Chapter 410: Missing a Son-in-Law
Chapter 410: Missing a Son-in-Law
As he watched the family of three emerge to greet them, Li Qian felt a little out of place for some reason.
"Maybe I should head back now?" he thought, but the idea was fleeting and quickly dismissed.
Li Qian was welcomed into the Governor's Mansion, and as tea was served, the four of them began to chat.
"Tie Lao, are you alright?" Li Qian asked.
Although he appeared unharmed and had greeted them with vigor, Li Qian still inquired about his well-being.
Tie Lao patted his chest confidently, "I'm fine. When the deep-core rift first appeared, there were many beasts, but the two of us combined our efforts, and it wasn't a big problem."
"The two of you?" Li Qian looked at Teacher Han Ke and smiled faintly.
Tie Lao, being straightforward, glanced at Teacher Han Ke and explained, "Yes, as you can see, Teacher Han Ke resigned from the school and joined me as the Governor of Phoenix City."
Li Qian smiled and nodded in agreement, "With two Imperial Beastmasters like you, Phoenix City is as solid as gold."
Tie Lao poured a cup of tea for Li Qian and began to recall the past events, "Actually, we were also lucky this time."
He continued, "If it weren't for Teacher Han Ke's early transfer, the first wave of beasts could have been a problem!"
Li Qian furrowed his brows and asked for more details, "What happened? Tell me more..."
Teacher Han Ke took over the conversation, "During the first wave, there were three Imperial-rank companion beasts, including a Mutant Golden Devourer, a Spirit Phantom Poison Rat, and an Aurora Rat. Especially the Aurora Rat, which was as fast as lightning, making it difficult to defend against its attacks."
Tie Lao shuddered at the memory, "If I were alone, I wouldn't have stood a chance. I'd consider myself lucky to be lying in bed right now."
Li Qian was also concerned for Tie Lao, but soon he laughed and joked, "See, I told you, love brings good luck."
Li Qian studied Tie Lao seriously and then commented, "You're like an old tree blooming, a withered tree coming back to life."
"Pfft!" Yi Linna, standing nearby, couldn't help but laugh at Li Qian's remark.
Tie Lao, rarely embarrassed, glanced at Li Qian, "You know how to describe it..."
After chatting for a while, Li Qian turned to Yi Linna, "Senior Yi, what are you doing here?"
Yi Linna also looked at the two elders, her tone a bit odd, "With something like this happening, as a child, I had to come and see."
"That's true," Li Qian nodded in agreement.
Even though he knew they were safe, he still felt he should visit and check on them.
Li Qian scratched his head, feeling a bit ashamed, "To be honest, I feel embarrassed. I should have come earlier, but I've been immersed in research lately, mostly staying in the Mystic Zone. I only found out about this today at noon and rushed over immediately."
Tie Lao waved his hand, indicating that Li Qian shouldn't worry, "Ah, it's not that big of a deal!"
At that moment, Yi Linna suddenly remembered something, "Li Qian, do you know where this deep-core rift appeared?"
"Where?" Li Qian was taken aback by the question.
Yi Linna kept him in suspense, "You know where."
Almost instantly, Li Qian realized, "That valley!"
Teacher Han Ke frowned, puzzled, "Yes, it's strange. This newly formed deep-core rift appeared in the very valley where the Tidal Sea Spirit evolved."
Such a coincidence, it was hard to explain otherwise.
Yi Linna continued, "Now, a fort has been built in that valley, and in just half a month, it's almost as big as an outpost."
"That's quite a statement!" Li Qian was surprised.
An outpost was equivalent to a small town, and the scale of its construction in such a short time was astonishing.
"Currently, over a thousand adventurers gather there regularly," Yi Linna nodded, also feeling a bit surprised, although she had known about this beforehand.
"With so many people, it could be dangerous if something happens!" Li Qian felt a slight worry at the mention of such a large number.
While he wasn't purely altruistic, he believed in helping within his capabilities.
Previously, during the crisis in Mo Yuan City, Li Qian had assisted the authorities for the same reason.
Tie Lao smiled and assured, "Don't worry, it's not a big issue. With three Imperial-rank companion beasts dead or injured, they won't dare to cause trouble for a while."
Li Qian was intrigued and said, "I'll go and take a look tomorrow."
"I'll come with you," Yi Linna immediately agreed.
Li Qian was taken aback and asked, "Senior Yi, don't you need to go back to school?"
Yi Linna took a sip of tea and replied casually, "I've already graduated. I applied to stay in Phoenix City as a deputy governor a few days ago. I'll be here from now on."
Li Qian suddenly understood and glanced at Tie Lao's new family, nodding in approval, "That's great, a happy family."
Teacher Han Ke suddenly looked at Li Qian and said in a soft voice, "Yes, it's great, but it's still missing something for a perfect family."
Li Qian didn't think much of it and asked subconsciously, "What's missing?"
"A son-in-law!" Teacher Han Ke smiled slightly and glanced at Yi Linna, who was sitting next to Li Qian.
"Cough, cough, cough..." Li Qian coughed uncontrollably at the remark.
He was genuinely surprised by Teacher Han Ke's obvious intention to find a son-in-law, leaving him a bit flustered.
He glanced at Senior Yi Linna, who was indeed very beautiful and charming, especially with her bossy demeanor that made one want to conquer her.
Li Qian looked at Senior Yi Linna again, but she showed no reaction, as if she hadn't heard anything. He quickly dismissed his unusual thoughts.
Senior Yi Linna was much stronger than him, so Li Qian changed the topic, "Tie Lao, Teacher Han Ke, I've been rushing here, and it's getting late. Could you find me a place to rest?"
