Chapter 404: Tak, the Thunder Lance
Chapter 404: Tak, the Thunder Lance
Remiller transformed into a white dove, her ethereal form gliding gracefully across the skies of the Eastern Kingdom Continent. As a former messenger of the gods, she possessed the theoretical speed of this land.
None could match her swiftness. It was a rule that came with being a deity, and Remiller's domain was the pinnacle of speed.
But her abilities didn't stop there. She could also perceive things beyond the reach of ordinary beings.
This included the gazes of the gods from the Foreign Deity and Celestial Plane, as well as the divine punishments attempting to breach the barriers.
With a gentle flap of her wings, Remiller materialized into her human form.
"Old friend," she said, turning her head to the void and bowing slightly. "It's been nearly four hundred years since we last met. You've finally decided to leave that place."
"The scent of death is stronger than ever, and I'm curious," a shadowy figure holding a massive scythe appeared in mid-air, their cold eyes fixed on Remiller. "Have you found him?"
"No," Remiller shook her head in dismay. "Not even a clue."
"The Son of Destruction..." The shadow whispered, "He's connected to the Vampire Clan."
"Yes," Remiller nodded. "The first Night Watchman, a powerful Tier 5 entity with the ability to discern truth from illusion, visited the Vampire Clan's temple, but even their elders were unaware."
"You know they can't hide anything from that Night Watchman," the shadow continued.
The Night Watch Order, with its official and military backing, stood as a Beyond Mortal force alongside the Temple of the Gods and the Blood Alliance, subtly surpassing them all. Its deep roots and traditions were evident.
The first Night Watchman, a mysterious Tier 5 entity known as the Eye of Insight, possessed a unique ability to differentiate between reality and illusion.
"Unawareness doesn't imply irrelevance," the shadow added.
"The Vampire Clan must pay the price."
Remiller raised an eyebrow, questioning.
"Are you planning to take advantage of the situation and strike the Vampire Clan's strength is still a far cry."
"Hel, the Vampire Clan has a Godslayer and a Thunder Lance. I'm not a Tier 5 entity suited for combat."
"This is our chance," Hel, one of the top three in the Temple of the Gods, spoke in a cold tone. "The Night Watch will aid us."
"After all, it was the Vampire Clan that attracted divine punishment, and the means left by the gods protect this land. They know which side to choose."
Remiller contemplated, aware of the deep-seated hatred between Hel and the Blood Devourer of the Blood Alliance. Their conflict was unending.
This was indeed an opportunity to exterminate the Vampire Clan.
However, with divine punishment looming and the potential for all life to fall into ruin, it was crucial to unite all possible forces.
"Hel," Remiller sighed. "Must it be this way?"
"You don't have to participate," Hel took a step back, her body merging with the darkness, only her voice echoing, "Just as you chose to retreat when the world fell into chaos, no one could catch up to you."
"Alright," Remiller's face showed resignation. "But before we take action, we should give each other a chance."
"A chance?" Hel asked.
"Unless they hand over the Son of Destruction."

Carl sat at a table, flipping through a book page by page, while Riley sat across from him, sipping coffee.
"The world is changing so fast. In just two months, everything has become so unfamiliar," Carl remarked.
They were in the library of the academy, on the fourth floor, overlooking the students below.
Unlike a few months ago, many students had changed their majors, and the once unpopular subjects of archaeology and theology had become popular.
"Two months ago, ancient fossils were discovered in the Xueshan Mountains, including the remains of ancient giants over thirty feet tall," Riley explained.
"A month ago, a mirage appeared above the city of Diluo Cui, and hundreds of terrifying creatures emerged, including an eight-headed demon wolf that killed over a thousand people."
"A few days ago, in the underground cave ruins..."
"Alas!"
She heaved a soft sigh. "How did things turn out like this?"
The Night Watch unveiled various inexplicable phenomena and beings that defied scientific explanation, sparking a frenzy among the populace.
Mysticism, theology, and the existence of Beyond Mortal powers gradually became common knowledge.
As the first university to embrace advanced knowledge, Cloud Shield University took the lead in implementing changes, even offering courses on Beyond Mortal abilities.
The changes were indeed significant.
"Have you ever thought that perhaps the world has always been this way, and we just didn't know it before?" Karl looked up. "Don't worry; let's live our lives as we always have."
"That's probably impossible," Riley shook her head. "During this time, there have been too many disappearances and deaths. It's said that there are three streets in the city that devour people at specific times. If you walk into them at the wrong moment, you'll vanish, but no one knows which streets or when."
"Perhaps..."
"I might disappear one day, just like Blaze and Monica."
"You're under a lot of pressure," Karl spoke up. "This isn't good."
"I understand," Riley sighed. "But there's nothing we can do."

"Oh, by the way."
She glanced at the book in Karl's hand and said, "I heard that the library has a strange book. Anyone who reads it will become a part of the story, and others won't even know they've disappeared. So, it's best to avoid reading books for a while."
"If no one knows about the missing people, how can anyone know about this book?" Karl closed the book. "You're overthinking it."
"Maybe."
Riley shrugged.
She didn't dwell on it, but that book did exist. It was a Divine Punishment that pulled living beings into another dimension.
Initially, the book was to be distributed to various places, and everyone who read it would fall into the story within.
Until...
This world would have no one who could read or pass down wisdom.
But now, that book was right there in Karl's hands, and analyzing the Divine Punishment could provide him with valuable insights.
"Professor Karl,"
At that moment,
A student rushed upstairs and said, "Someone is looking for you downstairs."
"Oh!"
Karl raised an eyebrow.
"Me?"
How could that be? He was a Fifth Tier Deity and an Ancient Knight; even the mere mention of his name was enough to create a sensation.
Yet, someone had sought him out.
He straightened his clothes and, leaning on his staff, made his way downstairs to the library entrance, where he encountered the person who had been waiting.
The man was strikingly handsome, his features chiseled like a perfect stone sculpture.
His physique was the epitome of perfection.
Even his demeanor was flawless, leaving no room for criticism.
Women passing by couldn't help but stop and stare, reluctant to move their gaze for quite some time, and soon a crowd had gathered.
"Professor Karl."
Seeing Karl approach, the man placed one hand on his chest and leaned forward slightly, performing an ancient gesture of respect. "We meet again."
"It's you, Thunder Lance Tak." Karl sighed.
"I don't recall ever meeting you."
"Signo City," Tak began. "I had only recently been exposed to warfare, and you were just an unremarkable Wizard's apprentice."
They had once glanced at each other from a distance, neither paying much attention at the time. Little did they know they would cross paths again after so many years.
Their identities,
Were now worlds apart.
