Chapter 418: Double the Joy!
Chapter 418: Double the Joy!
"Go? Of course, we should go!" Ron agreed without a second thought, but it took him a moment to realize what Ivan was talking about. He then looked at Ivan with surprise.
"Wait, you said Harry is going too? He got Professor Dumbledore to sign his permission slip?"
"No, he didn't! So we plan to sneak out through the secret passage!" Ivan shook his head and laughed.
"And I have the Invisibility Cloak, so no one will notice us!" Harry nodded, taking out the silver-gray Invisibility Cloak from his trunk.
"Cool! This is amazing!" Ron walked up to Harry and gave him a hug, patting his shoulder hard. Ron knew how much Harry wanted to go to Hogsmeade, and now he was finally getting his wish.
The two quickly began chatting about Hogsmeade, with Ron doing most of the talking. He had been there once before and enthusiastically described the various strange and interesting shops to Harry.
Ivan watched the enthusiastic duo and shook his head inwardly.
Harry and Ron were truly masters of courting death, not considering the dangers of sneaking out at this time. If Sirius Black really wanted to kill Harry, the two of them would likely not stand a chance.
However, for Ivan, this was a good thing. At least he wouldn't have to worry about convincing them.
But this relief lasted only one night.
The next morning, the overly excited Harry and Ron were still whispering about buying snacks from Honeydukes during lunch. Unfortunately, Hermione overheard them.
The young witch's eyes widened in disbelief. "Oh my, how can you even think of doing that?!"
Hermione's loud voice drew the attention of the other young Wizards in the Great Hall. Realizing this, she lowered her voice and glared at Harry, scolding him.
"Harry! Do you realize that Sirius Black is out there looking for you? You should be staying in the castle, not sneaking off to Hogsmeade for fun!
And you can't even get out! The Dementors are guarding every passage in Hogwarts. Do you remember what Professor Dumbledore said? Even with the Invisibility Cloak, you can't hide from them!"
Hermione rattled off a long list of reasons, trying to dissuade Harry from his unrealistic plan. However, Harry didn't seem to be buying it, and Ron chimed in smugly.
"Come on, Hermione! Harry and I discussed this all night. These aren't problems anymore. We've already figured out a solution!"
"Right! Ivan found a secret passage that leads directly to Hogsmeade. My Invisibility Cloak might not fool the Dementors, but it should be enough to trick Black!"
Harry also explained, although he really wanted to visit Hogsmeade, he wasn't recklessly planning to go out to die. He had thought it through carefully!
At least in Harry's view, this was foolproof. Sirius Black would never expect his target to be out and about, completely invisible.
Thinking this, Harry felt more confident. The only two factors restraining him from going out were Sirius Black and the Dementors.
Fortunately, he had already learned how to deal with the Dementors. The next time he encountered them, he wouldn't be as helpless as before!
Hermione looked at the confident Harry and Ron, rolling her eyes. She felt they didn't realize the seriousness of the situation.
Then, she turned to Ivan with a disapproving glare. She had thought Ivan would be more cautious, but he had revealed the secret passage to Harry and helped him plan this escapade.
Despite Hermione's silence, Ivan felt uncomfortable under her gaze, and the steak he was eating lost its flavor.
More importantly, he hadn't planned to tell Hermione about their trip to Hogsmeade.
This time, they were going to find Sirius Black to resolve the Peter Pettigrew issue. Hermione was neither a key figure like Harry nor Scabbers' owner; she should stay in the castle and wait for news!
But since Harry and the others had slipped, Ivan's plan to keep Hermione in the castle was likely ruined. He had to explain.
"I noticed Harry has been in a bad mood lately, always looking so gloomy. I thought a trip to Hogsmeade would help him relax and improve his Emotions. I'll be there to ensure everything goes smoothly, so don't worry too much."
Hermione's anger subsided after hearing Ivan's explanation, but she still looked concerned.
She knew how powerful Ivan was. In Knockturn Alley, Ivan had used the Invisibility Cloak to easily defeat ten Dark Wizards!
However, Sirius Black was no pushover. He was a dangerous criminal who had used a powerful spell to destroy an entire street. He would be tough to handle.
Ivan saw the worry in Hermione's eyes and wasn't sure whether to praise or be exasperated by her.
Compared to Harry and Ron's "fearless bravery", Hermione clearly understood the dangers of Harry going out, but sometimes being too smart wasn't a good thing, especially when it came to convincing her otherwise.
After breakfast, the group headed to class.
It wasn't a holiday, and they had a class today—Defense Against the Dark Arts with Professor Lupin.
For Harry, attending this year's Defense Against the Dark Arts class was pure enjoyment. He would gladly spend the entire day in Professor Lupin's class!
The thought of going to Hogsmeade in the afternoon made it even better. Harry felt this was the best day of the semester!
His smile never left his face as they walked to class. He quickly found a seat near the front, eagerly anticipating the lesson.
Would they learn how to deal with a Mermaid? Or perhaps interact with Goblins?
Just as Harry was daydreaming, the person he least wanted to see walked in through the door. Harry's smile slowly faded.
It wasn't Professor Lupin, but Severus Snape, dressed in his Black robes.
Harry, using the courage he had built up that morning, stood up and questioned Snape.
"Unless I'm mistaken, this class should be Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor!"
"Indeed, Potter, you are not mistaken!" Snape walked in, his hollow eyes locking with Harry's. He answered slowly, with a mocking tone.
"But I will be teaching this class today!"
