Chapter 407: Cooperation with the Marauders (Third Update)
It turned out that Jerry had spent the first three days in the Magic Card World searching through most of New York's movies, anime, and comics, but found no clues related to the Marvel story.
So, after three days, he decisively returned to the Marvel Main World.
Entering the Mini World again required a one-month cooldown. After the month, he planned to visit the Sorcerer's Apprentice world, which he hadn't been to in a long time, and spend a few days looking for any relevant clues.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice world was currently in the year 2011. If Marvel movies existed there, according to the timeline, a few should have already been released.
He remembered that in his previous life, he was dragged by a colleague to see The Avengers when it was released in 2012.
Of course, there was a high possibility that it would be the same as in the Magic Card World, with nothing to be found.
After all, everything he had thought of so far was just speculation, and there was no concrete evidence to support it.
However, even if none of the three worlds yielded anything, he would pay more attention to this aspect when new Mini Worlds appeared in the future.
"It's time to relax and enjoy this planet's advanced technology and delicious food!"
Putting aside the various speculations in his mind, Jerry spent some time in his room, experiencing what true high technology felt like, before leaving to explore the hotel.
At the same time, Rocket Raccoon, who had escaped from prison twenty-two times, Groot, a member of the Marauders, Star-Lord, and Gamora, the adopted daughter of Mad Titan Thanos, were sent by the Nova Corps to the Kyln Prison, a specialized facility located in an asteroid belt outside Xandar, designed to hold the most dangerous criminals.
A week later, Jerry lay on a luxurious bed made with anti-gravity technology, flipping through the data on nearby planets projected by the room's smart system:
"How can there not be a single planet that meets the criteria?"
During this time, he had gone through all the recorded information about the planets in the Xandar database and found that none of them matched his requirements.
All the planets he could find information on either had not yet developed intelligent life and were being used by the Nova Empire as resource planets, or their civilizations had already advanced to the point where they could leave their planet and interact with other galactic civilizations.
The only civilization that had not yet ventured into space was Earth, and it was specifically noted that it belonged to the Asgardian Realm of the Nine Worlds and could not be entered without permission, or there would be consequences.
This result puzzled Jerry.
No matter how he looked at it, it didn't make sense.
The universe was vast, with countless planets. How could only Earth have intelligent life and still be in a pre-spacefaring stage, while all others either had no intelligent life or had already evolved into spacefaring civilizations?
He concluded that it wasn't that they didn't exist, but that they couldn't be found through normal means.
From his understanding of the Nova Empire over the past few days, the empire's core ideology was universal peace and equality among all intelligent life on different planets.
This meant that if the empire's exploration teams discovered a planet with intelligent life that had not yet developed the ability to leave its planet, they would only record it and not interfere.
Moreover, to prevent these records from being tampered with by any illegal and unscrupulous forces in the universe, they might only be known to the upper echelons of the empire. The general public does not have the authority to access them.
"Perhaps I should go to the black market to look for related information!"
Jerry thought to himself as he turned off the room's smart system.
Since he couldn't find the information through official channels, he would have to explore other avenues.
Even the most advanced civilizations, as long as they have interests and merchants, will inevitably have a black market and unsavory places. Xandar is no exception.
Through his interactions with some of the upper echelons over the past few days, Jerry knew that there were many mercenary groups in the universe, the most famous of which was the Ravagers, a coalition with a hundred factions.
Their base is on Contraxia, where they take on various jobs. As long as you have the money, they can accomplish almost anything.
Besides the large mercenary groups, there are also small teams of bounty hunters, all of whom operate in a similar manner.
Jerry was very wealthy, so he thought that if he couldn't find what he needed through official channels, he could go to Contraxia and pay the Ravagers to help him find a suitable planet.
"Mr. Carmen, your dinner has arrived!"
Just as Jerry was considering whether to leave for Contraxia tomorrow, a stiff, sweet female voice came from the door.
"I don't seem to have ordered dinner?"
Jerry sensed a few familiar presences at the door and raised an eyebrow in surprise.
The female voice paused for a moment before responding:
"This is a complimentary dinner that our hotel has specially prepared for our esteemed guests. Everyone gets one!"
"Alright, then come in."
Jerry didn't press the issue and had the room's smart system open the door with a slight smile.
"Don't shout or make any dangerous moves, we don't want to hurt you!"
As soon as the door opened, a green-skinned woman rushed into the room at top speed, pressing a long knife to Jerry's neck. Right behind her was a small raccoon holding a massive energy gun.
"This gun can turn you into ashes, so you'd better listen to her."
"Beep!"
With a sound, the room's smart system and the smart bracelet on Jerry's wrist both dimmed.
"Alright, it should be safe for now!"
The young man in leather, who had secured a specialized jamming device at the door, also walked over to Jerry's bed.
These three were none other than Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Star-Lord, who had been sent to the Kyln Prison by the Nova Corps.
Seeing the situation, Jerry, lying on the bed, didn't show any signs of nervousness. Instead, he smiled and asked:
"What are you planning to do?"
"Sorry, buddy, we need to take back the Cosmic Orb. Hand it over!"
Star-Lord extended his hand, gesturing for Jerry to hand over the Cosmic Orb.
Jerry, curious, asked:
"Didn't you agree to sell it to me earlier? Why the change of heart?"
"Because someone offered a higher price!"
Star-Lord shrugged.
It turned out that two days ago, Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and a fellow inmate named Drax had escaped from the heavily guarded Kyln Prison.
Gamora mentioned that there was a buyer willing to pay 40 billion for the Cosmic Orb. The five of them decided to secretly infiltrate Xandar and find Jerry to retrieve the Cosmic Orb.
After all, they believed that while Jerry had said he would pay, he couldn't possibly offer 40 billion.
Thus, the current situation arose.
