Chapter 417: Guidance
Chapter 417: Guidance
Outside the Combat Gym, a senior student named Yu was returning from an errand. He noticed the Gare Car parked there, belonging to Chen Chuan, and couldn't help but take a few extra glances at it.
"Wow, a modified Gare Car?" he exclaimed.
He circled around the car, his eyes filled with admiration and envy. He had wanted to buy a car like this for a long time.
Unfortunately, the area where the gym was located made it impractical to own a car, and he would have to give it to someone else if he bought one. So, he had only thought about it without taking any action.
As he looked at the car lock, a slightly protruding disc, his gaze became fixed on it, "Is this... a Twist Heavy Lever?"
He tried to touch it with his hand, but shook his head. It required an incredibly strong finger force to turn, which he couldn't manage. The owner of this car must be a highly skilled individual.
What was such a skilled person doing here?
He glanced into the gym and listened carefully. As he focused his attention, he heard the sounds of a fight coming from inside the gym, and from the breaking sound, he could tell it wasn't something a child could achieve.
His expression turned serious. He unfastened the iron chain clasp on his arm, attached the customized weight ball, and quickly walked inside.
The gym looked simple from the outside, but the interior conditions were quite decent. At this moment, the light from outside shone through the high windows above, illuminating the arena brightly.
Inside, the children were sitting against the wall, while Lu Fang was sparring with a young man in his late teens.
Lu Fang was on the offensive, but the young man only stood in place, blocking the attacks. No matter how Lu Fang attacked, he couldn't force the young man to move, and the young man didn't seem to counterattack. After a few exchanges, Lu Fang was easily knocked aside with a casual gesture.
However, it was clear that the young man was holding back, and his power was just enough. Lu Fang fell to the ground, rolled, and quickly stood up without any apparent injuries.
Senior Yu realized they were just sparring, so he put away his weapon, but his mind was in awe.
Lu Fang had sparred with him privately before, and their skills were not far apart. But he could sense that in a life-or-death fight, he might not be able to win.
And that was some time ago.
Lu Fang had been working hard, teaching and constantly refining his physique and skills. He was the earliest to rise and the latest to sleep, and his combat abilities should have improved. Yet, he seemed powerless against the young man.
"This... this is..."
After taking a few more glances, Senior Yu was shocked. He suddenly realized that this was the same person he had seen on the video, defeating Wei Wusheng. A Tier Three Combatant?!
For a moment, his eyes widened in disbelief.
"What's going on here?"
Lu Fang wasn't one to show off, so he didn't mention that Chen Chuan was the senior student he knew. But Senior Yu was quick-witted, and after the initial shock, he soon understood. His face showed a mix of disbelief and excitement.
In the arena, Lu Fang fell again, something that had happened multiple times during the fight. But it wasn't a one-sided beating; each time, Lu Fang gained new insights.
Chen Chuan maintained his position, using only Tier Two levels of strength and speed.
This was just a guidance session, and pure physical dominance would be meaningless. So, he used mostly techniques, and even his Altered Tissue wasn't utilized excessively, only enough to match Lu Fang's level.
Even so, Lu Fang was still far from being a match.
This was because, even with similar Altered Tissue, Chen Chuan's utilization rate was far superior. Their understanding of techniques and combat judgment were on entirely different levels.
Through numerous encounters with Tier Three Combatants, Chen Chuan had accumulated rich experience. He knew what his opponent intended with each move and naturally countered them, resulting in a one-sided display.
After being knocked down countless times, Lu Fang finally stopped charging forward. He was drenched in sweat and panting, but his expression was exhilarated.
He felt that in this short time, he had gained tremendous improvement, not in physical attributes, but in his understanding of combat and the control and utilization of power.
Lu Fang bowed to Chen Chuan in gratitude, "Chen Xue Di, thank you!"
Chen Chuan said, "Lu Xue Chang, no need for formality. During our sparring, I noticed some inconsistencies in your movements. You might need to make some adjustments."
Lu Fang was taken aback, "Oh, where?"
Chen Chuan approached and tapped his waist, back, and limbs, explaining the issues he observed.
Combatants below Tier Three usually had less noticeable Field Domains, only becoming evident during combat or after consuming stimulants. Through the previous fight, Chen Chuan had a clear understanding of Lu Fang's condition.
Senior Lu had a solid and robust foundation, but there were a few areas of Altered Tissue that lacked continuity, and those areas needed reinforcement.
