End of Chapter)
