Chapter 402: Execution Target
Chapter 402: Execution Target
At around 2:00 PM, the armored vehicle came to a stop in front of a garden-style estate.
Chen Chuan stepped out and took in the sight. It was a four-story villa with a spacious courtyard in front and a separate garage on the side. At the top, one could see an observation terrace and a pavilion.
Since he had already been verified by the security system, the estate's caretaker opened the main gate upon seeing him approach.
Chen Chuan entered, climbed the steps, and walked through the grand entrance. After a quick survey of the surroundings, he signaled to the caretaker that he could leave, and the latter bowed slightly before quietly closing the door.
Chen Chuan took a look around; the furniture and decorations were already in place, so he didn't need to worry about arranging them himself. The interior design was predominantly light, airy, and streamlined, with excellent lighting, creating a comfortable atmosphere. There was no need for any renovations.
As a residence for a fighter, the most important feature was the training ground. On the third floor, there was a 500-square-meter training room, similar to the layout in the academy.
For a Third Limit fighter, this space was not particularly large, but it was standard. It was more than sufficient for indoor training, especially with the spacious front courtyard and a larger backyard outside.
Aside from the basic rooms like bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens, the villa also had specially modified and reinforced rooms for medication storage and weapon storage. Chen Chuan was quite satisfied with these, especially the weapon storage room, where he could keep the various weapons he had acquired.
The villa also had a basement with a dedicated space for Field Interference Creatures, even allowing for the placement of a Resonance Nest. It seemed that every detail had been carefully considered.
After a quick tour, Chen Chuan headed to the garage, where he found a "Conqueror General" vehicle produced by Fenghai Corporation as a complimentary gift.
The vehicle was of medium grade, featuring a large front end, high chassis, powerful engine, and a spacious interior. The body was partially made from biomaterials, enabling a degree of self-repair.
Most notably, two banners adorned the upper part of the vehicle, and colorful manes resembling horse's hair adorned the middle and rear sections. When driving at high speeds, these manes would flutter in the wind, creating a striking and intimidating effect, making it a favorite among some fighters.
Chen Chuan wasn't particularly fond of this type of vehicle, but it could be a worthwhile addition to his collection.
In addition to the house itself, the company had also assigned four cleaners, two maintenance staff, and a five-person patrol team of Swordsman Guards to take care of the estate's daily maintenance and security. Their salaries were covered by the company, so Chen Chuan didn't need to worry about managing them. If he didn't require their services, they could be dismissed.
Overall, Chen Chuan was quite satisfied with the arrangement, but he didn't linger for long. After the inspection, he returned to the armored vehicle and headed back to the Handling Bureau.
Upon arriving at the bureau, Chen Chuan handed over the information provided by Meng Shu to Director Wu. The latter was a man of action and, after a brief conversation, immediately began organizing the capture operation.
Chen Chuan then received a message that Officer Qiu from the Examination Department wanted to see him. He went to the reception room, where Officer Qiu asked him a few questions and conducted some simple tests using specialized instruments to check for any signs of corruption or contamination from the entity he had faced.
However, this was merely a formality, as a Third Limit fighter would not be significantly affected by such influences in a short period, even if they were willing.
Officer Qiu also mentioned that since Chen Chuan had just been promoted not long ago, there wouldn't be another promotion for a while. Still, the next time promotions were considered, his recent achievements would be taken into account.
Chen Chuan wasn't overly concerned about this. Third Limit fighters already held a certain status, and promotions up to a certain level were more of a bonus. While his salary would increase, he was already receiving two salaries and had just received a substantial bonus, so he didn't need to worry too much about it.
Officer Qiu smiled and said, "There's one more thing. We were hoping to find some evidence or clues from the mind of Agent Xu Xianwen that could help us accuse Meng Huang. However, we didn't find anything related to that. Instead, we discovered some personal information."
He tapped on the Boundary Token and sent over a set of data, "This location might be the lair of the entity, an underwater cave. Currently, we don't have suitable personnel to search the area, so if Agent Chen has the time, you can take a look. Perhaps there's something valuable there."
Officer Qiu continued with a smile, "The case of Xu Xianwen has been closed, and the file has been sealed. It's highly unlikely that anyone will inquire about it in the future. Whatever Agent Chen finds, there's no need to report it to higher authorities."
Chen Chuan immediately understood the implication. The claim of not having suitable personnel was just an excuse; they were essentially handing over the responsibility for dealing with this lair to him.
Since Xu Xianwen was solely defeated by Chen Chuan, and considering the recent events, it was implied that any related gains were his spoils of war, a form of indirect reward.
