Chapter 411: Dementors Shall Never Be Slaves!
Chapter 411: Dementors Shall Never Be Slaves!
After hearing Ivan's desperate cry, countless Dementors gathered around him, circling and inquiring about the situation.
"What happened?"
"I saw you being beaten as soon as I arrived."
"It's the Ministry of Magic's Wizards."
A large number of Dementors congregated, the whistling wind in Ivan's ears turning into intermittent voices.
Faced with the Dementors' questions, Ivan put on an angry face and replied, "Why else? Because of our unauthorized entry into the Quidditch pitch, the Ministry of Magic has sent a Special Investigator to punish us all with the harshest measures!"
Ivan's words caused a stir among the surrounding Dementors, who became very alarmed.
Although they had disregarded the Ministry's rules when they broke the rules, this did not mean the Dementors were not afraid of the Ministry's methods.
On the contrary, they were well aware that they could never be a match for those Wizards.
It was precisely because of this that the Dementors were willing to obey the Ministry's commands. Occasionalloss of control was merely due to their nature of loving chaos and their desire to absorb happiness temporarily overriding their fear of the Ministry.
Seeing these panicked Dementors, Ivan was speechless. If they were so afraid of the Ministry, why didn't they act earlier?
However, to incite some chaos and facilitate his escape, Ivan shouted loudly.
"Quiet down! Please listen to me!"
All the Dementors, who were in a state of confusion and panic, stopped and looked at this unusual fellow. They had never seen a Dementor with such clear thinking, so they all looked at Ivan curiously.
Ivan continued to shout loudly.
"Are we going to keep accepting the Ministry of Magic's oppression? I hope everyone remembers that this was not our fault!"
"The Ministry of Magic has restricted our freedom, forcing us to do meaningless patrol work. Have they considered our feelings? No! They never care about our thoughts and are not even willing to provide us with any food."
"Clearly, it is the Ministry's mistake, yet they do not reflect on it but instead want to punish us with the harshest measures!"
"If we resist, we will be punished! If we do not resist, we will also be punished! Why don't we choose to rise up and resist? Rights are always fought for!"
Seeing the Dementors listening intently, Ivan knew they were captivated by his words. He cleared his throat and continued with passionate fervor.
"I have a dream!
A dream that one day, every Dementor will be able to freely roam the magical world, spreading fear to all beings.
A dream that Wizards, Dementors, House-Elves, and many other intelligent beings will all live in harmony."
"I declare that from today on, Dementors will stand up!"
"Down with beasts, Dementors shall never be slaves!"
Ivan spouted a jumble of slogans and rhetoric he had heard from various sources in his previous life, piecing them together and spouting them to the Dementors.
If this were said to normal Wizards or Muggles, they might have beaten him off the stage.
But these Dementors, with their low intelligence, had never heard such rousing words.
Under Ivan's loud slogans, more and more Dementors recalled the Ministry's treatment of not providing food and making them work for free, becoming extremely angry.
The dense black mist quickly spread across the sky, turning it into a terrifying black expanse.
Although the Dementors' voices sounded like nothing more than a cold breeze to outsiders, Professor Mcgonagall couldn't help but frown as she felt the malice emanating from the sky.
However, Professor Mcgonagall's frown soon relaxed, and she looked at Dolores Umbridge with a playful expression.
She believed that Umbridge would no longer stubbornly insist that these Dementors were harmless creatures that had been tamed.
Noticing that the group of Dementors was approaching with ill intent, Umbridge panicked, deeply regretting her rash actions.
Umbridge took a few hesitant steps backward and shouted with a show of bravado.
"What do you want? I am a senior investigator sent by the Ministry of Magic! Get back to your patrol right now!"
Umbridge tried to scare the Dementors away by invoking her status as a Ministry of Magic investigator.
Unfortunately, under Ivan's persuasion, the surrounding Dementors were either enraged or motivated to fight for their race, and they had no intention of listening to Umbridge.
"Be careful, our target is the short, fat Wizard down there, the one who hit me. Don't attack the other Wizard; he is very powerful and beyond our reach!"
As the instigator, Ivan knew that his combat ability in Dementor form was mediocre, so he had no intention of joining the fight himself. Instead, he hovered in the air, cheering on his "companions" and directing the Dementors to attack Umbridge while avoiding Professor Mcgonagall.
Of course, Ivan wasn't worried about Professor Mcgonagall's safety; he was just reminding the Dementors not to act recklessly.
While the number of evil creatures was significant, for Professor Mcgonagall, they were merely a nuisance to deal with.
However, Ivan wasn't concerned that Professor Mcgonagall would intervene.
He had overheard the conversation between Umbridge and Mcgonagall and knew that Mcgonagall was likely very dissatisfied with Umbridge. She would probably take this opportunity to let Umbridge suffer a bit before considering any rescue.
A dark, wave-like mass of Dementors surged forward, turning the surrounding space into a cage of black mist. There was no sunlight here, only the piercing cold and pain.
Umbridge's expression turned fierce, her wand raised high as she shouted in anger.
"Expecto Patronus! (Patronus Charm)!"
With all her might, a nimble cat leaped from the tip of Umbridge's wand, knocking the nearest Dementor away.
However, the number of Dementors was overwhelming. As soon as one was driven off, several more surrounded her.
Umbridge had to divert some of the Patronus Charm's power to form a shield in front of her and then send the Cat Patronus to attack proactively to barely fend off the Dementors.
But the shield didn't last long and was soon shattered into white mist by the numerous Dementors.
The seemingly powerful Cat Patronus was also torn to pieces by the approaching Dementors.
