Chapter 416: Surprise
Chapter 416: Surprise
At the library entrance, Kyle and Hermione stared at each other, both feeling a bit awkward.
"Sorry..." Hermione whispered.
Just as she slammed the table, Professor Flitwick happened to return after putting away some books.
Like most students who made noise in the library, both of them were promptly ushered out.
"I don't mind," Kyle shrugged, "I wasn't planning to stay in the library anyway. Now it's just right... I'm going to find Hagrid, want to come with me?"
"No," Hermione thought for a moment and shook her head, "I plan to go through the Runic books again and make up for the time I wasted."
"That's fine," Kyle said, "But remember, don't misuse the Time-Turner again, or your condition will only get worse."
"Okay..."
The two separated at the staircase.
Kyle returned to the first floor, passing through the entrance hall and heading towards Hagrid's hut.
Today, the hut was bustling with activity, with not only Conna and the others but also Harry and Ron present.
They gathered together, discussing something excitedly.
As Kyle approached, he noticed a nest made of hay on the table between them.
Inside was a small animal resembling a lion cub, but its tail was curved like a scorpion's.
"A Chimaera?" Kyle exclaimed in surprise.
"I knew you'd guess it," Hagrid said happily, "A few days ago, I found a Chimaera giving birth in the depths of the Forbidden Forest. I figured it must have recently come here from somewhere else.
After all, the Forbidden Forest never had such a creature before."
Hagrid was beaming with joy, even playfully poking the little one in the hay nest, unbothered by the bite on his finger.
"Look how happy it is," Hagrid said, completely smitten.
For Hagrid, finding a Chimaera in the Forbidden Forest was like accidentally discovering a treasure, so excited that he couldn't sleep for several days, staying up day and night in the depths of the forest.
The last time he was this excited was when he became the Care of Magical Creatures professor.
"So, Hagrid, are you planning to bring it to class?" Kyle asked.
"Of course not..." Hagrid shook his head repeatedly, "A Chimaera is a 5X-level magical creature. Professor Dumbledore would never agree to let it appear before the students, even if it's just a cub."
Kyle nodded in agreement.
Indeed, a Chimaera was not suitable for the classroom, although it was still small, and a bite would only cause a little bleeding at most. But the problem was that there was also an adult one in the Forbidden Forest.
If someone mishandled it, and it got angry, it might use a Summoning Charm, and that would be a big problem.
Especially the Slytherin students, they rarely cared about what Hagrid said. Half of the troubles in the Care of Magical Creatures class were caused by them, and the other half were also related to them.
When facing an angry adult Chimaera, even Hagrid couldn't protect too many people.
"I brought it here this time just to let you broaden your horizons..." Hagrid continued, "After all, it's a rare opportunity. In other places, you won't get to see the young of a 5X magical creature."
Upon hearing this, Kyle raised an eyebrow.
This statement was incorrect; he had not only seen but also delivered them.
The little Nifflers in Newt's case treated him with utmost respect, almost calling him 'uncle.'
There was a nest of Hungarian Horntails in Romania that he had watched hatch.
He just hadn't mentioned it.
"Hagrid, can I touch it?" Ron asked eagerly, his face full of longing. "Please, just once."
"No, Ron," Hagrid said sternly. "I told you before, you can only stand there. It's for your own safety."
"Alright," Ron pouted, feeling a twinge of regret.
This was a 5X magical creature; if he could touch it, he would have something to boast about for a while.
Previously, when Sirius Black broke into the Gryffindor dormitory, Ron had been in the spotlight for several days, receiving more attention than Harry for the first time in his life.
He loved that feeling.
However, people were now more interested in Professor Lupin's gossip, and no one wanted to hear about his adventures.
"But Hagrid..." At this moment, Conna asked hesitantly, "Didn't you say in the letter that you wanted us to help choose the magical creatures to be displayed in class?"
"Oh, that was just to give you a surprise. In fact, I've already chosen the magical creatures you'll be studying in class."
Hagrid smiled and said, "Fire Crabs and Airborne Birds, both are young ones. If you want to see them, you can go to the hut.

However, be careful to close the door after entering... The Chimaera's scent will scare them."
No one moved... Everyone's gaze remained on the little ones in the hay nest.
Fire Crabs and Airborne Birds could be seen anytime, no need to rush for this moment.
At this moment, Kyle suddenly felt someone tapping his shoulder. He turned around and saw it was Hagrid, who gestured for him to come to the side.
Kyle followed, although he didn't know what was happening.
"What's the matter?" Kyle asked.
"Well..." Hagrid said awkwardly, "A few days ago, I overheard some Slytherins saying that you had dragon teeth for sale. Do you still have any?"
"Yes," Kyle nodded. He had plenty of those.
"Can you sell me some?" Hagrid whispered and placed a cloth bag in Kyle's hand. "Professor Dumbledore gave me an extra professor's salary. See how much you can exchange it for."
The bag was heavy, probably containing a few hundred Galleons.
Hagrid didn't need to spend money on food or accommodation; at most, he would go to The Three Broomsticks or drink a few cups of mead at The Hog's Head. Almost all his money was here.
"This... it's simple. Wait a moment." Kyle ran into Hagrid's hut and closed the door.
When he came out, he had another bag in his hand.
"Two teeth for each type of dragon, along with the corresponding dragon scales."
Kyle stuffed these items, along with the previous bag containing Galleons, into Hagrid's hands.
"You gave me the wrong bag," Hagrid said. "These Galleons are for you."
"Don't joke, Hagrid," Kyle laughed and waved his hand, saying, "I won't take your money."
"No!" Hagrid shook his head, insisting, "I've heard them say that these items are from Romania. If you insist on not taking the money, then I won't take them."
As he spoke, Hagrid clenched his teeth and handed the items back.