After collecting the data, Chen Chuan bid farewell to Officer Qiu and returned to the armored vehicle. He took a quick glance at the map, which showed the target location near an underground river. According to the analysis, this river was connected to Lu Lan Lake, indicating that Xu Xianwen had intended to go there on that day.
Hmm, I'll make a trip there when I have the time.
First, he had the armed vehicle send him back to Wu Yi. Since he was only taking a short break and the matter wasn't fully resolved, he didn't bring Chao Ming back from Tan Zhi. He merely contacted him, and the latter assured him that Chao Ming was smart and easy to take care of.
After expressing his gratitude and promising to treat him to a meal another day, he ended the call and went to the living room to make a phone call home.
Due to the special circumstances, he had been staying at Mietie Mountain, so he had only asked Gao Ming to relay messages via radio. But it was still necessary to make a phone call to reassure his family.
As he made the call, in a conference room of the Ferris Wheel Company, Sister Huan stood before a holographic screen, using a Boundary Token to communicate with all members of the action team. She manipulated the figures within the screen.
"These are all the targets that Wu Qi provided that are of interest to the company," she said, adjusting the screen to zoom in on three individuals. Their photos were enlarged and displayed before everyone.
"These three individuals are the top targets for elimination according to Wu Qi's analysis. Regardless of how he reached this conclusion, since the higher-ups think so, we'll follow their lead. First, let's focus on this person..."
The photo of a woman in her twenties was enlarged. She had red-dyed hair and wore a white dress, looking pure and charming.
"Deng Xing, from Huihe Island, formerly served as the Intelligence Secretary Assistant for the company. She later left due to an internal incident.
She doesn't possess any remarkable abilities and only knows basic martial arts. However, her current boyfriend, Tu Nai, is a third-level expert and a core member of the Elephant Gang.
This means that by targeting her, we'll inevitably provoke the Elephant Gang."
Sister Huan moved her finger again, "The second target is Lei Guangcheng, the Director of the Esoteric Religion Review Bureau in a peripheral city. There's news that he'll be transferred to the Central City next year to serve as the Deputy Director of the Esoteric Religion Review Bureau here."
One team member expressed surprise, "It's not easy to be transferred from a peripheral city to the Central City. He must have a powerful background or exceptional abilities."
Sister Huan then brought up the last person, none other than Chen Chuan. She said, "As for this one, I believe I don't need to say much. You all should have seen him during the confrontation with Wei Wusheng.
He's an Executor from the Handling Bureau, a trainee from Wu Yi, and currently a Security Consultant for Fusion Boundary Corporation. He's a capable young man."
She glanced around, "Which target should we prioritize first? Any suggestions?"
One team member spoke up, "Sister Huan, we have no objections. We'll follow your arrangements." The rest of the team also had no opinions.
Sister Huan was straightforward, "Then I'll make the decision. I choose him." She looked at Chen Chuan and waved her hand, moving the other two photos aside. "The first target we'll deal with is this young man."
Someone asked curiously, "Sister Huan, I'm just wondering, not questioning your choice, but why him? The other two targets seem easier to handle."
Sister Huan explained, "The other two targets are either not in the Central City or heavily guarded, making it difficult to approach them. On the other hand, this young man frequently travels around, and he's not under anyone's protection.
Moreover, he's only eighteen years old and still in a high growth phase. If we target the others, it'll take time to plan and execute, and by the time we're done, a couple of months might have passed. By then, his strength will undoubtedly be even stronger, increasing the difficulty of our mission."
She looked at the team, "I'm not exaggerating. I suspect that the Viper Team's failure was due to underestimating his strength and not taking the opponent seriously."
She turned to a few specific team members, "Analysis Team, before we take action, I need comprehensive and detailed intelligence and information about him. The more, the better. Even if it's from ten years ago, dig it up for me."
She knocked on the table, "We must take this opponent seriously. We need to be fully prepared to face someone who single-handedly wiped out the Viper Team!"
The team members acknowledged her words with a solemn nod.
The Viper Team was no pushover. With good coordination, they could give anyone a run for their money, especially their leader, Xu Xian Wen, a true combat expert with exceptional survival skills. Yet, even he couldn't escape Chen Chuan's pursuit and met his end at the blade of his knife.
To take on such a formidable fighter, they had to be extremely cautious.
However, hunting a target was different from a direct confrontation. No matter how powerful an individual was, they had their weaknesses. The team would formulate a detailed and meticulous plan, patiently waiting for the right opportunity. They would only strike when they were confident of success.
