Chapter 415: Let's See How Tough It Is
Chapter 415: Let's See How Tough It Is
"Chief, is it wise to attack the Warship head-on?"
A subordinate cast a worried glance at the green-haired crew leader.
"Hehahaha! What Warship? In this era, the Navy can't control us anymore! Right!"
The green-haired man shot his subordinate a glare before fixing his gaze on the Warship, his voice darkening. "I refuse to believe Luffy Senior died so easily. But regardless, I'll make the Navy feel my rage! It's their fault Luffy Senior had to charge alone into that war!"
"Cannon fire! Keep firing! Let the Navy taste my terror!" He unsheathed the short blade at his waist, raising it high as he roared.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The cannons kept pounding the Warship on the ocean.
"This is endless."
Klah's face hardened. He shifted his stance, preparing to use Moonstep to board the ship.
Whoosh!
But suddenly, a howling wind erupted from behind him, deflecting the incoming cannonballs back toward their source.
A wispy afterimage moved faster than his technique, soaring into the sky toward Shabondy.
"The cannonballs are coming back!"
The pirates manning the cannons scattered in panic as the projectiles returned, smashing their artillery to pieces. The explosion engulfed them, sending bodies flying.
"Who dares sabotage my Bartolomeo officers' cannon fire?!"
The green-haired leader bellowed furiously, but his rage froze when he saw the figure descending from the sky.
"I remember you."
The man in the sky gripped his Black Blade, staring down at him coldly. "Didn't I warn you to stick to your promising career in the black gang and avoid piracy? Looks like you never listen."
Bartolomeo's eyes bulged, his tongue nearly lolling out. "Lu... Rurusi Lu, Ku.Kuro!"
"You bastard! Why are you here in Shabondy?!" he screamed, panic overtaking him.
This man should've been in the West Blue!
Why was he here in Shabondy?
After Lucius, the world had learned Kuro's name—including Bartolomeo.
Compared to ordinary pirates, Bartolomeo's memory of this man ran deeper.
Because he'd met him before.
A year ago in Loguetown, that bloodthirsty killer whose killing intent felt like a demon's had shaken Bartolomeo's confidence in following Luffy-senior.
"The Navy? I go wherever I please."
Kuro's reply was curt. His gaze swept over Bartolomeo's surroundings—bodies of Navy men, thugs, and even civilians lay scattered.
"Doing well, pirate", he said, locking eyes with Bartolomeo.
The Warship had already docked swiftly.
"Bartolomeo!"
Wilburcommander spotted the green-haired pirate and shouted, "Vice Admiral Kuro, be careful! This is this year's Super Nova, 'Barto Club' captain Bartolomeo! His bounty is 150 million Beri! He's the pirate ranked first on the 'Most Wanted to Disappear' list—extremely dangerous and ruthless!"
"Bartolomeo?" Lida tilted his head. "Sounds familiar. Wasn't he on one of those Wanted Posters?"
"I know him", Klah adjusted his glasses. "This year's standout pirate. Though not the highest bounty among the over-100-million pirates, he's the cruelest. He bombarded towns and spread images of pirates he'd skewered alive. But 150 million? That's too weak for Mr. Kuro."
He stepped forward, leaping from the ship with a graceful landing. Adjusting his dress uniform with perfect etiquette, his Navy cloak billowed behind him. Suddenly, he vanished like a wisp.
"Shave!"
Before Bartolomeo could react, Klah appeared before him, fingers curled into an eagle claw. "Fishman Karate—Wolf Claw!"
A frail body like this would surely have five bleeding holes torn through it.
Clang!
But as Klah struck, his hand halted midair with a sharp metallic sound, unable to advance an inch.
Bartolomeo kept his hands in his pockets, smirking effortlessly. "You think I'm some weakling to be cut down? Right?!"
Klah's eyes widened. He shifted sideways, dodging just as the tree behind him shattered. The trunk's center had been blown clean away, leaving a gaping hole.
"What was that?"
Klah flexed his fingers, unnerved. The impact felt like striking steel.
"Devil Fruit user?"
He glared at Bartolomeo's sneering face, crouching low. His voice dropped. "No wonder he's dangerous."
With a guttural growl, his body swelled. Black fur sprouted across his skin, his upper face twisting into a gruesome wolf's snout.
The transformed Klah extended his sharpened claws. "Let's see if I can break through your ability."
Whoosh!
Klah vanished, reappearing behind Bartolomeo in a flash of grass. His claw struck—
Clang!
Again, the attack met an invisible barrier, the sound echoing like metal.
Klah didn't linger. He vanished again, aiming for Bartolomeo's flank.
Bang!
Suddenly, he stumbled backward, clutching his nose. "You bastard..."
"Hehahaha! Scared me! Didn't notice the range?"
Bartolomeo laughed, pulling his hand from his pocket. "Barrier Ball!"
Clang!
Klah reappeared at Bartolomeo's side, striking again—only to meet the same metallic sound.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Klah's afterimages circled him, blows raining from all angles. Fists, kicks—nothing pierced the barrier.
"Superspeed Shave!"
Klah reemerged outside the fray, claws crossed. "Raging Gale!"
Whoosh!
The ground tore apart as a whirlwind lashed sideways at Bartolomeo.
Klah appeared before him, claws forming an X, a flash of light cutting through the air—
Clang!!!
The strike failed again. Klah staggered back, flexing his fingers. "What the hell is this?!"
"Hehahaha!"
Bartolomeo cackled. "I ate the 'Zou Zou Devil Fruit'—I'm the 'Barrier Human'! I can create barriers anywhere! Try all you want—you'll never break through! No one's ever pierced my barrier! Right?!"
"Is that so?"
A voice echoed from the sky.
"Klah, move aside."
As the words fell, a massive golden slash tore through the air, hurtling toward Bartolomeo.
"Let's see how tough this barrier is—one even Oden couldn't break!"
Bartolomeo, Merry Christmas. Nongli, Nongli, Christmas. Wanting to send blessings but not knowing to whom, love is tied in a deadly knot by us.
Tears froze in the wind.
