Chapter 402: Executing the Target
Chapter 402: Executing the Target
At around 2:00 PM, the armed vehicle came to a halt in front of a garden-style manor.
Chen Chuan stepped out of the vehicle and looked ahead. It was a four-story villa with a spacious courtyard in front and a separate garage on the side. At the top, one could see an observation terrace and a penthouse.
As he had already been verified through the security system, the guard on duty opened the main gate as he approached.
Chen Chuan walked in, climbed the steps, and entered the main door. After surveying the area, he signaled for the guard to leave, who bowed slightly and quietly closed the door.
Chen Chuan looked around. The furnishings and furniture were already in place, so he didn't need to bother with any additional arrangements. The interior decor was light, fast-paced, simple, and streamlined, with good lighting, creating a comfortable atmosphere. There was no need for any modifications.
As a residence for fighters, the most important aspect was, of course, the training ground. On the third floor, there was a 500-square-meter training room, similar to the layout of the academy.
For a Third Limit Fighter, this space was not particularly large, just standard, but it was sufficient for indoor training. After all, there was also the spacious front courtyard and an even larger backyard outside.
In addition to the basic rooms like bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens, the villa also had a dedicated medicine storage room and a weapons storage room. These two areas had been specially modified and reinforced, which Chen Chuan was quite satisfied with, especially the weapons storage room, where he could store the weapons he had acquired.
There was also a basement in the villa, which had a dedicated area for placing Field Interference Organisms. Even if he added another Resonance Nest, it wouldn't be a problem, as various functions had been considered.
After taking a turn around the villa, he went to the garage, which was not empty. Instead, a "Constant Victory General" vehicle produced by the Feng Hai Company was parked inside.
This vehicle was mid-range, with a large front end, high chassis, powerful engine, spacious interior, and a body made with biological materials that could self-repair to some extent.
Especially noteworthy were the two flags on the top of the vehicle and the colorful mane-like streamers on the middle and rear sections. When driving at high speeds, these streamers would flutter in the wind, creating a visually striking and intimidating effect, which was quite popular among some fighters.
Chen Chuan wasn't particularly fond of this type of vehicle, but it could be kept as a collectible.
In addition to the house itself, the company also provided a team of five cleaners for maintenance and a five-person patrol team of Sword Guards to watch over the house. The salaries of these personnel were also covered by the company, so Chen Chuan didn't need to worry about it. Of course, if he didn't need them, they could be dismissed.
After a thorough inspection, Chen Chuan was quite satisfied. However, he didn't linger for long. He left the villa, got into the vehicle, and headed back to the Processing Bureau.
Upon arriving at the bureau, Chen Chuan handed the information Meng Shu had given him to Wu Ju. The latter was efficient and, after a brief chat, immediately started making arrangements.
As Chen Chuan stepped out, he received a notification that Qiu Gan Shi from the Evaluation Department wanted to see him. He headed to the reception room, where Qiu Gan Shi asked him a few questions and conducted some simple checks using specialized instruments to observe if Chen Chuan had been corrupted or influenced by the target.
However, this was merely a formality, as a Third Limit Fighter, even if willing, wouldn't show any significant issues within such a short time.
Qiu Gan Shi also informed Chen Chuan that since he had just been promoted not long ago, there wouldn't be another promotion for a while. However, the promotion would be considered during the next evaluation period.
Chen Chuan didn't pay much attention to this, as Third Limit Fighters already held a certain status, and promotions, until a certain level, were more of a formality. While the salary would increase, Chen Chuan was already receiving two salaries and had just received a substantial bonus, so he wasn't too concerned.
Qiu Gan Shi smiled and said, "There's one more thing. We found something in Xu Xianwen's mind, which we retrieved from Chen Chuan's execution.
We were hoping to find some evidence against Meng Huang, but there was nothing related to that. Instead, we discovered some personal items..."
