Chapter 405: The Encounter
Chapter 405: The Encounter
The Federation has existed for over six hundred years, and the era of chaos lasted more than a thousand years, so Tak has lived for over two thousand years.
To ordinary people, two thousand years is a vast expanse of time.
However, for an immortal deity, two millennia is barely a long period.
Tak strolled with his hands clasped behind his back, his ancient robes billowing in the strong wind as he walked down the wide asphalt road.
"The legendary Wizard, the mysterious Time Traveler, the one who pushed the Gods to their fall, Mr. Carl Bergman."
His voice carried a hint of mystery as he spoke,
"We finally meet."
"Thunder Lance, Imperial Blade, Godslayer Warlord." Carl looked at him, his eyes growing serious:
"Do you intend to kill me?"
"No!" Tak shook his head and looked down at his hands:
"I know nothing else; all I know is how to take lives."
"Speaking of which, I should be thanking you. You helped Iyetta fulfill her father's dream."
"Iyetta?" Carl's eyes flickered:
"Your wife?"
"Yes."
Tak nodded:
"The third daughter of Rukh Gangro, the jewel of the Colonnian Empire, and the wife of my Thunder Lance."
Rukh Gangro was the Federation's first president.
He was also the first to be cursed by the Gods, becoming a blood clan, essentially the progenitor of all blood clans.
And Iyetta was his daughter.
"I've heard your story." Carl smiled:
"You defied the odds to become a legendary knight, earned the hand of Iyetta, and received the support of the Colonnian royalty."
"Later, her breath..."
"You became a Sacred Knight, a Godslayer Knight, renowned as the sharpest spear of the Colonnian Kingdom."
"Yes!" Tak's eyes lit up with nostalgia, and his entire being seemed to come alive as he reminisced:
"I didn't marry Iyetta for love, but through her, I learned what love truly is."
"Because of him, I am who I am today."
Carl appeared thoughtful.
In his mind and the history books, Thunder Lance Tak was often criticized.
Born in Gondor, Tak had rebelled multiple times to achieve his goals and showed little regard for the Knight's Code.
History portrayed him as a petty man who would stop at nothing to achieve his ends.
However,
Born into poverty, Tak never felt obligated to pledge loyalty to anyone; his allegiance was to himself.
Or,
Perhaps, later, to Iyetta.
Thunder Lance Tak was also the only one of humble origins to successfully slay a God.
In his own words: "I am loyal only to my heart, not to rules, upbringing, or blood..."
Why can't a lowly peasant become a noble knight?
Why must a lord demand loyalty?
Why can't a mortal slay a God?
He proved them wrong!
Amidst scorn, curses, and anger, he climbed to the pinnacle, surviving to this very day.
He even helped elevate many of his fellow commoners to nobility.
"Your Godslayer Spear enabled me to slay a God and ascend to the Fourth Tier." Tak turned to face Carl, his expression grave:
"Thank you!"
"Don't thank me. I merely made a deal with someone else. Your success is a testament to your abilities." Carl shook his head:
"Regardless of how the world may belittle you, Thunder Lance Tak ultimately fulfilled his promise."
"To ensure that the poor are no longer looked down upon."
"Haha..." Tak laughed heartily, his laughter echoing like thunder, yet those around him seemed unaffected.
"Few can make me feel like a potential friend within moments of meeting, and you are one of them."
"Let's get formally acquainted."
"Tak, husband of Iyetta."
"Carl." Carl introduced himself:
"A Wizard."
"Carl." Tak nodded:
"The Temple of the Gods, the Federation, and the Night Watch Order have located the Blood Alliance Base and demand that we hand over the Son of Destruction."
"I have no choice but to seek you out."
"The Son of Destruction is not in my possession," Karl shook his head. "I'm sorry."
"There's no need for wordplay. While he's not with me, you know who he is and where he is." Tak spoke.
"Tell me."
Karl raised an eyebrow.
It had to be said that even after living for over two thousand years, Tak still possessed the intuition of a true warrior.
And a sharpness that cut straight to the heart of the matter.
He didn't need to hear Karl's so-called explanations; he only needed to achieve his goal.
"What if I refuse to tell?"
"Clang!"
A long spear appeared in Tak's hand, and his response was equally straightforward: "Then let's fight!"
Karl made a grasping motion with one hand, and the space they occupied instantly separated from the mortal realm, becoming an independent existence.
The void was vast, and the two of them stood within it.
"Manipulation of space and time," Tak exclaimed in awe.
"No wonder you're a legendary wizard. I've only seen this ability among the six High Deities."
Space and time,
Not just space, but also time.
And to twist them so effortlessly, it seemed only a Mid Deity who governed the rules of space and time could achieve such a feat.
"We don't need to fight."
Karl held his staff and shrugged lightly.
"The purpose of the Vampire Clan's existence is to resist the Gods, and the Son of Destruction is crucial to the Twilight of the Gods."
"And..."
"Do you think the Gods outside will spare this world if you hand over the Son of Destruction?"
"Karl." Tak raised his spear slightly and spoke softly.
"I'm just a warrior; I don't understand grand logic, nor do I want to. There's only one way to convince me."
"Defeat me!"
"Buzz..."
As soon as he finished speaking, the spear in his hand trembled, and the void they were in began to shake violently.
Using his ability to stretch space, Karl created a distance of a thousand meters between them, but the spear suddenly appeared in front of him.
The sharp spear glinted with a cold light, aiming straight for his heart.
"Retreat!"
Karl commanded.
Instantly,
The space they occupied was rapidly stretched, a hundred meters, a thousand meters, ten thousand meters, and even tens of thousands of miles...
This was the domain of the Gods!
Karl was indeed a Warlord, but he had devoured and refined an unknown number of Divine Flames, comprehending countless laws.
Stretching space was just the simplest of his abilities.
Tak's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes gleamed with a faint light. The spear appeared before Karl once more.
Space,
Seemed to have no effect on him.
Hmm? Karl raised an eyebrow slightly and spoke another 'mantra'.
"Slow!"
This time,
As the space continued to stretch, the flow of time around Tak also began to slow down, almost coming to a complete halt.
Conversely,
The flow of time around Karl accelerated.
With one fast and one slow, he gained an infinite number of choices.
"Fire!"
Karl waved his staff lightly, and a tiny spark shot out from its tip, instantly igniting into a blaze.
In Tak's perception, the spark became a blazing sun, devouring all in its path.
There was nowhere to hide, no escape.
"Clang!"
The spear trembled again.
The piercing force of the spear ignored the barriers of space, time, and flames, appearing before Karl once more.
And,
It grazed his clothing.
"My Knight's Path is pure of heart, pure in soul, and one and only."
Tak's brows furrowed:
"Unshaken by external forces."
"Break!"
"Boom!"
Terrifying energy erupted from the spear's tip, shattering space and flames alike under its force.
