Chapter 410: Catching Little Demon Hoopa, Tropical Dragon's Banana!
Chapter 410: Catching Little Demon Hoopa, Tropical Dragon's Banana!
Naoki had learned from his previous experiences, and this time, he made the buns smaller as there were too many Pokemon on the ranch. With the Rainbow Feather of Ho-Oh, he made over twenty buns in one go.
Although it wasn't enough for all the Pokemon on the ranch, it was better than nothing.
He just hoped that Ho-Oh wouldn't be furious upon finding out that its feather was used for making buns...
According to the game settings, players could summon Ho-Oh using the Rainbow Feather, which implied that Ho-Oh might be able to sense the location of its feather.
If that was the case, Ho-Oh might already be aware of what Naoki had done.
Naoki couldn't help but worry if Ho-Oh would come to punish him. But as a chef capable of creating magical dishes, he couldn't resist the temptation when he saw that feather!
"Oh well, if Ho-Oh comes to scold me, I'll just apologize profusely," Naoki thought. Deep down, he actually liked Ho-Oh.
Even though Ho-Oh had left Violet City due to human conflicts, it never truly abandoned humanity. It continued to roam the skies, bestowing the Rainbow Feather upon kind-hearted people.
With these thoughts, Naoki carried the pot of buns and went to find the Pokemon playing in the snow.
First on the list were the three Eevees who had evolved prematurely.
For the Fire Eevee, the sacred buns could enhance the power of the flames within its body.
Although they wouldn't have any effect on the Thunder and Water Eevees, they could help improve their physical constitution, making them stronger as they grew.
The Holy Ash Rice wasn't a joke.
One by one, the three Eevees devoured the buns. The changes in the Thunder and Water Eevees weren't very noticeable, but the Fire Eevee was a different story.
"Eevee?!"
A startled cry echoed, and the Fire Eevee anxiously turned its head around, as strands of golden-red flames uncontrollably shot out from its body.
The Water Eevee beside it was alarmed and immediately opened its mouth, using Water Gun on the burning Fire Eevee.
The flames were extinguished, leaving behind billowing clouds of white smoke.
But before they could catch their breath, another fierce burst of flames erupted.
The Water Eevee wanted to try again, but Naoki quickly stopped it.
"Don't worry, it won't harm the Fire Eevee."
"Eevee?" The Water Eevee paused and stayed by Naoki's side, watching the transformation of its sibling.
The flames on the Fire Eevee burned more intensely, as if a volcano raged within its body.
The Fire Eevee itself felt a surge of power coursing through its veins. The flames in its throat condensed, and as it clenched its jaw, its cheeks puffed up from the immense fire-attribute energy.
Finally, when it could no longer contain the energy, the Fire Eevee let out a determined "Eevee!" and forcefully expelled the flames.
The long flames transformed into a thick fire serpent, melting the snow on the ground with its scorching heat.
The Thunder and Water Eevees stood there, their mouths agape in astonishment.
"Eevee!" So powerful!
The Fire Eevee, on the other hand, was thrilled, its face lit up with excitement.
Seeing this, Naoki guessed that the energy contained in the sacred bun must have ignited the flames within the Fire Eevee, and the eruption was a result of its body not being able to contain the excess power.
However, the transformation seemed to be complete now.
Naoki noticed that the Fire Eevee's originally orange-red fur had darkened, resembling the color of Entei, one of the three Legendary Beasts.
Naoki nodded in satisfaction. With this, the physical deficiencies the three Eevees suffered due to their premature evolution had been remedied.
After bidding farewell to the Eevees, Naoki turned to head toward the World Tree to feed the buns to the three Pokemon of the Big Adventure Squad.
Along the way, he casually tossed a sacred bun to each of the following Pokemon: Golem, Weezing, Pidgeot, Cubone, Jynx, Farfetch'd, and Rhyhorn.
By the time he arrived at the Reversal World, he had only three buns left.
However, he only saw Zapdos, and Moltres and Snorlax were nowhere to be seen.
It was only after Naoki called out that the two missing Pokemon revealed themselves.
One sacred bun each for Moltres, Snorlax, and Zapdos.
"There, all done!"
Having distributed the buns, Naoki rubbed his hands together in contentment.
Since he hadn't seen Moltres and Snorlax in the tree earlier, he asked, "Where were you two just now?"
"Miu!"
Mew seemed to be in a cheerful mood.
It covered its mouth and giggled for a while before using the move, Teleport.