He sent over a set of data and said, "This location might be his lair, an underwater cave. Currently, the bureau doesn't have suitable personnel for the search, so if Chen Chuan is available, you can go and check it out. There might be something valuable there."
Qiu Gan Shi smiled and added, "The case of Xu Xianwen has been closed, and the file has been sealed. It's highly unlikely that there will be any follow-up, so Chen Chuan doesn't need to report anything he finds to higher authorities."
Chen Chuan immediately understood that the mention of 'no suitable personnel' was just an excuse, and the bureau was essentially giving him the authority to handle this location.
Since Xu Xianwen was entirely handled by Chen Chuan, and with this recent incident, it was implicitly acknowledged that any related matters were his to deal with, a sort of indirect reward.
Action: He waited for the materials to be collected, bid farewell to Qiu Gan Shi, and left the building. As he walked back to the armored vehicle, he glanced at the map display, which showed the target's location near an underground river. According to the analysis, it was connected to Lulan Lake, indicating that Xu Xianwen had intended to go there that day.
Well, I'll make a trip there when I have time.
He had the armored vehicle send him back to Wu Yi, and since he was only resting for a while, he didn't go to pick up Chao Ming from Tan Zhi. He just greeted him, and the latter assured him that Chao Ming was smart and easy to raise.
After expressing his gratitude, he promised to treat him to a meal another day and ended the call. He then went to the living room, picked up the phone, and made a call home.
Due to the special circumstances, he had been staying at Black Ink Mountain, so he had Gao Ming relay messages via the radio, but it was still necessary to call home to reassure his family.
As he made the call, in a conference room of Skyscraper Corporation, Huan Jie stood before a light screen, using a Boundary Vessel to connect with the entire action team. She manipulated the figures within the light screen.
She said, "These are the targets that Wu Qi has identified as threats to the company." She swiped the light screen, enlarging the photos of three individuals that appeared in front of the team members.
She said, "These three individuals are the ones Wu Qi believes should be eliminated first. Regardless of how he analyzed it, since the higher-ups think this way, we'll follow their lead. First, this person..."
She enlarged the photo of a woman in her twenties. She was dressed in a white dress, looking pure and innocent.
"Deng Xin, a Huaihe Island native, formerly worked as an intelligence secretary for the company, but later left due to an internal incident.
She doesn't have any real strength, only trained in basic martial arts, but her current boyfriend, Tu Nai, is a Third Limit master and a core member of the Elephant Gang.
This means that if we go after her, we'll provoke a conflict with the Elephant Gang."
She shifted the light screen to another person, "The second one is Lei Guangcheng, a deputy director from an Esoteric Religion Review Bureau in a marginal city, rumored to assume the position of deputy director in the center city next year.
One team member was surprised, "To be transferred from a marginal city to the center city, he must have a big background or exceptional abilities."
Huan Jie then brought up the last person, which was none other than Chen Chuan. She said, "As for this person, I don't need to explain. I suspect that the Viper Team's failure last time was due to underestimating his strength and not taking him seriously."
She looked at several team members, "Analysis team, before the action, I need to obtain detailed intelligence about him, the more comprehensive, the better, even if it's from ten years ago."
She knocked on the table, "We must take this opponent seriously, and for a solo elimination of a fighter, we need to be fully prepared!"
The team members responded with solemnly, ready to take on the challenge.
Regardless of others, the Viper Team was no pushover, and even with proper coordination, they would have to be cautious when facing them, especially the team leader, Xu Xianwen, who was a true combat master, with an extremely strong survival ability. Yet, even so, in the end, he still couldn't escape Chen Chuan's pursuit and met his end under Chen Chuan's blade.
To take on such a powerful combat master, they had to give it their all.
However, hunting down a target and a frontal assault were different matters, and even the strongest individuals had their weaknesses. They would formulate detailed and meticulous plans, patiently waiting for the right moment, and only striking when they were confident of success.
