Chapter 417: Breeding and Archaeology
Chapter 417: Breeding and Archaeology
After circling around the second stone chamber and finding nothing of note, Li Qian was not in the least bit anxious. He patiently memorized everything, and if it weren't for Bai Bingbing's instruction not to take photos without permission, he would have documented it all.
Fortunately, after experiencing several evolution feedbacks, Li Qian's physical fitness and memory were now exceptional. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to remember much.
These pieces of information, though seemingly useless at the moment, would directly convert into Inspiration Points if they ever became relevant to future evolutions.
Li Qian had no intention of giving up such valuable resources to enrich his foundation.
He wished he had two brains to memorize all this information, but the human mind, unlike a machine, couldn't possibly imprint everything.
After browsing and memorizing the contents of the chamber, Li Qian left without further delay and headed straight for the third and final stone chamber.
As soon as he entered, Li Qian couldn't help but shake his head. It seemed like a battle had taken place inside, leaving most of the statues and stone carvings damaged beyond recognition, with only a few intact.
"A bit of a pity..." Li Qian sighed regretfully after circling the room and finding nothing of note.
Returning to the interior of the underground palace, he scanned the area once more, but still, no Inspiration Points prompts appeared. Li Qian decided not to waste any more time.
He turned to Irina and Bai Bingbing, "Let's go back. I've already explored this place."
"Did you find anything?" Irina asked curiously.
She knew Li Qian was a breeding genius, but she wasn't familiar with his specific methods of researching companion beast evolution.
Li Qian nodded and replied as they walked back, "Yes, I did find something..."
"Did you figure out the evolution method for a six-tailed cat?" Bai Bingbing also showed interest and asked.
Irina glanced at Bai Bingbing with a slightly odd expression, thinking the girl was a bit foolish.
Companion beast research wasn't easy. All the breeders in the school meticulously studied, refined, and experimented step by step before achieving any results.
In Irina's opinion, it was almost impossible for Li Qian to gain inspiration and research the evolution method of a companion beast just by strolling through the place once.
She thought Bai Bingbing was a bit naive and perhaps had a personal admiration for Li Qian.
Irina was curious to see how Li Qian would respond. Would he boast to save face in front of her?
As Irina looked on with curiosity, Li Qian spoke, and his words surprised her slightly.
"I'm almost there," Li Qian said.
"Did you figure out the evolution method from a five-tailed cat to a six-tailed cat?" Irina thought Li Qian might be overstating his abilities, but after reconsidering, she didn't think he was that kind of person, so she asked again for confirmation.
Li Qian looked at Irina and nodded, "Yes, I have, although there are still some gaps. But it's not a big issue."
"Can you demonstrate the evolution process for us?" Irina asked, looking at Li Qian expectantly.
Li Qian glanced at his senior, Irina, with a puzzled look in his eyes. He couldn't understand why she, usually so frugal with her words, was acting like an inquisitive child.
After some thought, he nodded, "I can, but I need to visit Professor Liang first. Her assistance is required for the evolution."
"Does Ms. Liang need assistance?" Li Qian's words also caught Bai Bingbing's attention.
Without paying any more heed to the two women's inquiries, Li Qian strode out of the underground palace.
As he exited the stone tower, Li Qian's gaze swept around, and soon he spotted a familiar figure on the outskirts of a cordoned-off area.
At this moment, a group of young people, who seemed to be students, were gathered around the cordon, listening attentively.
Ms. Liang was likely sharing some knowledge with the students, and they appeared to be listening with great focus.
Upon seeing this, Bai Bingbing immediately quickened her steps and headed over. Opportunities like this, where Ms. Liang was giving a lecture at an archaeological site, were rare.
She couldn't afford to miss this chance.
Seeing Bai Bingbing eagerly rushing over to listen to the lecture, Li Qian also became interested and followed her.
As for Yilina, she remained standing in her original spot, motionless, clearly not wanting to join them for fear of being suspected of eavesdropping.
Li Qian, however, didn't mind at all.
He was a student at Shazhou Beast University, and encountering Ms. Liang here was a stroke of luck. He decided to take this opportunity to attend an open lecture.
Ms. Liang's voice wasn't loud, but it was exceptionally clear in Li Qian's ears.
"...Students, as I mentioned earlier, this ancient site in Luoying City is from the Fourth Epoch, also known as the Rongren Era. Look at the architecture around you; the horned roof resembling a rhinoceros horn is a typical feature of Rongren ruins..."
Ms. Liang explained in detail, sharing numerous insights related to Rongren ruins.
If it weren't for Bai Bingbing's previous explanations, Li Qian would have been utterly confused by now.
But now, he was able to grasp some of the information, a small but significant gain.
As he listened, Li Qian suddenly sensed something amiss.
It seemed like a sharp gaze was constantly staring at him.
Trusting his instincts, Li Qian looked over, and the next moment, he noticed a figure in the crowd trying hard to turn away.
Frowning slightly, Li Qian pondered for a moment before recalling the identity of this figure.
It was Liu Qingyuan, the student from Teacher Huang's team.
He was also listening to Ms. Liang's lecture.
Li Qian felt a bit puzzled but soon understood. This archaeological excavation was likely a learning opportunity for the students, a chance to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
Earlier, Bai Bingbing had mentioned that a teacher named Yang had talked about a fruit similar to the serpent-pupil tree fruit, known as the Emerald Spirit Eye.
It was likely that this teacher had also given such public lectures.
Understanding the situation, Li Qian realized that Liu Qingyuan had been staring at him earlier. A wry smile appeared on Li Qian's face.
What was this all about? He and Bai Bingbing had a pure relationship, with no entanglements whatsoever. Why was he being treated like a romantic rival?
With a resigned smile, Li Qian withdrew his gaze, no longer paying attention to the attention-seeking clown.
Indeed, in Li Qian's eyes, Liu Qingyuan was nothing more than a clown.
There was no need to give him any mind.
Li Qian refocused his attention on Ms. Liang's lecture, diligently absorbing the knowledge she shared.
After this incident, Li Qian realized that in the future, if he continued to delve deeper into research in this field, he would undoubtedly encounter intersections with archaeology. Many unique evolutionary methods were buried in the dust of history.
While he didn't need to become an expert, he had to have some knowledge of these subjects.
