Chapter 406: Under the Hidden Blade, All Beings Are Equal
Chapter 406: Under the Hidden Blade, All Beings Are Equal
“How did it go? Smoothly?” Hermione asked as Liam returned to their hiding spot.
“Everything went well. I took out Aemicius Carrow. He was probably the strongest of the three Death Eaters.” Liam gave a brief, whispered account of his actions and then asked, “Any new discoveries?”
“The two Death Eaters hiding in the cave have been identified. One is Alecto Carrow, the sister of the Death Eater you just eliminated. The other is Walton Macnair, the Executioner from the Department of Magical Creatures. He’s the one who came to Hogwarts to behead Buckbeak. They take turns guarding the cave entrance.” Hermione reported her observations earnestly.
“And they are extremely cruel.” Hermione’s anger was evident as she continued, “I saw Alecto Carrow using the Cruciatus Curse on the Muggles just for fun.”
“Those hardcore Death Eaters are all the same; they don’t consider Muggles to be human. Our job is to stop their brutality.” Liam raised his telescope and observed the hunched figure sitting at the cave entrance. “This setup is a bit tricky, but not too bad. I’ll get ready, and we’ll make our move at 4:30 AM. I’m worried that if we wait until morning, more Muggles will be harmed.”
With that, Liam pulled out a metal bottle from his Spatial Bag, about the size of a thermos, filled with some kind of liquid.
“What’s that?” Hermione asked, eyeing the bottle.
“It’s an extremely evil Elixir I found in an Apocalyptic World. They call it Jetter. After using this Elixir, the user will feel an intense excitement.” Liam smiled, revealing that this Elixir was the most potent form of the original drug recently seized by the Federation Security Investigation, with a stronger effect but also more severe side effects.
“Excitement?” Hermione instantly understood what Liam was planning and said with a worried tone, “But won’t this harm the innocent? Hagrid mentioned that they had convinced a few Giants to join us.”
“No, it won’t.” Liam looked at Hermione’s face, which was slightly pale from the cold. “The Giants who were more amenable to us have been completely marginalized. I saw a cave in the distance with a few Giants. They are not allowed near the fires or the pots. One of them is just gnawing on moss from the rocks. So, poisoning them won’t affect those Giants.”
Hermione used her telescope to check the cave and indeed saw several massive figures huddled inside.
“What’s your entire plan?” Hermione asked, still holding the telescope. “What do I need to do?”
“I had Little Qing pour this Elixir into the Giants’ large pot. They are about to have a feast, and I noticed that these adult Giants will keep eating as long as there’s food. Once the Elixir takes effect and they start fighting, I expect the two Death Eaters to come out to investigate. That’s when we’ll jump down from the cliff behind them and take them out.”
“Sounds like a good plan,” Hermione whispered. “I hope everything goes smoothly.”
After assigning the task, Little Qing, under Liam’s control, wrapped the bottle and crawled toward the pot in the Giant camp. Meanwhile, Liam and Hermione moved towards the cliff above the cave.
“Once I give the signal, we’ll move together, okay?” Liam asked in a low voice as they reached the top of the cliff.
“No problem,” Hermione nodded lightly and began checking the Hidden Blade on her wrist. These Hidden Blades, made from Mithril and crafted using Alchemy techniques from several worlds, could easily break through the Armor Charms and other protections Wizards hastily cast on themselves. Naturally, such items were extremely expensive and could not be mass-produced.
"Right, and you need to apply this to the Hidden Blade." Liam pulled out two glass vials, each containing a liquid that emitted an eerie blue glow.
"What is this?" Hermione asked as she dipped the tips of both Hidden Blades into one of the vials, watching as the liquid was absorbed, turning the intricate patterns on the blades blue. "Is it poison?"
"Yes." Liam applied the poison to his own Hidden Blades. "This is a toxic agent created by a renowned research institution in an Apocalyptic World using special organisms that developed after being exposed to nuclear radiation. Their Chief Scientist assured me that a single drop could kill an elephant. I'm not sure how Wizards will react to this poison, so I've increased the dosage just to be safe."
After speaking, Liam retrieved two small vials of blood-red Elixirs from his pocket. "Drink this first. It's an Antidote."
They downed the Antidotes and then quietly lay in wait on the cliff. It wasn't long before chaos erupted in the valley below: a few Giants who had drunk the meat broth started pushing and shoving each other, and soon they were brawling with sticks and stones. The fighting quickly spread to the outer areas, drawing more and more Giants into the fray.
The loud noise from the Giant battles caught the attention of Alecto Carrow, who was on duty at the platform by the cave entrance on the hillside. According to Little Qing's reconnaissance, Alecto Carrow quickly entered the cave and then walked out with Walton Macnair onto a small platform jutting out from the mountainside, pointing and gesturing at the Giants below.
Liam immediately nodded to Hermione, and the two of them made their way to the edge of the cliff. Directly below them was the platform where the two Death Eaters stood.
"Move." Liam mouthed the word, and both of them jumped down. Four Hidden Blades sprang from their wrists. The two Death Eaters, sensing the wind, looked up just in time.
It was too late. The Magic defenses they hastily conjured with their wands were as fragile as soap bubbles, easily pierced by the Mithril Hidden Blades on Liam and Hermione's wrists. The blades then simultaneously plunged into the necks of the two Death Eaters, who stared in shock.
The four Hidden Blades cleanly severed the cervical vertebrae of the two Death Eaters, and the poison rapidly destroyed their brains and cardiovascular systems. As Liam and Hermione landed on the platform, the two bodies collapsed like sacks of flour.
"We've saved many innocent lives again." Hermione smiled with satisfaction as she looked at the Muggles in the cages inside the cave, but her smile seemed somewhat out of place against the backdrop of the two bodies at her feet and the violent cries of the battling Giants below.
"Lately, Hermione seems to have changed quite a bit, becoming very different from the Hermione in the original story", Liam thought to himself. "But at least she hasn't forgotten her original intention, she's still the kind-hearted girl, just more aware of the real world and how to change it."
With that, Liam gently wiped the blood from Hermione's face and whispered, "You go and rescue the victims and make sure they're safe. I'll go down and deal with the Giants."
"Okay." Hermione nodded and entered the cave. Liam, after casting a Slow-Fall Charm, jumped down into the valley.
