Chapter 407: Loki's Return
Chapter 407: Loki's Return
"So many this time?"
Mila took the list of raid missions that Rod had brought back.
"Yeah, it's a special time. We need to deal a severe blow to any dark guild causing trouble," Rod replied.
"Then let's post these quickly." Mila took out some paper and began copying the list, turning it into formal mission requests.
"Mila, we need a roasted chicken and a dozen beers upstairs!" Rachel waved from the second floor.
Ever since the guild's reconstruction, the rule prohibiting casual access to the second floor had been abolished. The Guild Master believed that it hindered the guild's operations.
Of course, the S-Class missions posted on the second floor could only be accepted by S-Class Archmages leading a team.
"Got it!" Rod replied on Mila's behalf and went to pour the drinks.
As he climbed the stairs, Wilhelm couldn't help but express his disappointment, "Why did you come? We want to see the waitresses..."
Rod placed the drinks on the table with a thud, "You're not even trying to hide it, are you?"
"How can you blame me? Look at Rachel, Sally, and Ezz. They're wearing the new uniforms," Wilhelm complained, "Except for this opening week, they'll only wear them twice a week. Who wants to see you?"
Wilhelm's excitement made his thoughts audible, so Rod decided to address it directly.
"..." Rod was surprised to learn about this rule but continued to show his disdain.
"Three roasted chickens for the second floor."
A female voice called out, and before Wilhelm could identify who it was, he stared intently, only to straighten up immediately.
Rod recognized the voice and turned around, "Erza?"
"You're back?" Erza's full name, Erza set down her tray and flashed a professional smile at Wilhelm.
"Th-thank you!" Wilhelm's eyes darted around, but his body remained rigid, not daring to move.
Rod was surprised to see her working as a waitress, "You're really on the job?"
"The new uniform is so cute, so I decided to take on this part-time job," Erza twirled, showing off her outfit, "How is it? Mila said that if I work for a week, I get to keep this outfit."
Her regular armor had been damaged by Gerald and was sent for repairs, so taking on a part-time job for a while seemed like a good idea.
Rod suddenly understood, realizing it was Mila's brilliant...idea. He gave her a thumbs up, "It suits you. Keep it up."
To be fair, Erza was indeed beautiful, not any less than Mila.
So Rod decided to go downstairs to keep Mila company.
"Why don't you go check out the backyard?" Mila said while writing, "The pool is open, and Reby, Lucy, and Bisca are having fun there in their swimsuits~"
Rod took some paper and started writing alongside Mila. While she worked from the top of the list, he started from the bottom.
He added, "I'm not interested in swimsuits."
"Really?" Mila didn't believe him, and she knew who had been checking people out recently.
"Yes," Rod nodded, then added, "Unless you're wearing it."
Mila thought for a moment, "Then...should we change the physical training to swimming?"
"Yes!" Rod exclaimed.
Mila rolled her eyes, "You're not going to focus on training, are you?"
She stuffed the copied mission requests into Rod's chest, "Go and post these quickly."
Rod went to the bulletin board and, as expected, found the fixed NPC, Nabu, "Nabu, are you busy?"
"Of course," Nabu replied. For him, standing there and watching the mission requests was considered work.
Rod posted the requests at the highest spot. Raiding dark guilds was no joke, and each one posed a significant threat.
If someone came to accept these missions later, he'd need to remind them to form a proper team.
As Rod returned and saw the beautiful waitresses in their new uniforms, he said, "Should I quit my job as a waiter?"
Mila asked, "Why?"
"We have enough staff now, and I feel out of place among you all."
Mila thought for a moment and then tapped her palm, "I understand. It's because everyone is in uniform, but you're not."
"It's not about that, is it?"
"Why not? Come, try it on?" Mira pulled out a paper bag, clearly prepared in advance.
Rod took out the clothes, a matching red outfit to the one Mira was wearing.
But when he unfolded the clothes, not only the color but also the style was identical.
He held up the skirt and sighed, "Are you sure you want me to wear this?"
"Just try it on," Mira giggled, covering her mouth.
Rod carefully folded the clothes and put them back in the bag, then tapped her forehead with his curled fingers. No way he was trying on this outfit.
Mira instinctively rubbed her forehead, smiling, "Actually, I was planning to order one for you, but I thought it would be better to just get a new suit and act as the 'Manager' here."
"That's a good idea." Rod often handled guild affairs and financial calculations, and after finishing his work, he wanted to find time to read and practice. Being a 'Manager' seemed like a good idea.
This was a formal promotion, and he could check on the guild's operations and give himself a raise... Mira had thought of everything.
The flawless version is available at 69 Book Bar! 6=9+Book_Bar.
"Then I'll discuss it with the Guild Master," Mira said, her eyes curving in a smile. She wanted to arrange this because she felt it suited Rod.
The three of them finished copying and posting the last few tasks.
Cana tore off a newly posted task sheet, "I'll take this one."
"Are you going alone?" Mira asked.
"The Dark Guild only has nine people, right?" Cana replied nonchalantly.
While her strength was sufficient to handle small guilds like this, Mira was concerned that Cana might be at a disadvantage if she got drunk, "It's best to team up with someone, so you have backup."
"When do I have time to find a team? I'm in a hurry to earn money for drinks..." Cana glanced at Rod, "Or should I borrow your boyfriend?"
Rod sighed, "You'll get beaten up if you keep talking like that."
"Will I get beaten up, or will you get beaten up?" Cana joked.
"Stop fooling around. Rod has been busy too, and he needs a good rest," Mira advised, "Think seriously about who to team up with."
Cana looked a bit troubled.
At that moment, a familiar voice called out, "How about teaming up with me?"
They turned to see a handsome guy in a green jacket and glasses waving at them, "Hey! Everyone looks great, and the guild looks completely different."
"Loki?" the three exclaimed in surprise, "Are you feeling better?"
"I'm fine after a little rest in the Celestial Spirit World," Loki said casually, "I was going to deal with my girlfriend's situation, but since Cana has a problem, I can't just stand by."
"But you're Lucy's Celestial Spirit now, right? If I team up with you, will Lucy be able to handle it?" Cana asked.
Loki smiled, "Even as a Celestial Spirit, I'm still a Fairy Tail Archmage."
"Lucy won't have any issues either. I came to the human world using my own magic, so it won't affect Lucy's summoning of other Celestial Spirits."
"Then it's settled." Cana easily accepted this explanation and turned to Mira, "Can I team up with Loki?"
Mira glanced at Rod, who clenched his fist and swung it towards Loki.
Loki effortlessly raised his hand to block it.
Rod increased his strength slightly, but Loki didn't budge, and a golden light began to emanate from his hand.
The two of them stopped, understanding each other's actions.
"You've gone from an Enchantment-Type to an Ability-Type," Rod laughed, "Are you stronger than before?"
Loki smiled, "The previous one was just a mass-produced ring. Now, I should say I've regained my power."
Regarding the time flow in the Celestial Spirit World, I feel it only worked once, and the author doesn't seem to remember it consistently. There's no need to dwell on it.
Like Akinya, who often tells Lucy she wants to take a two-week vacation to travel with her boyfriend. The time difference calculations just don't add up.