The next second, Naoki felt himself being transported to another place. The emptiness around him was replaced by a wooden room filled with toys.
It was clear that they were now inside the World Tree.
"Miu!" Mew nodded vigorously, its eyes sparkling with excitement. Indeed, this was the secret base of the Big Adventure Squad!
Naoki looked around, taking in the surroundings. "Not bad. I'll make a couple of small beds for you guys and bring them here in a few days so you can sleep comfortably."
"Miu~ miu~"
Hearing this, Mew flew happily around Naoki, its eyes shining with delight.
Teddiursa, equally thrilled, jumped up and down, its face lit up with joy as it exclaimed, "Yimeow!"
Naoki was a man of his word. That afternoon, he crafted two cozy beds for Mew and Teddiursa using the remaining wood from the ranch and delivered them to their secret base.
The two Pokemon were overjoyed and spent the night in their new base, surrounded by their beloved toys and drifting off to sleep peacefully.
Meanwhile, Zapdos perched atop a branch of the World Tree, choosing to sleep there for the night.
With a fixed base and stable resources, the Big Adventure Squad was well on its way to becoming a formidable team.
Having another Pokemon join their ranks, especially one with unique abilities, would further enhance their capabilities.
Naoki's thoughts turned to the powerful Mythical Pokemon, Hoopa, and its ability to warp space with its ring. With Hoopa by their side, traveling long distances, even to far-off regions like Sinnoh, would be a breeze.
If Hoopa joined the Big adventure Squad, it would make Teddiursa's journey so much easier.
However, Hoopa was currently sealed away in the Desert City of the Kalos region...
The next morning, Naoki sought out the Big Adventure Squad and shared the tale of Hoopa with them.
"Long ago, in a desert town called Desert City, a Pokemon named Hoopa appeared before the townspeople."
"Hoopa took some food but then gave the town a lot of money in return, making the town prosper. The people there worshiped it."
"One day, the townspeople wanted to see how powerful Hoopa was, so they asked it to battle other Pokemon. To prove its strength, Hoopa defeated many powerful Pokemon."
"The moves it used were incredibly destructive, and it ended up demolishing the entire town. That's when a human came to Desert City and sealed Hoopa's power, forcing it to live as an ordinary Pokemon."
"Hoopa lost its ability to freely warp through its ring until it understood the meaning of punishment and friendship."
The three Pokemon of the Big Adventure Squad listened intently to Hoopa's story.
When Naoki finished, Teddiursa, looking perplexed, asked, "Yimeow?"
Naoki explained, "Hoopa has a personality similar to yours. It's mischievous and playful, but at its core, it's a kind-hearted Pokemon. If you encounter it on your travels, you can invite Hoopa to join the Big Adventure Squad."
Mew, looking concerned, asked, "Miu?" (But what if it destroys our ranch with its power?)
Naoki reassured them, "That's why you need to help Hoopa understand the meaning of friendship and punishment. Once it learns to control its power, it will be a valuable ally."
However, the prerequisite was for the Big Adventure Squad to encounter Hoopa first.
Teddiursa, always eager to help, pounded its chest and vowed, "Yimeow yimeow!"
It promised to do its best to help Hoopa!
Assisting Pokemon in need was the very reason the Big Adventure Squad was formed!
After bidding farewell to Teddiursa and Mew, Naoki brought a basket of Tree Fruit to the Tropical Dragon.
Although the Grass-type Tropical Dragon could photosynthesize to replenish its energy, it was only fair to provide it with proper food as well.
It wouldn't do to have it go hungry.
The Tropical Dragon's face lit up with joy at the sight of the basket filled with Tree Fruit.
It let out a happy cry of gratitude and then lowered its head to eagerly devour the fruit.
Naoki smiled at the sight, encouraging it, "Go ahead, eat up! There's more where that came from back at the ranch!"
With the help of the Riding Goats' Grass Energy, the Tree Fruit trees on the ranch grew at an astonishing rate, yielding an abundance of large, ripe fruit.
In just three days, the once barren branches would be laden with fruit once more.
Not far away, the Riding Goats munched contentedly on the Grass Dumplings, their coats gleaming with health and vitality.
Naoki felt a sense of satisfaction as he looked at the Pokemon he had nurtured, their robust health a testament to his successful caretaking.
Soon, the Tropical Dragon finished the basket of Tree Fruit. As Naoki prepared to leave with the empty basket, the Tropical Dragon lowered its neck and offered him a banana from its own neck as a token of gratitude.
