Chapter 408: How Many Steps Are Needed to Kidnap a Dementor?
Chapter 408: How Many Steps Are Needed to Kidnap a Dementor?
The next afternoon, after the last class,
Ivan avoided the crowd and headed to the Potion Storage Room of the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor.
"Dobby!" Ivan snapped his fingers as usual.
In the next moment, the loyal house-elf appeared before him, holding a sack, and respectfully said,
"Master, the things you asked me to buy!"
"Good, very good. You can go about your business now!" Ivan nodded.
Dobby placed the sack on the table and disappeared from the Room of Requirement on his own.
After Dobby left, Ivan took out a bottle of Basilisk Blood and a specialized Quill from the cabinet, preparing to draw Sealing Runes on the sack.
His mastery of Alchemy not only allowed him to create Magical Artifacts but also temporarily imbue ordinary items with certain properties. In simpler terms, it was a temporary Enchantment.
However, during the process of drawing runes, something containing Magic Power was usually required as a carrier, and the blood of magical creatures was naturally the first choice.
He had collected a large amount of Basilisk blood when he killed the Basilisk last year, and some of it was still left over, which he had not sold. This made his task of drawing runes much easier.
The Basilisk Blood, which contained immense Magic Power, was more than enough to make the Enchantment last for half a month, even when restricting a Dementor. This would give Harry enough time to learn the Patronus Charm.
Drawing runes required much less effort than creating a Magical Artifact, especially for Ivan, whose Alchemy skills had reached level six.
In just a few minutes, complex patterns began to appear on the surface of the sack, the glow of Magic Power gradually becoming visible and then fading away.
Ivan put down the Quill in satisfaction, tidied up the things, rolled up the sack, and stuffed it into his Robe before leaving the Room of Requirement.
He found a secluded spot outside Hogwarts Castle, looked around to make sure no one was around, and then used his blood magic—Boggart Transformation!
The Magic Power within him was instantly activated, surging throughout his body. In the next moment, Ivan felt his body melting and twisting, growing taller, and black mist began to spread around him.
What worried Ivan the most was that his vision was starting to fade, covered by a thick layer of film.
But perhaps due to an incomplete transformation, he still retained some of his vision, although it was blurry, like being extremely nearsighted.
Fortunately, as his vision was affected, his other senses were being amplified, and he gained a special ability to perceive his surroundings without using his eyes.
The world seemed to transform into another form, filled with various colors.
Ivan tried to speak, but what came out was a burst of cold air. His brain felt icy cold, and all his Emotions were suppressed to the extreme. However, this did not affect his normal thinking.
This extraordinary experience was something Ivan had never encountered before, indicating that Dementors were even more special than he had imagined.
While Ivan was adapting to his new body, he vaguely felt something from the castle that was attracting him.
However, when he pulled back the Cloak he was wearing and looked inside, he couldn't see where his feet were. In his blurry vision, the Cloak contained only the Enchanted sack floating in the black mist and a rotting corpse hidden in the mist.
How should one move without legs? By floating, perhaps?
Ivan thought about this, and his body began to drift upwards, seemingly weightless, like a Maple Leaf.
After adapting for a while, Ivan swayed and flew toward the distant Hogwarts Castle. The closer he got, the stronger the attraction he felt.
Under his unique sensory vision, a large amount of colorful, steam-like substances continuously drifted out from various parts of the castle, making Ivan feel quite hungry.
Upon reflection, Ivan quickly guessed the source of these substances. They must be the various Emotions emitted by the students, the most delicious food for Dementors.
"Stop right there!"
Suddenly, a raspy voice rang out, startling Ivan.
He looked around and saw several Dementors floating down from the sky. It seemed the sudden voice was their doing.
The floating Dementors gathered around Ivan, circling him nonstop, making the surrounding air increasingly cold.
Ivan, surrounded in the center, felt very tense. Although the Dementor he transformed into using bloodline magic had similar traits to the original, it was not a real Dementor. Ivan was unsure if his disguise would be exposed.
If he were on the ground, he could easily revert to his original form and use the Patronus Charm to deal with these surrounding Dementors.
However, they were in mid-air, and a fight would be troublesome, possibly alerting the professors and the Ministry of Magic.
As Ivan hesitated, wondering whether to run or strike first, the Dementors around him began to speak in broken sentences.
"Don't get too close, there's a terrifying Wizard below. He's short, wears a Robe, and has Golden Fur."
"Also, beware of the White Unicorn!"
"Terrifying! Very troublesome, don't go down!"
The whistling wind around Ivan automatically translated into these broken phrases.
Understanding their meaning, Ivan breathed a sigh of relief. He realized that the Dementors were kindly warning him not to enter the castle, as it would be troublesome.
But the more he listened, the more he felt something was off. The person the Dementors were describing sounded a lot like himself.
Considering his recent Legendary Title, Ivan became even more certain of this suspicion. He never thought that the Dementors, who represented fear, would actually be afraid of something.
But who among these Dementors had just slandered him by saying he was short?
He was already quite tall compared to other young Wizards his age.
Ivan scanned the area with his nearly blind vision. Every Dementor looked the same, making it impossible to identify the one who had insulted him.
Ivan decided not to bother with these deranged creatures and turned to find a lone Dementor near Hogwarts to capture and take away in a sack.
However, Ivan soon discovered that these Dementors were not willing to let him go so easily. They continued to circle him, even pushing and shoving, trying to force him higher into the sky.
