Chapter 402: Labyrinth Rewards
Chapter 402: Labyrinth Rewards
September 25, 2017
Lu HaiKong was unaware that this journey into the Endless Labyrinth had allowed two of his capable officers to break through their strength limits. Now, he was questioning his own existence.
Since entering the labyrinth, Lu HaiKong had not once opened a treasure chest nor had he encountered any of the so-called grand doors.
In this maze, he was either faced with endless branching paths or adorable little creatures wielding various deadly weapons, all eager to play a game of catch-and-kill with him.
Although death was not permanent in this dungeon, Lu HaiKong had no desire to experience the feeling of being mobbed.
Thus, Lu HaiKong embarked on a grueling battle within the labyrinth.
For twelve hours, Lu HaiKong engaged in over twenty battles, averaging one or two fights per hour.
Amidst this intense combat, Lu HaiKong was fortunate that his opponents were primarily automaton beasts. After defeating them, they would drop items that could be used as allies. Otherwise, Lu HaiKong might not have been able to endure.
The battles were challenging, but the rewards were worthwhile. After twenty-plus battles, Lu HaiKong had collected several dozen automaton beasts and numerous treasures. With such gains before him, even after being surrounded and pummeled for twelve hours, Lu HaiKong did not doubt his luck.
It was only when Lu HaiKong was about to be teleported out of the dungeon that he felt the deep malice this world held for him.
"We apologize. Every person who enters the Endless Labyrinth is only allowed to carry three items upon departure. You have three minutes to make your selection. If you do not choose within three minutes, the system will randomly retain three items for you."
Indeed, the concept of being an 'Emperor of Luck' did not apply to Lu HaiKong during this period. He was now the embodiment of an 'African Talent,' as he had produced such outrageously powerful items.
Lu HaiKong, who had anticipated this situation, was not overly discouraged. He laid out all his acquired items, including the puppet of the previous Ironforge General, a bull-shaped puppet, and a token. He discarded the rest, including the siege engine blueprints and the talent pill from the golden chest.
As Lu HaiKong discarded these items, his actions were carefree and cool, but no one knew that his heart had bled several liters of blood.
Fortunately, although he couldn't take everything, he managed to keep the most valuable items. It would have been a real tragedy if he had not been prompted and the system randomly removed items upon exiting the dungeon.
Among the three items Lu HaiKong chose to keep, the first was self-evident, and the second was a relatively powerful automaton beast he encountered.
Automaton Iron Bull
Ability: 90
Defense: 1000
Lu HaiKong encountered this creature late in the labyrinth, after he had already formed a small army of automaton beasts. It took dozens of beasts to wear down and ultimately defeat this iron bull.
Aside from the iron bull, the token Lu HaiKong chose was quite interesting.
Random Talent Summoning Token
Item Type: Auxiliary/Construction
Item Usage Conditions: Refugee Camp - Excellent Level
Item Effect: After use, the Refugee Camp can summon one special talent per month.
Lu HaiKong and his chosen items were directly teleported out of the dungeon.
When Lu HaiKong came to his senses, he found himself outside.
It was around noon when they entered the Endless Labyrinth, and now, twelve hours later, it was midnight.
As Lu HaiKong exited, Gao Shun and his group were huddled together, guarding the dungeon entrance. A fire blazed, roasting an unlucky tiger they had captured, and two hind legs were set aside for Lu HaiKong.
After leaving the dungeon, Lu HaiKong took inventory and found that all his subordinates were present and accounted for. What surprised him even more was that Gao Shun's strength had broken through to 80, and Dian Wei's strength had also significantly improved.
Seeing Dian Wei's strength at 95, Lu HaiKong's eyes flashed with determination, "If we encounter that Lu Bu again, I'll see how he escapes this time!"
As Lu HaiKong spoke, he took the water flask and tiger meat from Zhao Er and sat down by the fire. Just as he was about to enjoy the taste of this protected animal, Cheng Yi suddenly called out.
"Lord, look quickly!"
Lu HaiKong glanced up from the tiger leg, and on the wall where they had entered the Endless Labyrinth, he saw the mysterious runes glowing.
Lu HaiKong initially thought there might be something else, but upon closer inspection, he noticed the runes seemed to shrink as they glowed.
"Is this dungeon disappearing? What's going on? Can dungeons disappear?"
Lu HaiKong suddenly remembered that he hadn't used an identification spell on this dungeon yet. As the dungeon began to fade, Lu HaiKong cast an identification spell.
Dungeon: Endless Labyrinth
Dungeon Level: Legendary
Entry Requirements: None
Dungeon Description: The Endless Labyrinth appears once every month at a random location, accommodating a random number of people each time, and its existence is also random.
"Damn, I wanted to turn this place into a backyard garden, sending a thousand or two people here daily. Now, it seems uncertain if we'll encounter it again."
Lu HaiKong pursed his lips as he watched the Endless Labyrinth gradually disappear before his eyes, then he withdrew his gaze.
Lu HaiKong finished his meal, and to be honest, whether it was the lack of culinary skills of these men or something else, the tiger meat didn't quite satisfy Lu HaiKong's taste buds. Slightly regretting the waste of good ingredients, Lu HaiKong quickly finished his meal.
After a quick cleanup, Lu HaiKong and his group headed back to the mountain stronghold. Along the way, Lu HaiKong checked Gao Shun's and Dian Wei's attributes.
Dian Wei didn't show any other changes except for his strength reaching 95, while Gao Shun's strength directly soared to 82. He also gained a legendary-tier weapon, Iron Blood Drink, and acquired a new martial arts trait.
"As expected, once his strength breaks through to 80, the Formation Army's combat power will increase geometrically."
Lu HaiKong smiled, examining Gao Shun's new trait.
As Lu HaiKong left the Endless Labyrinth and headed back to the mountain stronghold with his group, he was unaware that the opportunity he had been waiting for was about to arrive. His true rise was imminent...
