Chapter 417: Trident of Poseidon
Chapter 417: Trident of Poseidon
Treasure is relatively easy to divide, but dealing with living people like Barbossa is more complicated. They aren't so evil as to have lost their humanity, so Liam couldn't bring himself to kill these prisoners. In the end, Jack came up with a good solution: keep the more honest and less dangerous pirates, while stripping Barbossa and his cronies of everything they had, giving them a few knives and flints, and leaving them stranded on the island.
"This is for you. I just found it on Barbossa, but I can't understand what's written inside. I figured you, as a Wizard, might like it." After the ship left the island, Captain Jack tossed a leather notebook with a red ruby inlay over to Liam.
"Hold on, isn't this the notebook from the fifth movie, the one that records the location of the Trident of Poseidon? So this thing was with Barbossa all along." Liam thought as he flipped through the notebook, and sure enough, he found Galileo Galilei's signature on the first page.
"It looks like I won't be returning home anytime soon after this trip to Port Royal." Liam had no interest in the Soul Casket or the Fountain of Youth. The former was similar to a Horcrux, but its effects were worse than Voldemort's, and it had more severe side effects. The latter was useless to Liam, who had already found his own path to immortality.
But the Trident of Poseidon was different. From the original movies, it was clear that this was a powerful artifact capable of altering the rules. Liam had previously studied Deity to find a way to master the rules, ultimately to defeat Voldemort. Voldemort's supposed ability to escape death wasn't just a claim; he had truly grasped some of the secrets of death.
Since Liam didn't plan to join the pirate ranks, he bid farewell to Captain Jack and the Black Pearl on the return journey. Jack was heading to Tortuga to recruit more crew members, while Liam sailed the Jackdaw back to Port Royal to establish a trade base in this world.
The Jackdaw's arrival in port drew a lot of attention, especially since the once-poor Will was now seen disembarking with the Governor's daughter. When they arrived at the Governor's mansion, Governor Swann was overjoyed to see his daughter return, while Commander Norrington was still out searching for Elizabeth.
Governor Swann had always known that his daughter and Will were in love, but he hoped she would find a husband of equal standing. Commodore Wellington fit that description perfectly, and the marriage alliance would secure an ally for Port Royal, strengthening the Governor's authority.
However, Will's unwavering dedication to Elizabeth during this crisis proved that marrying her to him was the best choice. After all, the Governor had only one daughter, and no amount of power could outweigh her future. Since she had found true love, it was best to support their union.
Moreover, Will had brought back a significant amount of treasure and a powerful Wizard as a partner. From both a wealth and strength perspective, a marriage to Will would benefit the Governor just as much as a marriage to Commodore Wellington. This could be a pleasant surprise.
To thank and court Liam, Governor Swann generously sold him five times the land he had previously purchased at a very low price, considering it was mostly barren land, the price was almost a giveaway.
With this, Liam summoned a large number of robots to help with the construction. In just a month, the basic infrastructure was nearly complete, and Will had recruited a group of people with clean backgrounds as per Liam's request. After being trained by Liam's memory infusion machine, these individuals began their new careers as employees.
After a week of trial operations, the trading company began to generate significant profits. Liam, after instructing Will to gather more intelligence, set out on his journey to find the Trident of Poseidon. After all, Will was getting married soon, and Liam didn't want to be a third wheel.
During this time, Liam used Magic to see the words on the notebook cover and the location of the island. He successfully calculated the island's position and even used the Green Seer's ability to control the albatross, allowing him to see the island that shone like a starlit sky with his own eyes.
"Ah, the vast ocean, the feeling of the sea breeze blowing through my long hair is truly amazing!" Rose Crystal exclaimed, spreading her arms wide. "At a time like this, you need to be on a boat to feel the romance. Flying there is fast, but it lacks any feeling."
"I completely agree with you", Liam said, raising his eyes with a sigh. "But could you get off my monocular? It's really tiring to hold you up like this."
"Oh, sorry, sorry", Rose Crystal hopped off the monocular and spun around in the air. "You said it's heavy to hold me up. Could it be because I've been eating too much seafood and gained weight? Oh, lack of self-control is the biggest enemy of someone who cares about their appearance."
Liam kept a smile on his face, unsure of what to say. How could a Puppet worry about gaining weight? But it wasn't a bad thing that Rose Crystal had such thoughts; it showed she was making significant progress in refining her soul.
"Don't worry, even if you become round and chubby, I'll still think you're my cutest little sister", Liam teased.
"Stupid Big Brother, this girl will always be a sixteen-year-old beauty, and I won't gain weight", Rose Crystal immediately jumped up, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. This was a habit they had when they were alone together; bickering made their relationship even stronger.
"The island has appeared", Little Qing hissed. Sure enough, a black island appeared before them. However, this island wasn't entirely black; it had some transparent objects reflecting sunlight, making it shine with countless points of light, like a starlit sky at night.
"Wow, so beautiful", Rose Crystal exclaimed, immediately flying up. Perhaps because of her name, she had always been fascinated by these transparent, glowing crystals. Seeing the gems on the island, she flew over right away. Liam smiled, shook his head, and rode his broom to follow, instructing Little Qing to keep the ship at a distance.
Liam quickly found the missing star position and, following the method from the movie, embedded the ruby that had originally been on the notebook cover into the spot.
Instantly, the ruby at the star position emitted a brilliant red light. Then, the five star positions on the island were connected by red light, forming the shape of the Trident of Poseidon, awakening the Trident of Poseidon at the bottom of the sea.
At the same time, the entire sea and the island began to tremble violently, and a fissure opened up, leading straight to the ocean floor. The seawater on either side of the fissure formed towering walls of water.
"Is this the Power of the Rules?" Liam asked, riding his broom in the sky, with Rose Crystal flying beside him.
"There", the small Puppet, with her keen eyes, immediately spotted the Trident of Poseidon standing at the bottom of the sea.
Liam quickly looked in the direction Rose Crystal indicated and saw a yellow-green glowing object that looked like a withered branch, embedded in the ocean floor. He could feel a powerful energy emanating from it.
"So this is the Trident of Poseidon? It looks different from the statue", Liam said, landing on the ocean floor and picking up the object, which resembled the over-radiated withered branches from the Radiant World. The shape was indeed quite abstract, but the power he felt in his hand confirmed it wasn't a fake.
"Alright, you've got what you wanted from this adventure. Now it's time for me to get what I want, Big Brother", the Puppet said, floating in front of Liam with a smile after he put away the Trident of Poseidon and returned to the ship.
Well, it was time to do the heavy lifting.
