Chapter 412: Unity is Strength, Persistence is Victory!
Chapter 412: Unity is Strength, Persistence is Victory!
The material that forms a Patronus is the positive force within a Wizard, which happens to be the food of Dementors.
Usually, the form of a Patronus that a Wizard conjures is extremely solid and not easily broken.
However, the situation was different now. Dolores Umbridge's fragile mind was far from sufficient to support her Patronus against the numerous Dementors, which is why it easily dissipated.
After successfully breaking the protection of the Patronus Charm, the Dementors became extremely excited and crowded around Dolores Umbridge, using their hollow mouths to suck away the last remnants of courage and hope from her heart.
"Expecto Patronum! Expecto Patronum!" Dolores Umbridge raised her Wand and screamed, a faint white light drifting from the tip of her Wand, but it failed to re-form the Patronus from before.
One of the Dementors bravely charged through the white light and approached her. Dolores Umbridge was instantly terrified, and she waved her Wand to retaliate, but the next moment, her Wand was knocked to the ground by the Dementor's withered and decayed hand.
Without her Wand, Dolores Umbridge seemed to have lost her last bit of sanity. She frantically waved her arms, trying to drive away the Dementors with physical means, cursing all the while. "Get away, you dirty bastards, get away from me!"
Not only did Dolores Umbridge's words have no effect, but they also thoroughly enraged these evil creatures. The surrounding Dementors took off their hoods, revealing their horrifying faces.
The nearest Dementor knocked the frenzied Dolores Umbridge to the ground and pressed its face against hers.
Seeing this, Ivan understood that the farce was almost over. Professor Mcgonagall might let Dolores Umbridge receive some punishment due to her dissatisfaction, but she would never let her die here.
Sure enough, Professor Mcgonagall, who had been standing nearby and seemed to be barely able to defend herself against the group of Dementors, finally took the situation seriously.
The light mist surrounding her suddenly expanded several times, sending the nearby Dementors flying!
"Expecto Patronum!" Professor Mcgonagall waved her Wand toward where Dolores Umbridge was, and a beautiful, majestic Tabby Cat leaped out from the tip of her Wand.
A large number of Dementors rushed over, trying to tear the Patronus apart as they had before, but Professor Mcgonagall's spellcasting skills were far superior to Dolores Umbridge's.
The Tabby Cat displayed the power of a mighty tiger, and the approaching Dementors were no match for the Patronus. In a few seconds, they were scattered and fleeing.
The Tabby Cat then sped to Dolores Umbridge and knocked the Dementor that was on top of her away.
"Get away, all of you, get away from me! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Dolores Umbridge rolled on the ground, shouting in a deranged manner.
As the cold sensation gradually faded, Dolores Umbridge opened her eyes in fear and saw that the decaying face was gone, replaced by a majestic Tabby Cat.
Dolores Umbridge finally managed to get up from the ground, trembling as she picked up her fallen Wand, and regained some of her courage.
Then, she looked at Professor Mcgonagall standing nearby, recalling her own embarrassing state, her face turning pale and red in turns.
Dolores Umbridge was highly suspicious that Professor Mcgonagall wanted to see her humiliated. Instead of showing any gratitude, she loudly questioned why Mcgonagall didn't act earlier.
Mcgonagall was so angry that she laughed, just as she was about to retort, a swarm of Dementors surged towards them again. Impatiently, she waved her wand and blasted these creatures away.
Perhaps due to her limited ability, Mcgonagall couldn't drive all the Dementors away and a few slipped through.
These evil beings, having learned from their fellows' fate, now all rushed towards Umbridge.
"Save me, save me!" Umbridge's face turned green as she saw a large group of these rotten, disgusting creatures approaching. She ran frantically towards Mcgonagall.
Mcgonagall raised an eyebrow, dispelled the Dementors chasing Umbridge, and then looked at her, saying:
"You should have seen that my abilities are limited, so I can't be everywhere at once. It's already difficult enough to protect myself!
And didn't you just say they are employees of the Ministry of Magic, very obedient and safe? As a Special Investigator of the Ministry, don't you have the ability to control them?"
Mcgonagall's sarcastic words made Umbridge both angry and furious, but she didn't dare to retort.
Of course, Umbridge could see that Mcgonagall's actions were deliberate. However, they were surrounded by Dementors, and Umbridge was afraid of angering Mcgonagall, so she had to suppress her anger.
Ivan, watching this from high above, found it amusing but also pondered how to end the situation.
He had incited the Dementors to riot to create an opportunity to escape and to make the Ministry of Magic take the Dementors' abnormalities seriously, bringing the conflict to the surface!
He didn't want the Ministry to ignore the Dementors' strange behavior as they had in the original timeline, until these evil creatures joined Voldemort and freed a large number of Death Eaters, making the Ministry regret not taking them seriously earlier.
Now, Ivan could tell from the look of terror on Umbridge's face that she had a deep understanding of the Dementors' horror. He believed that this old woman would likely report the situation to the Ministry when she returned.
However, how to leave the scene was a problem for Ivan. The Dementors were still surrounding the area, and it would be too conspicuous for him to slip away alone.
As Ivan hesitated, he saw several white figures flying from the distant castle, rushing into the black space formed by the Dementors, driving them back in droves.
For a moment, the air was filled with the Dementors' wails, and some of them were scattered and blasted away.
Ivan finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that the commotion had caught the attention of the other professors. Seizing this opportunity to leave, he called out in the midst of the Dementors' encirclement:
"Comrades! Hold on, unity is strength, persistence is victory!"
After shouting, Ivan pretended to be brave and charged towards Mcgonagall's Patronus, then acted as if he was badly injured and flew into the nearby forest, where he transformed back to his original form in an uninhabited spot.
Watching the one-sided battle in the sky, Ivan sighed. It was clear that the Dementors were doomed, but he wondered how the Ministry would handle them.