There were also some areas that were overly resilient, which restricted his movements, causing the overall coordination to suffer. The true power transmitted was somewhat diminished. During training, one must consciously strengthen other parts to quickly restore balance.
If one follows his advice, within half a month, their strength will increase by at least ten to twenty percent.
Don't underestimate such a small improvement; for a fighter, even a slight progress is enough to overwhelm opponents of equal strength.
Lu Fang's breathing also had some irregularities. He was likely using the breathing technique taught at Wu Yi Academy.
However, each person is unique, and a universal breathing method can only cater to the majority, not necessarily suitable for everyone. It requires self-adjustment.
For instance, Chen Chuan has always been conscious of this and made adjustments. The general principle of the breathing technique was correct, but the finer details had become tailored to his own needs.
Lu Fang could have figured this out himself, but it would have taken a long time. Now, with Chen Chuan's guidance, he had avoided many detours.
The value of a teacher is to show you the right direction, so you don't waste time on trial and error and miss out on growth opportunities.
A fighter's golden period of growth is limited, and wasting it on such contemplation might mean missing out on reaching their full potential, never achieving greater heights.
As Chen Chuan was giving pointers, Yu Xuelang stood by and watched. Chen Chuan didn't hide anything from him, as these techniques were useless to others. Yu Xuelang couldn't help but show a hint of envy in his eyes.
After Lu Fang finished listening, he snapped out of his trance and noticed Yu Xuelang standing nearby. Lu Fang immediately introduced them, saying, "Chen Xue Di, this is Senior Yu Xuelang. I came to Central City thanks to him and Senior Guo Xuelang." Then, turning to Yu Xuelang, he said, "Senior Yu, this is the Chen Xue Di I told you about."
The two seniors exchanged greetings, and Yu Xuelang's face lit up with a smile. "It's an honor to finally meet you, Chen Xue Di. I've heard a lot about you from Lu Xue Chang."
Chen Chuan looked at him and said, "I apologize for the sudden visit and disturbance, Senior Yu. Since you're here, how about a friendly spar?"
Yu Xuelang was delighted and nodded eagerly, afraid Chen Chuan might change his mind. "Sure!"
While Chen Chuan was giving pointers, Senior Guo Xuelang also returned. Whether he instructed one or two people, Chen Chuan's guidance benefited both of them.
Chen Chuan sensed that both seniors had their own thoughts, but he didn't hold any biases against them.
With their martial prowess, they could easily find a place in any gang, earning much more money. Yet, they hadn't been involved in any trouble, indicating that even if they had minor flaws, their character wasn't entirely flawed.
After the session, the two seniors enthusiastically invited Chen Chuan to a high-end restaurant in the Deep Uncharted Zone for a meal, spending all the money they had saved over several months. However, they didn't feel it was a loss; instead, they felt it was worth it. Where else could they find a Tier Three Fighter to give them pointers?
It was unimaginable to think that such an amount of money could buy such an opportunity. Today, they had to thank Lu Fang for the connection; otherwise, they wouldn't have even gotten close to such a person.
After the meal, Chen Chuan bid farewell and left, while Lu Fang saw him off.
Yu Xuelang watched the two leave, expressing his admiration. "Today, I finally understood the prowess of a Tier Three Fighter. Even back in the academy, were there any teachers who could pinpoint our issues so clearly?"
Senior Guo Xuelang agreed, "Yes, it's not that the teachers were incompetent, but I think it's because Chen Xue Di is exceptionally skilled."
His guess wasn't wrong. Chen Chuan's ability stemmed from his high coverage of altered tissue, giving him a deep understanding of certain issues, unlike teachers who merely recited textbooks.
Moreover, Chen Chuan had also mastered the biological field domain, a skill necessary to identify and point out such intricate flaws.
Back at the car, Chen Chuan asked, "Lu Xue Chang, is everything okay over there?"
Lu Fang replied, "Everything's fine. Yes, my sister, she's now living her own life, number thirteen."
After Zhao Qian's death, Number Thirteen, as a puppet without a master, couldn't be controlled. The house became her residence, and she renamed herself "Shi Yi," a Resonator who used her skills to accept commissions and support herself.
As for Zhao Qian's loyal servant, upon realizing they couldn't defeat them, he refused food and water and passed away half a month later. The two buried him in the backyard.
Lu Fang said, "I won't give up searching for my sister's whereabouts. Now, I lack the strength, but when I have my own power, I will investigate clearly."
Chen Chuan nodded. "Senior Lu, see you later." He opened the car door, got in, and drove off into the dazzling lights of Central City, under Lu Fang's watchful gaze.
