Chapter 402: The Wondrous Magic (First Update)
Chapter 402: The Wondrous Magic (First Update)
On the other side, Magus, with the three pieces of Dark Elven equipment provided by Jerry, hurried to his office and connected a holographic image with his immediate superior. He excitedly recounted the entire situation.
His immediate superior was equally thrilled and immediately contacted the few top leaders of the corporation, initiating an emergency meeting that lasted about half an hour.
Finally, under the decision of the highest-ranking leader, they made their choice:
"We want all ten thousand sets. If the funds are insufficient, I will immediately arrange for the transfer. If this deal goes through, Magus, your position will be elevated further!"
"Yes, I will complete the task!"
Magus ended the holographic call, feeling elated.
In fact, he had anticipated this outcome even before he made the request.
Forty billion was not a small sum for the entire corporation, but it wasn't a strain to come up with it. With ten thousand sets of Dark Elven equipment available for the corporation's scientific team to study, they could almost certainly decode and replicate Dark Elven technology.
Such technology would undoubtedly bring significant benefits to the corporation in the future. Moreover, the ten thousand sets of Dark Elven weapons themselves had considerable value and could be packaged and marketed as collectibles, even auctioned off in various cities and planets to recoup the costs.
Most importantly, Jerry, with an Asgard ship and a large number of Dark Elven weapons, clearly held a high status in Asgard. Establishing a good relationship with him could lead to better and more long-term cooperation in the future.
Asgard, the ruler of the Nine Realms, rarely appeared in the universe. If the corporation could establish a partnership with them, the benefits would be immense.
Thus, he was confident that the corporation's leaders would agree to the deal. Sure enough, the outcome was as he had predicted.
"How are you standing here? Is it already over?"
After receiving the approval from his superiors, Magus immediately took the three pieces of equipment to the door of the first Vip room. However, when he saw Maria standing there, his face showed surprise.
He had assumed that the Asgardian would be physically robust and that half an hour would not be enough. He didn't expect the session to end so quickly, and for Mr. Carmen to have entered Sage Mode, even sending Maria out.
Maria replied awkwardly:
"No, Mr. Carmen didn't need my services, he—"
She recounted what had just happened.
Magus nodded in understanding:
"Alright, I understand. You can go back to work. Don't worry; your commission will not be reduced by a single cent!"
Magus felt a growing appreciation for the young Asgardian guest. Everyone aspired to the light. Magus, without any background or connections, had climbed from a junior appraiser to his current position, enduring many challenges along the way.
He could accept some darkness, and when dealing with clients with special requests, as long as the woman was willing, he didn't mind accommodating them, but that was for work and survival.
Personally, he didn't like it. However, life was what it was. Even on a highly developed planet like Xandar, if one wanted power and status, sacrifices were inevitable.
Watching Maria leave with excitement, Magus smiled and pushed the door open to the Vip room.
"Sorry, Mr. Carmen, for keeping you waiting!"
"No problem!"
Jerry put down the teacup he had conjured with Magic, closed the Magic book, and smiled.
Years of Magic research had made him less sensitive to the passage of time. Sometimes, when deeply engrossed in his studies without interruption, he might realize days had passed before he even noticed.
So, the past half-hour was not nearly enough for him to thoroughly think through the improvement of a Magic principle.
"How about it, did your immediate superior agree?"
"Mr. Carmen, rest assured. The leadership of our corporation is very eager to collaborate with you, not just this time, but in the future as well. Whenever you need something, we will purchase your items at the highest price."
"Or, if this is your first time on Xandar and you need any assistance, we are more than willing to help."
Magus replied sincerely.
Hearing this, Jerry understood the situation and didn't elaborate further:
"Thank you!"
He knew they must have mistaken him for someone from Asgard, but it didn't matter. He might actually end up selling those Dark Elven spaceships and the Super Battleship later.
While the Dark Elven spaceships were valuable, the Super Battleship was undoubtedly worth a fortune. It was built with all the Dark Elven technology to rival Asgard and even had stealth capabilities. It was unlikely that Xandar's current technology could replicate such a feat.
Although it had been damaged by him and Thor, with some repairs, it could still function as a powerful weapon, equivalent to Earth's nuclear arsenal.
Moreover, it seemed that the other party had considerable influence on Xandar, which might be helpful in his search for a suitable location to relocate the Ring World's inhabitants.
Inside a large metal warehouse.
Jerry looked at Magus and confirmed:
"Is it okay to place them here?"
"Yes, but Mr. Carmen, are you sure you don't want to visit the spaceship?"
Magus knew Jerry was a Mage, but he had never heard of a Mage who could carry ten thousand sets of weapons and equipment. That would make him a mobile arsenal!
So, he assumed the ten thousand sets of Dark Elven equipment were stored on a spaceship at the spaceport. He had even offered to pilot a transport to bring them back.
However, Jerry just asked for a large warehouse.
"No need!"
Jerry murmured a summoning incantation, and with a wave of his hand, Dark Elven weapons began to fly out of his Ring World, landing neatly on the warehouse floor.
"Done, you can count them now!"
"So, you weren't joking in the hall!"
Magus stared at the Dark Elven equipment in the warehouse, his eyes wide with amazement.
In the hall, Jerry had mentioned bringing out all ten thousand sets of equipment, and Magus had thought it was a joke. He never expected it to be true.
To be honest, when he saw Jerry produce one set out of thin air, he was already amazed by the power of Magic. Now, he realized Magic was even more incredible than he had imagined.
He also thought about how someone with such Magic could smuggle contraband without detection by Xandar's technology.
Of course, given Jerry's status, he probably wouldn't stoop to such a deed.
