Chapter 403: Shaking the New World!
Chapter 403: Shaking the New World!
Feng Ye didn't elaborate further. A simple mention was enough to change the future, like a fluttering butterfly that could stir up a storm on the other side of the ocean.
"Come on, another round!" Whitebeard raised his bowl of wine towards Feng Ye, his mouth curved in a grin.
He had taken to heart Feng Ye's earlier words about how he wouldn't stand a chance in a fight against him. However, when it came to drinking, as a man, he would never admit defeat. Moreover, from Feng Ye's demeanor, he didn't think the latter's alcohol tolerance could surpass his own.
"Sure," Feng Ye readily agreed.
The banquet continued deep into the night. Feng Ye chatted with the members of Whitebeard's pirate crew, mostly listening to Whitebeard, Marco, and the others recount their adventures and experiences at sea.
Not just him, but Robin, too, was engrossed in their tales. As a pirate crew standing at the pinnacle of the vast ocean, their stories and encounters were enough to fill thick volumes.
"Gulp...I never thought I'd lose to you in a drinking contest as well..." Whitebeard held an empty bowl, his expression uncertain—happy or resigned. Then, he leaned back and fell asleep, snoring loudly.
Most of the Whitebeard Pirates were already sprawled across the ground, drunk.
Marco, Diamond Jozu, and the others were fast asleep, snoring loudly.
"Let's go," Feng Ye said as he stood up and gently brushed off the sand from his clothes.
Robin quietly rose to follow him, falling into step behind him as they headed into the distance.
Not everyone was drunk, though.
There was one person who hadn't passed out or fallen asleep. He had feigned sleep, but in reality, he had remained alert and conscious.
It was Blackbeard, Marshall D. Teach! He had been observing Feng Ye's retreating figure.
He had overheard Feng Ye's warning to Whitebeard, and although Feng Ye hadn't directly mentioned him or anything else, he was exceptionally sensitive to anything related to Devil Fruits.
"Devil Fruit... Could it be the Yami Yami no Mi?" Blackbeard narrowed his eyes, leaving only a thin slit open.
The implication that a Devil Fruit could put one's family in danger meant that it must be incredibly important. Important enough to cause a stir even in Whitebeard's pirate crew. If this were true, it was most likely the Yami Yami no Mi that he had always coveted!
As Blackbeard's mind raced with these thoughts, his breath suddenly hitched. He had seen Feng Ye, who was walking away with Robin, turn his head slightly and glance in his direction.
"!!!"
Blackbeard was certain that glance was directed at him! In that moment of eye contact, Blackbeard felt his heart skip a beat. It was as if, in an instant, his entire body had been submerged in ice-cold water.
It froze his breath, made his eyelids flutter, and caused his whole body to tremble. He wanted to jump up and flee, but his body was stiff and uncooperative.
However...
Feng Ye didn't make any overt moves.
He merely used his profound gaze to look at Blackbeard from a distance before turning away and continuing on his path.
"What is it?" Robin followed Feng Ye's gaze but saw nothing amiss, only the drunken members of the Whitebeard Pirates lying on the ground.
Feng Ye didn't pause in his steps and replied, "It's nothing. I just caught a glimpse of the future. If you want, I can tell you about it."
Feng Ye and Robin walked further and further away until they eventually disappeared into the darkness.
It wasn't until Feng Ye's figure was completely out of sight that Blackbeard, still lying on the ground, exhaled sharply. He felt his clothes drenched in cold sweat!
Terrifying! A kind of terror he had never experienced before! He hadn't felt this way around Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, "Gold Lion" Shiki, or even the Navy hero, Monkey D. Garp. Especially that one glance earlier—it had made him feel as if he had died in an instant!
Blackbeard sat up, breathing heavily, his eyes fixed on the direction Feng Ye had left. Fear was evident in his eyes.
At least, not the him of the present; he's absolutely not someone to provoke right now!
"Ugh... What's wrong with you, Teach?"
A drunken executive of the Whitebeard Pirates, lying beside Blackbeard, noticed his abnormal behavior and mumbled with his eyes barely open.
Blackbeard struggled to calm the violent turmoil in his heart and replied, "It's... nothing. I just had a nightmare..."
...
The next day.
On the shore of the Toxic Cherry Blossom Island.
"This is the sea chart of the New World. Although the locations might not be entirely accurate, the islands are arranged according to the Log Pose, and the directions are mostly approximate. With the Log Pose, you should be able to reach all the islands marked on the sea chart."
Marco stood on the deck of Feng Ye's ship, holding a rolled-up sea chart in his hand. He smiled and said, "Some sea areas have tricky climates, but they shouldn't be a problem for you."
"Thank you," Feng Ye said, smiling at Marco before taking the sea chart from him.
He unrolled it and quickly spotted the names of many familiar islands—Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, Zou, Wano Country...
There weren't many islands in the New World, and the sea chart marked no more than a hundred of them. They were connected by arrows, and although it looked a bit chaotic, with the Log Pose, one could reach most of the islands except for the more unique ones like Zou.
"Don't mention it. It was a small matter."
Marco smiled at Feng Ye and said, "Then I'll be taking my leave."
Feng Ye nodded and put away the sea chart. As Marco took to the skies, Feng Ye called out, "Please send my regards to Whitebeard, and farewell until we meet again."
After seeing Marco off, Feng Ye headed into the cabin with the sea chart in hand and ordered the ship to set sail. The anchor retracted by itself, the ropes swayed, and the sails dropped.
The ship soon departed from Toxic Cherry Blossom Island and continued sailing into the depths of the New World.
...
Although Toxic Cherry Blossom Island was sparsely populated, the events that transpired there quickly spread across the vast ocean.
The total bounty of the John Pirates, which exceeded 4 billion berries—
Annihilated!
When this news reached the far corners of the sea, it sent shockwaves throughout the New World!
As one of the pirate crews traversing the New World, the John Pirates were not at the very pinnacle, but they were still a formidable force with nearly ten subordinate crews under their command, making them a significant power.
But now,
The entire John Pirates, including Captain John himself, had been wiped out!
Upon receiving this intelligence, the major powers immediately dispatched agents to gather more information. The first revelation shocked countless individuals—the Whitebeard Pirates had been stationed on Toxic Cherry Blossom Island.
Initially, it was assumed that the Whitebeard Pirates were responsible for the annihilation. However, further intelligence revealed something even more startling—the Whitebeard Pirates had not lifted a finger! The sole destroyer of the entire John Pirates was
a single man—the man known as the closest to a god in the vast ocean, the traveler Feng Ye!
After obliterating the sacred ground of Mariejois, Feng Ye had disappeared for a time. Now, he had reappeared in the second half of the Grand Line—the New World!
And by obliterating the John Pirates, he had announced his arrival in this new sea!
This news sent shockwaves through the countless powers of the New World!
