Chapter 414: The Abominable Snowman's Revenge
Chapter 414: The Abominable Snowman's Revenge
The Abominable Snowman abruptly stopped dancing, and the cheerful atmosphere that had enveloped the area vanished in an instant.
Snape could be seen striding towards them, his injured leg now seemingly healed. It was he who had caused the Abominable Snowman to revert to its original state. Albert also noted that Snape's injured leg had returned to normal.
"We were enjoying the snowman's dance," Albert replied calmly, as if he were describing something mundane.
A snowman dancing?
Yes, they were indeed admiring the Abominable Snowman's dance.
"Five points from Gryffindor," Snape said grimly, his hawk-like nose almost touching Albert's face. "I expected you to spend your time on more productive pursuits."
"No, I think a balance between work and leisure is important... Professor Snape," Albert paused, as if realizing something, then quickly sidestepped a few steps away from the Abominable Snowman, warning quickly, "I think we should move away from this snowman, it seems about to..."
"And another ten points from Gryffindor, Mr. Anderson. I..."
Before Snape could finish his sentence, he realized something was amiss. He turned his head towards the Abominable Snowman and instinctively reached for his wand in his pocket, but it was too late.
Right before their eyes, the Abominable Snowman toppled towards Snape. Albert had already sidestepped, but Snape wasn't quick enough to dodge, and he was knocked to the ground by the falling snowman.
Everyone stood frozen, their eyes wide in disbelief at the scene before them. No one had expected the Abominable Snowman to collapse, much less take Snape down with it.
A few Slytherin students who had been relishing Albert's misfortune were left speechless, their schadenfreude turning to stunned silence. The contrast between their expectations and the actual outcome caused their facial muscles to twitch uncontrollably.
"I tried to warn you," Albert muttered helplessly as he looked at Professor Snape, who was now buried in the snow. "Why didn't you listen?"
Wow! The next moment, enthusiastic applause erupted in the castle's courtyard.
Ahem! "Everyone, please help dig out Professor Snape from the snow."
Albert coughed lightly, signaling for others to assist in rescuing Snape.
"Yes, come on, let's help!"
Fred seemed to understand Albert's intention and quietly gave him a thumbs-up before joining in the rescue effort. The others also came forward, smiling, to help dig out the snow, deliberately slowing down and leaving Snape half-buried.
"Hurry up!"
Albert urged, "I hope Professor Snape is alright."
"Don't worry, how could anything happen to Professor Snape? He'll crawl out of the snow any moment now," Fred reassured through his suppressed laughter. He knew that Albert's concern was feigned for the benefit of the onlookers. How could the snowman possibly overpower Snape?
"Don't be ridiculous. This snowman is heavy, and we don't know what could happen if someone is struck by it. Dig the person out quickly and send them to the school hospital," Albert urged, concerned about the length of time Snape had been buried in the snow. What if Snape had somehow perished from this unexpected incident? The story must go on! Indeed, Snape had been knocked unconscious by the snowman. He had intended to draw his wand and cast a protective spell, but that had been a mistake. Perhaps if he had simply cast a basic wandless spell, he wouldn't be in this predicament.
This was the downside of being a wizard; without magical protection, their physical bodies were incredibly fragile.
After five minutes, Snape was dug out by the group, his lips had turned white, and he had fallen unconscious. Albert cast several revitalizing spells on him before conjuring a stretcher and asking a few nearby students to help carry Snape to the school hospital.
Once Snape was taken away, everyone else remained rooted to the spot, still trying to make sense of what had just happened.
How did the snowman suddenly collapse and end up knocking out Professor Snape?
It must have been the snowman's revenge!
That had to be it.
The next moment, cheers erupted throughout the courtyard.
"Awesome!"
A delighted smile spread across Harry's face as he joined in the cheers. "Serves Snape right!"
"Why didn't we just leave Snape buried in the snow?" Ron lamented. "I wish he'd stay buried there forever."
"Albert did try to warn Professor Snape about the snowman's instability and asked him to stay away," Hermione spoke up in Albert's defense, and indeed, these were the facts. "But Professor Snape was too busy deducting points from Gryffindor, and now he's gotten what he deserved."
"I heard that too," someone immediately chimed in.
"Me too! I heard it as well!"
Others followed suit, regardless of whether they had actually heard it or not. It was clear that this incident was not Albert's fault; Professor Snape had ignored the warning and suffered the consequences of being knocked out by the falling snowman.
While some reveled in Snape's misfortune, it was Albert who had organized the rescue effort, displaying noble character. Anyone who dared to speak ill of him or cause him trouble would have to answer to the rest of the group. They wished that Snape had stayed buried in the snow forever.
"But how could Professor Snape be knocked out by a snowman?" The students began discussing the unprecedented event.
"It's unheard of."
"Is he even qualified to be a professor?"
"Even you would not have been able to react in time. It was his own fault for missing the best opportunity to cast a spell. By the time he realized it, it was too late," Truman shifted the blame entirely onto Snape.
"Why didn't anyone take a picture just now?!"
...
News of Professor Snape being knocked out by a snowman quickly spread throughout Hogwarts, becoming a popular topic of conversation.
At that moment, Albert and his roommates had already carried Snape into the school hospital. Madam Pomfrey, upon seeing Snape's pale face, was stunned. Before she could ask what had happened, Albert quickly explained the situation.
The students who had helped carry Snape backed up his story, confirming the events.
"My goodness, what a turn of events!" Madam Pomfrey exclaimed as she looked at Snape's pale lips and quickly began emergency treatment.
Soon after, Snape regained consciousness, his eyes still a bit dazed as his body steamed from the warmth returning to his chilled form.
As he turned his head to look at Albert, his lips twitched as if to speak, but hurried footsteps interrupted him. Professor McGonagall had rushed over, clearly having been informed of the incident.
Professor McGonagall glared at Albert sternly. "Explain what happened."
