Chapter 402: Aspiring for an S-Rank Mission
Chapter 402: Aspiring for an S-Rank Mission
Despite their differing stances at the time, Rod's actions were justified, and he sincerely apologized to Simon.
Simon, of course, wouldn't get upset over such a matter. For him, the most important thing was that Elusa was rescued and freed from the shadows of the Paradise Tower.
Naturally, the other companions shared this sentiment.
After experiencing such an attack and enduring the massive wave, it would be challenging to bring Gerald back.
Elusa felt terrible for not being able to wake him up and was heartbroken by his actions.
Simon also shared this sentiment, as Gerald was once their comrade and a pillar of support.
Both of them tacitly avoided mentioning his name, silently gazing towards the sea.
The recent events of the meteor, dragon breath, and Archmage Spirit Energy were still vivid in their minds, as was Gerald's crazed expression.
Mila sensed the awkward atmosphere and suggested, "Why don't we head back to the hotel? Everyone is injured and needs to be bandaged."
"That's a good idea," Elusa agreed, nodding, as she carried Xiu.
Gray carried Varis, and Natsu, having climbed out of the sea, dried his clothes and then carried Milanna.
Rod matched each person with a task and asked Simon, "According to this process, do you want me to carry you?"
Simon saw that Rod himself was unsteady and waved his hand, saying, "No, it's fine. I'm okay."
"Oh," Rod leaned comfortably against Mila.
Out of consideration for Simon's understanding, Rod whispered, "Just a reminder, later on, don't let Elusa bandage you."
"Huh? Why?"
Rod replied solemnly, "A lesson learned the hard way."
Mila patted Rod, "Don't be so harsh, it's been so long, and Elusa will improve, probably."
Simon was filled with confusion.
Juvia held her heart with both hands, staring intently at Gray's back, "Juvia wants to help Gray!"
Lucy said, "But he doesn't seem to be that badly injured, does he?"
Juvia fixed her gaze on Lucy, "A rival in love..."
Lucy couldn't understand her train of thought, "What are you talking about?"
Rod, who was walking ahead with Mila's support, suddenly turned around, "Hey, whoever saw Gray's pants, help him get them back!"
Lucy made a disgusted face, "Who would want to do that for him?"
"Sure~ Juvia will take care of it." Juvia showed a slightly perverted smile, "Hehe, Gray's pants..."
"It's a little scary." Lucy quickened her pace, not wanting to walk side by side with her.
Due to the commotion in the evening, the hotel manager called the nearby security team, and the Three Ravens were taken away before nightfall.
Although Rod left a note explaining the situation, it still affected the hotel's business.
The current time was the late-night hours, and the staff had already gone to sleep. Fortunately, there were available rooms.
Everyone could pair up and make do with the accommodations.
Since Mila's room was damaged, Rod had no choice but to reluctantly take her to his room.
"What are you smiling about? Give me your hand." Mila took the first aid kit.
Rod had been slashed by the Magpie twice, and although the injuries weren't severe, they had been treated too casually. Mila wanted to clean and re-bandage his wounds.
After the treatment, Rod moved his arm and looked at Mila's stomach, "How are you feeling? Does it still hurt?"
"I'm fine." Mila had also been punched by the Owl earlier, but now she felt no pain.
She slightly lifted her collar, revealing a noticeable bruise on her pale abdomen.
"You're still bruised and say you're fine." Rod stood up, "I'll get a towel to apply to your bruise."
Mila lay quietly on the bed, letting him take care of her.
After about fifteen minutes, Rod picked up the towel, but Mila grabbed his hand.
"Help me rub it."
"Okay." Rod leaned against Mila, propping himself up with his right hand and gently massaging her abdomen with his left.
Mira closed her eyes comfortably, enjoying the warmth of Rod's large hands rubbing her stomach.
Unfortunately, their peace was short-lived as someone knocked on the door.
Although nothing had happened, Mira felt a bit guilty and adjusted her clothes after getting up. Leaving the room with Rod so late at night would seem strange.
"Who is it?"
Rod, with no regard for the late hour, opened the door and looked around, but saw no one.
An aged, kind, and amiable voice sounded, "I'm here."
Rod bowed his head, "Oh, Guild Master, why are you here?"
Mira patted Rod's back, feeling he had been a little impolite.
Makarov's beard twitched, "What do you mean, why am I here? Didn't you ask Barugo for the guild's assistance?"
"..." There was such a matter, but Rod had forgotten about it as the battle had gone so smoothly.
Makarov seemed to understand the situation from his reaction, but still asked, "How is Elusa?"
"She's injured, in that room." Rod pointed, "I'll take you there."
In truth, he didn't need to lead the way. Although it was already late, they had just returned to the hotel, and everyone's nerves were still on edge.
The sound of the Guild Master's knock had already been heard by the others, who came out to greet him.
Rod suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, as he concluded that the rooms here didn't have good soundproofing.
Makarov relaxed after seeing that the children weren't seriously injured, "Who on earth is it that could kidnap Elusa?"
Everyone began talking at once, recounting what had happened.
"The R System, Zicklein? Archmage Spirit Energy?" Makarov was shocked, they had actually used Archmage Spirit Energy!
He couldn't bear to imagine what would have happened if the children had been hit by Archmage Spirit Energy.
And there was an insider among the Council of Judges? No wonder Fairy Tail was always targeted! Wait, that's not right, according to what Simon said, Zicklein often spoke up for Fairy Tail...
Was something amiss?
How did it seem like they were in cahoots with such dangerous people?
"Regardless, it's good that everyone is safe." Makarov smiled.
This was incredible, they had resolved such a major incident.
If this event were to be graded as a mission, it would be at least an S-Class Mission, perhaps even SS-Class.
Unfortunately, no one had issued such a commission.
Even if there had been one, Mira might not have accepted it, and Rod might not have wanted her to go.
What Makarov didn't know was that Rod's thoughts were already wavering.
After witnessing the power of the Mountain Dragon, Rod had formed the idea of teaming up with Mira to take on an S-Class Mission.
Previously, he didn't want to accept such missions due to their weakness and the lack of a need for large sums of money. But now...
With the savings of Rod and Mira, they could establish their own home after completing just one low-ranked S-Class Mission. They could even afford to buy rings and hold a wedding.
For Rod, this was a huge temptation.
While rubbing Mira's stomach, Rod thought carefully and decided to remain calm and wait to see who the Mountain Dragon's new friend was before making any decisions.
And for such a significant matter, he would definitely seek Mira's opinion.
"What's going on with them?"
Makarov noticed two people silently wiping away tears in Elusa's room, and a black-skinned young man dramatically crying on the floor.
"They're the ones I mentioned earlier, my former companions." Elusa said, "They were deceived in the Paradise Tower for a full 8 years and only just learned the truth."
Makarov nodded, they were all poor children.
"Guild Master, I want..." Elusa hesitated, "I want to introduce them to join Fairy Tail."
