Chapter 402: "My Head is About to Split!"
Chapter 402: "My Head is About to Split!"
"Can you paint, sing, dance, or play any instruments?"
"Play the flute?"
"That's more like it!"
After this brief exchange, the local from the Seven Seas Alliance nodded arrogantly, as was his usual demeanor, and forcefully paid the boat fare for Lindsey.
He did this even before Lindsey could refuse.
The man then turned and walked into the cabin without a backward glance, and the two never met again.
"The people here have such distinct personalities," Lindsey muttered as he entered the cabin.
The propulsion system of the fishing boat differed from other vessels, but its interior structure was not too dissimilar, except for the decorative carvings that served no practical purpose and were visible everywhere.
Lindsey found his cabin, where a one-armed man was already seated.
They introduced themselves.
The one-armed man was named Alarson, a traveling painter who had come from the Mountain Mist World and was headed to the City of a Thousand Sails to participate in the Arts Festival.
Lindsey struck up a conversation with him, sharing their experiences.
When Alarson heard Lindsey's sentiments about the distinct personalities of the people in the Seven Seas Alliance, he smiled and explained, "Everyone feels that way when they first come to this world."
"In fact, once you get to know them, you'll understand that the people of the Seven Seas Alliance don't really hold outsiders in high regard."
"But as long as you possess a skill related to the arts, they won't care if you're an Awakened or a noble, and instead, they'll welcome you with enthusiasm."
"This is much cuter than some other worlds."
Lindsey sighed, "So, because of the artists' rule, the entire world's atmosphere is like this?"
Alarson nodded, "That's right. Even the common folk here have taken the initiative to form an Art Review Association, just to ensure that artistic activities receive top priority."
Woooo—
A melodious sound echoed from outside the window.
It was the same long, drawn-out call the Sea Folk made when ships entered the port.
Lindsey realized that the ship they were on was about to depart.
There was a small porthole on the same level as his cabin, and when Lindsey stuck his head out, he saw that the Sea Folk were pulling the ship at a good speed, and the dark reef port was quickly receding into the distance.
Alarson explained to Lindsey, "This ship should circle the archipelago first, and then head towards the City of a Thousand Sails."
Lindsey retracted his neck from the porthole, "How many days will this journey take?"
Alarson replied, "This is the archipelago where the teleportation arrays are set up, and it's quite close to the City of a Thousand Sails. Usually, it takes about 4 to 5 days to get there."
At this point, Alarson's expression suddenly turned mysterious, "If you haven't seen the ocean before, you can go out and take a look now. The view outside is something you'd never see in other worlds."
"A view that's not seen in other worlds?"
Lindsey was curious, and he followed the suggestion, leaving the cabin and heading to the deck.
The vast ocean stretched as far as the eye could see, and in the glow of the evening sky, gentle sea breezes caressed his face, while ahead, the sound of the ship cutting through the water's surface reached his ears.
Lindsey closed his eyes slightly.
The image of the ocean seemed to soothe his heart, and his breathing became calm.
"Hey, newbie, we meet again!"
At that moment, a greeting came from behind Lindsey turned to see that the oddly dressed maiden from before was also on the deck, and upon seeing Lindsey, she approached him to say hello.
Lindsey was about to respond.
But his gaze passed through the maiden's silhouette, and he saw the island they had just departed from.
The island where Lindsey had stood and interacted with many people, was now a three-dimensional painting!
This painting was currently flush against the seawater, and from different angles, the image would change accordingly.
Lindsey's intuition told him that this was not some trick of spatial distortion but that the very existence there was a painting, not a physical island!
The maiden smiled slightly:
"The world of the Seven Seas Alliance is a true ocean world."
"Unless you dive to the bottom of the sea, you won't see the land in the world's original ecology."
Lindsey recalled the information he had heard before:
"In this world, all the islands are painted by artists one by one?"
The maiden nodded meaningfully:
"Not just painted, oh."
"..."
Lindsey sighed:
"So the whole world is like a white paper made of the ocean, and anyone can create their own work on it."
"No wonder these artists treat this world as their home turf."
Lindsey's sigh brought great favor to the maiden.
She leaned in and asked Lindsey:
"Friend, do you play music or paint?"
Having understood how to deal with the locals of the Seven Seas Alliance, Lindsey nodded immediately:
"Of course, I've learned to play the flute."
The maiden's eyes lit up:
"Then can you play something for me?"
Since he had nothing better to do on the ship, Lindsey took out his piccolo:
"I'm just a beginner, so don't be surprised if it doesn't sound good."
"..."
A few minutes later, the maiden was crouching on the deck, holding her head and wailing:
"My head, my head is about to split open!"
"Your playing is so strange! Every rhythm is on point, but the effect is like a mechanical melody!"
Lindsey put away his flute, feeling a bit embarrassed:
"I told you, I'm just a beginner."
The maiden became more agitated as she listened, suddenly jumping up from the deck:
"A beginner shouldn't be like this! You, it's like you've only learned the basic sounds of the instrument and then forced the notes together!"
"This shouldn't be!"
"Anyone who can learn to this extent wouldn't play like this!"
The maiden's eyes suddenly sharpened:
"Friend, do you know how to play any other instruments?"
Lindsey shook his head:
"No, but I learn quickly."
"Then I'll teach you!" The maiden obviously didn't think so, as she raised her eyebrows, "The sunset's glow on the bird's wings, playing a melancholy tune!"
A gentle singing voice gathered in the air.
The next second, two violins appeared in the maiden's hands.
Their color was composed of the sunset's glow, and although they were fleeting, they could play the music perfectly.
She placed one between her left shoulder and neck, gently holding it with her chin, and handed the other directly to Lindsey:
"Come on! Learn from my posture!"
She really wanted to understand what was going on with Lindsey's playing.
So much so that she couldn't wait a moment!
"Learn it!"
Lindsey wasn't shy either, and he took the violin created by the maiden's skills.
He was just about to unlock his music game module in the world of the Seven Seas Alliance, and he wasn't going to miss this opportunity to learn!
"..."
"No, let's try a different instrument."
Half an hour passed, and the maiden's cries of delight and pain echoed across the deck:
"You do learn quickly; calling you a genius wouldn't be an exaggeration!"
"But, but how is it that as you learn, you end up sounding like that broken flute again?"
"..."
Another half-hour passed:
"No, let's switch to another instrument!"
"..."