This time, it offered all five banana fruits from its neck at once.
The Harvest Ability triggered again, and two more bananas reappeared on the Tropical Dragon's chin.
Seeing this, the Tropical Dragon presented these two bananas to Naoki as well.
This time, perhaps due to the cooldown of the Harvest Ability, no more fruit appeared on the dragon's chin.
Even though he had witnessed it before, Naoki still felt a sense of wonder each time he saw the Harvest Ability in action.
He couldn't help but marvel at the wonders of Pokemon.
Naoki looked down at the bananas in the basket.
[Tropical Dragon's Banana Fruit: Freshly plucked from the Tropical Dragon, these fruits are sweet and flavorful, perfect for culinary creations.]
"Thank you, I really like these fruits," Naoki said as he reached out to pat the Tropical Dragon's head.
Then, after bidding farewell to the dragon, he turned and made his way back to the ranch.
"I wonder what effect the Tropical Dragon's bananas will have when used in a dish," he mused.
Full of anticipation, Naoki headed to the kitchen, where he decided to make a warm batch of fried bananas.
First, he peeled the bananas and dipped them in egg liquid before coating them with breadcrumbs.
Next, he heated oil in a pan, and once it was hot enough, he carefully placed the prepared bananas into the sizzling oil.
The oil danced and crackled, and soon, the bananas turned a golden yellow.
Naoki turned off the heat and used chopsticks to transfer the fried bananas onto a white ceramic plate.
[Fried Bananas (C)
: Made by frying the fruits from the Tropical Dragon's neck, this dish has a crispy exterior and a soft interior. The sweetness of the bananas is balanced, making them a delightful treat that's not overly rich.]
Effect: Fruit Ripening, Tropical Dragon exclusive. Significantly increases the growth rate of the Tropical Dragon's fruit after consumption.
Review: As the saying goes, you are what you eat!
"..." Naoki was speechless.
"Did it accelerate the growth of the Tropical Dragon's fruit?" he muttered to himself.
If he recalled correctly, under normal circumstances, the Tropical Dragon's fruit matured twice a year.
Wild Tropical Dragons would disperse pollen in spring and autumn, and by summer and winter, the fruits on their necks would be fully ripe and ready for harvest.
However, compared to other Pokemon, this growth cycle was incredibly slow.
At present, the Tropical Dragon consumed a lot of Tree Fruits daily, and its production couldn't keep up with its consumption.
Naoki wondered how the Tropical Dragon ranch in the Alola region made a profit. Surely they couldn't sell these bananas at a high price?
He didn't think that was likely, as he remembered the Pokedex entry mentioning that the children in the Alola region enjoyed the Tropical Dragon's bananas as snacks.
"I wonder what will happen if I use the fried bananas in a dish," he pondered.
Would it accelerate the growth even further, resulting in three or four harvests a year? Only time would tell.
After a moment of contemplation, Naoki found the Tropical Dragon and fed it the fried bananas, giving the remaining ones to the other Pokemon on the ranch.
During winter, aside from Zach, almost no one ventured out to the countryside, let alone passing trainers.
With no visitors to the ranch, Naoki enjoyed his free time, as there wasn't much farm work to do besides feeding the Pokemon.
As a result, he spent most of his days at home, watching TV, browsing the web, and cuddling with his fluffy Pokemon companions.
Time flew by, and before he knew it, the year 199 of the Pokemon League was coming to an end.
On this particular day, the Rotom Phone, a new invention by the Rotom Tech Company, was finally released to the public.
This compact device, which came with a built-in Pokedex, communication features, and map navigation, caused a sensation worldwide as soon as it hit the market.
Just three days after its release, enthusiastic customers had cleared out the phone inventory in stores everywhere.
Some bought it for work, others as a camera, and there were even parents who purchased it as a gift for their children about to embark on a journey.
Those who missed out on getting their hands on a Rotom Phone could only gaze longingly at the Rotom Tech Company.
Even the company's boss, Nick, was stunned by the overwhelming popularity of the Rotom Phone.
Although he had anticipated a positive response, he never expected it to be this massive.
Facing the disappointed customers who missed out, he could only hold a press conference, assuring them that the company would expedite the production of the next batch of Rotom Phones to ensure everyone could get their hands on one soon.
Meanwhile, internet companies in various regions took note of this innovative portable device.
They began developing apps specifically designed for the Rotom Phone, from communication and social networking to news forums, video websites, live streaming, and mobile games.
A plethora of software options emerged, each vying for a place in the spotlight.
