Chapter 406: This Must Be from Dumbledore!
Chapter 406: This Must Be from Dumbledore!
Fred shamelessly clung to Ivan's leg, pretending to cry and shouting that if Ivan didn't agree, Wood would jump into the Black Lake and drown tomorrow.
"Alright, give me a break. I need some time to think about this!" Ivan was thoroughly annoyed and could only say helplessly.
George, Wood, and the others didn't push too hard. Seeing that Ivan was willing to consider it, they temporarily backed off.
However, before leaving, Wood kept giving Harry hints, urging him to work on Ivan's mindset.
"Sigh, this is such a hassle. I don't have time to play Quidditch", Ivan sighed, his head aching as he returned to the dormitory.
Ron, standing beside him, wore an envious expression. He couldn't understand why Ivan would be troubled by this.
If Wood, George, and the others ever invited him to join the Quidditch team, he would jump for joy, skipping classes if necessary to win the Quidditch Cup. What a great honor that would be!
Ron fantasized about it as he walked into the dormitory. His attention was immediately drawn to a package by the window.
"What's this? Who sent a package? Is it an early Halloween gift?" Ron quickly walked over a few steps.
It was a very beautiful package, about a meter long, wrapped with golden-red ribbons, and a card hung from the bottom, written in black ink: "To Mr. Harry Potter."
"Harry, this looks like it's for you! It's quite strange, and there's no sender's name!" Ron turned around and called out.
Harry was puzzled. Who would send him something at this time, and the packaging looked expensive.
Curious, Harry opened the package and the box. He froze, his eyes fixed on the contents, as if in a trance.
Ron, intrigued by his reaction, glanced into the box and gasped.
A gleaming, exquisitely crafted Broomstick lay inside, its reflection in the sunlight almost blinding.
Ron knew very well that the shine came from the piles of Galleons.
"Am I seeing things? Is that a Firebolt? Who sent it to you?" Ron took a while to recover, swallowing hard before asking.
"How should I know?" Harry was also stunned, feeling a mix of surprise and excitement, and constantly guessing who could have given him such an expensive gift.
The Dursleys? Absolutely not, they hated him enough as it was.
Professor Mcgonagall? His previous Broomstick was a gift from her, but Harry knew she wouldn't likely give him something as extravagant as a Firebolt.
The only one who knew, Ivan, remained silent. He was well aware that the Firebolt was from Sirius Black, but he hadn't expected the gift to arrive so early.
Ivan had thought Sirius would give it as a Christmas gift, or perhaps as a surprise when they met.
Pettigrew, hidden in Ron's pocket, heard the commotion and sneaked out to look.
Although Peter didn't know what a Firebolt was or how valuable it was, he understood from Ron's words that someone had anonymously sent Harry a Broomstick. This made him think, and his heart raced.
Just then, another Owl flew in through the window, its claws gripping a large package that looked identical to the one containing the Firebolt.
However, flying so high while carrying such a large object, even with a weight-reducing charm on the package, was quite taxing for the messenger Owl. It flapped its wings laboriously, swaying as it slowly approached the group.
"This can't be another Firebolt, right?!" Ron stammered.
Ivan was equally surprised. Did Sirius Black accidentally fill out the wrong amount when buying the broomsticks and send two Firebolts to Harry?
"This one seems to be for you, Ivan!" The keen-eyed Harry was the first to see the name on the package and spoke up.
Sure enough, the Owl dropped the package in front of Ivan and then flew away.
Ivan was thoroughly puzzled as he opened the package. Unlike Harry's, this box contained not only a Firebolt but also a letter.
Ivan opened the envelope and read it, finally understanding that this Firebolt was a gift from Sirius Black to thank him for all the help he had provided.
According to Sirius Black, since he was already buying a Firebolt for Harry, he didn't mind buying an extra one.
In the letter, Sirius Black also asked if he liked the broomstick as a gift and mentioned that if he wasn't interested in Quidditch, he could send something else next time.
After reading the entire letter, Ivan was shocked by Sirius Black's generosity. To be able to say "I don't mind buying an extra one" about something as expensive as a Firebolt was truly remarkable.
Harry and Ron leaned in to see the contents of the envelope, but Ivan quickly tucked it away.
Although the letter only mentioned his gratitude and didn't reveal too many details, a smart and well-informed reader might be able to guess something, especially considering how wealthy and closely connected to Harry the sender was.
"There aren't many people who are both rich and have a connection to Harry", Ivan thought to himself.
"Ivan, who sent these packages?" Harry asked, feeling both excited and uneasy about receiving a Firebolt out of the blue. He wanted to understand what was going on.
"Yeah, what did the letter say?" Ron was also very curious.
Ivan glanced at Scabbers, who was rummaging through Ron's pocket and eavesdropping, and then spoke.
"This letter is from Professor Dumbledore. He learned that Harry accidentally fell from the air while playing and broke his broomstick. He's very concerned about Harry's safety.
Additionally, the professor knows that Harry has been troubled by the Dementors recently, so he sent this Firebolt to help Harry cheer up!"
Ivan put on a thoughtful expression, almost convincing himself as he spoke.
There was no other way to explain it, given that Sirius Black had spontaneously bought two Firebolts and insisted on sending a letter.
Initially, Ivan had considered saying the gift was from Lupin, as it would have been easier to cover up. However, Lupin was known for his poverty, even wearing patched clothes, making it impossible for him to afford a Firebolt. Thus, the only person who could easily afford two Firebolts was Dumbledore.
Only Dumbledore could casually come up with so many Galleons to buy two Firebolts.
