Chapter 403: Burn Bottle Bar
Chapter 403: Burn Bottle Bar
After returning to the Wu Yi Academy, Chen Chuan decided to take a few days to relax. He didn't plan to move into the manor just yet, as everything he needed was readily available at Wu Yi.
Especially the companionship of Hong Fu during training, something he wouldn't find elsewhere. This kind of service was only available at Wu Yi, and once he left, he wouldn't be able to enjoy it unless he became a teacher at the academy.
So he thought that after completing his studies, he might aim for a teaching position at the academy. It seemed challenging for now, but he decided not to worry about it for the time being.
After taking some time to relax, he had a good night's sleep. The next day, he realized that during his sleep, he had once again experienced the memories of his parents, left for him in his past life.
He recalled that in the memory, he was practicing a familiar boxing technique, the very same Zheng San Shou he often used in his previous life.
However, the feeling of executing the moves was different; it was gentle yet powerful, with seamless transitions and bursts of strength where needed. It was clear that he had reached a certain level of proficiency.
This was likely his mother in his past life practicing the boxing technique, and judging by the intensity of her strikes, she seemed to be at the second limit.
These memories didn't seem to follow a chronological order but rather jumped around. This particular memory seemed to be from before he met that woman, and his mother in this memory looked to be around eighteen or nineteen years old.
Typically, graduates from Wu Yi Academy, even those of the highest caliber, would reach this limit. Even the recommended students rarely exceeded this level.
But Chen Chuan had a strange feeling that these memories were specifically left for him to see, as if they were... teaching him the boxing technique? Although his current limit far surpassed this level, he couldn't deny that going through the motions was still inspiring, especially as each move contained a spirit of unyielding determination and an aspiration for the infinite. It was truly worth savoring.
As he immersed himself in this experience, he became so absorbed that he forgot about everything else, fully engrossed in the moment. When he finally snapped out of it, he realized he had unconsciously followed along with the boxing technique.
At that moment, he couldn't help but think that if he had access to these memory-enhancing drugs before attending Wu Yi, he might have been able to directly experience and quickly master these techniques.
He had previously searched for such memory-enhancing drugs, but they seemed non-existent in the market. This likely meant they were extremely rare or had specific requirements, or else they would have already flooded the market within Wu Yi and various government agencies.
As he pondered this, his perspective shifted to a woman in her early twenties, with a single ponytail that reached down to her heels. She had a valiant and robust appearance.
This woman had been watching him practice from a distance earlier, and while she seemed fine from afar, up close, he realized she was exceptionally tall, forcing him to look up to speak with her.
Based on his memory's comparison with other objects, this woman was at least 2.2 meters tall, perhaps even taller, but with a well-proportioned body, which made her height less noticeable from a distance.
As he approached her, he could clearly sense the powerful strength in her limbs and the vibrant life force emanating from her body.
He thought for a moment, recognizing her as the teacher of his past life's mother. They seemed to have a good teacher-student relationship.
In his opinion, his mother in the memory had already mastered the boxing technique quite well, but this teacher seemed dissatisfied and proceeded to point out several key aspects on the spot, focusing on transitions and the application of force.
Chen Chuan listened intently, comparing her instructions with his previous practice, deep in thought.
From his perspective, these minor details seemed optional, something he could pay attention to or ignore, as in actual combat, only a few critical moves would be used. As long as he perfected those, it should be sufficient.
However, these pointers weren't about increasing combat power but rather ensuring a smoother and more continuous flow of energy. He could sense a feeling of leaving no "gaps" in the process.
The concept of "gaps" was difficult to describe; it was about ensuring the fighter's energy flow was seamless, leaving no openings for the opponent to exploit.
In reality, no one could achieve absolute perfection, so this was more about one's commitment to the art.
This seemed to be a martial philosophy that required long-term dedication, and it might take an extremely long time to see results, if ever.
He realized that this might be a specific martial arts style, teaching genuine skills.
However, since these techniques didn't involve core secrets, sharing them wouldn't be an issue. In fact, if someone learned them, it would likely be welcomed by the style's practitioners, as their philosophy would spread.
"Quite interesting," he thought.
Chen Chuan felt that these insights were also inspiring for him. He vaguely sensed that a true fighter, regardless of strength, seemed to possess their own unique beliefs.
This might be a form of perseverance or perhaps a necessary countermeasure against certain opponents. Moreover, even if it didn't provide immediate benefits, it might lead to the development of unique techniques aligned with one's beliefs when reaching a deeper level of practice.
At this point, the memory ended.
Action: Chen Chuan stood up after reminiscing, went to freshen up, and then searched for a specific location on his Boundary Vessel.
This was the address that Lu Ke had left with Nian Fu Li. After the holiday break, he hadn't had time to visit, but now he could finally go.
Moreover, he was unsure about the progress of Yu Gang's implant restoration. If there was a need, he was confident in his ability to help.
Changing into casual attire, he left Wu Yi Academy in his Goad Car, following the address he found on the Boundary Vessel.
The location was on the outskirts of Hong Sheng District, near an oil refinery. After driving for over half an hour, he arrived at a spacious street and found the address he was looking for—a bar called "Burn Bottle Bar." The sign was distinctive, featuring a giant bottle continuously dripping with alcohol or oil.
Through the Boundary Vessel's vision, the liquid seemed to splash beneath his feet, creating a colorful glow like raindrops in a neon-lit night. The liquid formed a fiery ring on the ground in front of the bar, adding a dramatic touch.
Chen Chuan stepped over the fiery ring and entered the bar, causing the flames behind him to flare up momentarily, creating a striking effect.
Inside, he surveyed the surroundings. The interior was a mix of various styles, with exposed pipes above, metal coils wrapped around them, colorful graffiti covering the brick walls, and long strips of lights on the floor, occasionally flashing with a passing glow.
The space was quite large, capable of accommodating over a hundred people. Even during the day, there were several tables occupied by customers.
Using his Boundary Vessel, he observed that most customers had temporary residence permits or lacked identification altogether. They wore numerous cheap and second-hand implants, but none had wanted statuses. It seemed the bar owner was well-connected and maintained a certain level of order.
The customers, who had been chatting freely, unconsciously lowered their voices upon seeing Chen Chuan enter.
Despite Chen Chuan's attempts to conceal his aura and his casual attire, his height and gait immediately marked him as a fighter, exuding a powerful presence.
He walked straight to the bar, where a robust man in his fifties was tending. The bartender maintained a natural expression and asked, "What can I get for you, sir?"
Chen Chuan didn't drink alcohol, but he slid a bill across the counter and casually ordered a drink. "I'm looking for 'Mr. Kangaroo.' A friend left me an address, saying I could find him here and ask him to guide me."
The bartender glanced at Chen Chuan and smiled warmly. "You must be Mr. Chen, right?"
"Yes, that's me," Chen Chuan confirmed.
The bartender laughed heartily. "I knew it was you at first sight. Lu Ke mentioned that a handsome young man like you might come looking for him. He asked me to keep an eye out."
"Call me Old Zhan. Have a seat, young man. I'll attend to a few regular customers first, then I'll take you there."
Chen Chuan acknowledged with a nod.
Old Zhan, noticing that Chen Chuan hadn't touched the drink on the bar, discreetly replaced it with a hot beverage. He then approached a few tables of regular customers, found a smart young man to take over, and put on a hat, saying, "Let's go." He asked, "Did you drive here yourself?"
Chen Chuan nodded.
Old Zhan suggested, "It's not convenient to drive to that place. Why don't you ride with me?" Seeing no objection from Chen Chuan, he added, "Wait for me here for a moment." He turned and walked out. After a while, an old Goad Car emerged, and Old Zhan poked his head out, saying, "Mr. Chen, hop in."
Chen Chuan walked over and opened the door to get in.
"Don't worry about your car; no one dares to steal from Burn Bottle Bar's customers around here," Old Zhan assured as he steered the car out. "Mr. Chen, have you been to the real Lower City before?"
Chen Chuan understood he was referring to the actual Lower City, not the area where people without identification gathered. "I haven't been there before."
"I heard from Lu Ke that you're not only friends but also used to train with Mr. Yu?"
"Are you well-acquainted with Lu Ke?" Chen Chuan asked.
Old Zhan replied, "My bar often relies on the support of Road Connect Logistics. There's an experienced security captain among the staff, a disciple of Mr. Yu. She frequently brings her team here for drinks, and sometimes she comes with Lu Ke. We're quite familiar."
"Mr. Yu did teach me, so I can consider myself his student," Chen Chuan confirmed.
"Then you're one of us," Old Zhan said with increased enthusiasm. As they chatted along the way, they drove for about ten minutes and reached the entrance to a tunnel.
Old Zhan glanced at the rearview mirror and explained, "This tunnel leads directly to the Lower City."
At the tunnel entrance, road barriers were set up, and guards were stationed. Old Zhan slowed down, greeted the guards, and after they removed the barriers, he accelerated and drove into the tunnel.
